  1. You can over do graphite too...ask me how I know Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The raw materials are more expensive (because they are lighter yet still strong) and a properly assembled 1911 takes a lot of machining and a good one takes a lot if craftsmanship... That all costs money. 1911s are machined down not molded up. I had an emp 9. Great gun, but ended up trading it for a scope Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Most people tinker because they can't help themselves. Run it until it breaks and then fix it...and repeat. Sti guaranties their parts for life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. In addition to Mr. Kelly's article, it really is one of those things where you just know. Go to your favorite gun shop and lay them all on the counter side-by-side. You will feel a significant difference and will form a definite preference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I love how long range bonus is such a small part of the match but it gets talked about the most. Even people back home who don't go, when they ask me questions, majority are about the long range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Use Tripp research 9mm specific mags... Here endeth the lesson Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. But don't you win a prize if you scratch it all off? Jk lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I have a 14.5 Noveske and a good friend has a jp15 that's 14.5. They are my favorite size, recoil depends upon the whole system and how it harmonizes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. A 3man operation yes, but most of it if farmed out. Very little of what they do is in house Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Yep, the lifter is a pretty finicky beast too if you mess with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yes I do compete with them in 3gun nationally in Tac-optics. They all fit 21 loadable. I'm sure they do, but just like ARs...when you start to Frankenstein, you put all kinds of variables into the equation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Caz, a guy that shoots locally with us has one. I've shot it (and I'm sure he would let you if you asked)...it turned out pretty nice. Unless you don't like what you are shooting now I don't think it would be an improvement for you. The best thing tti has going is their turn around time. You can get a comparable gun to my AI within a couple weeks. I love my AI, but good luck getting ahold of Mike and you'll have to wait months. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Just because it's inertia, doesn't mean it has benelli's track record. It is a nice gun, I've shot it personally...but they run finicky especially for those who can't help but rape things with a dremel. I think you don't hear much about them because the jury is still out. Personally I have no desire to switch from Benelli, but if I did it's going to be after some of these new kids have been around the block a few times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I've had pretty good luck with frog lube and like the product. But it has taken some work and experimentation to get it to work with my Benelli m2 and match grade 1911s. If you try to use it like a conventional lube you will have frustrations. I haven't decided if I'm going to switch over my new custom 2011 to it because the clearances are so tight. 15. I have 12 (count them 1,2,3 twelve) stock, complete sti 140mm 9mm mags... They all run 100%. When I got my gun from Grundhauser, he said if you can get factory sti in the $60 range that it's the smart buy. If you have a problem child, then send it to get tuned. Once you start changing out parts or trying to add capacity, you begin to take a lot of variables into your own hands and all bets are off as to how much tuning you will need. Primarily I think the "tuned mag" exists because 2011s attract people who either a) like to throw money at their gear or can't leave well enough alone. Both shoot themselves in the foot IMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. The blade tech doh and wrs are the same holster just with or without the hood. I have both and jumping back and forth isn't that big of a deal if you don't want the hood for limited. If you pay the money, take the vacation and travel to a major match, I think it's pretty dumb not to be running a level 2 holster. It's cheap insurance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I don't participate in trooper, but after being at ironman last year and now reading between the lines on what is involved...it sounds much harder online than it actually is in real life IMO. The distance between stages is not far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Apply some light grease to the tip of the little lever that controls the lifter. With the bolt in battery look in the little slot where the bolt handle travels and you will see it. The bolt catches that on the rear stroke to cycle the lifter and if neglected can cause unwanted friction. A lightened bolt will be more susceptible to this because you have removed mass therefore your bolt carries less inertia through the cycling process Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Mark Roth had a piece of carbon fiber attached to a lifter on an m2 I shot in a side match last year. I think it made things worse even though it's counter intuitive. That one bit me more consistently and viciously than any other shotgun I've tried Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. The 1301 is just the new kid on the block. 18 months ago this would be a versamax thread and everyone was googoo for it too. The Benelli is the standard by which all other are judged. That should tell you something. It also only "needs" a $80 extension... The rest is tinkering. The 1301 is a solid gun, but the jury is still out until after a season of people trying to break them IMO. The one verses the other recoil arguments are all bs IMO. I've shot them all. They feel different as all guns do...but if you have good technique none of them have much recoil...and if not, any shotgun is going to kick you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. If you just want function there is nothing wrong with the edge or eagle. If you are expecting a high volume of high performance shooting...and you can swing it... A full custom from a good shop is money well spent. Grundhauser gun works built mine, and it's amazing (and I have high expectations). It was worth the kidney I paid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I've never held or shot a 6" gun I liked. The balance is just off IMO. I have a 5" 9mm, for 3gun... And it is amazing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Bought four flats, first flat had four duds in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Hey, we're hardcore. What can I say. The bee video is not my video so I can share it Ambluemax is also my YouTube channel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Also, not to shamelessly plug my own YouTube channel, but if one were to hypothetically wonder over there you might get a taste of coming attractions for the new Forest Lake location. Same user name over there
