  1. I'm a lawyer, and my practice is 100% devoted to defending civil lawsuits. I'm the guy who comes to the rescue when those predatory plaintiffs' lawyers go on the attack. I'm also here to remind you that predatory lawyers can't file lawsuits without willing clients. It's so easy to jump on the internet and bash the lawyers, but the real problem is societal opportunism and greed, and the blame-shifting that is an unfortunate fact of human nature.
  2. As Mike Plaxco used to say, "The reason the Good Lord gave you a left thumb is to drop the slide on a .45."
  3. Maybe this is the month that somebody will say, "You know, it's time we stop using the old 'small range' cop-out and actually design some good stages that comport with the spirit of free-style course design, instead of running from box to box like we did back in '87."
  4. Galling? Galling hasn't been an issue since disco. You might be reading too many gun magazines.
  5. Because it is DEAD and not growing It's not at all dead, but I will admit it's not growing--and that's partially because of the persistent lack of support from USPSA in the past. There are substantially more people competing in Revolver Division than women shooters and junior shooters period. All should be encouraged by USPSA, but there is no good reason for the organization to start sponsoring "category" teams until all of the USPSA/IPSC-recognized divisions are taken care of first. jkatz44--I'm sorry I boosted your thread in a different direction than you intended with your question/comment. I do think it's wrong for USPSA to pay for junior Open shooters but not offer the same opportunity to junior shooters who compete in other divisions. I don't think it matters whether other countries send those teams or not. It's nice to talk about "team wins" but when it really comes down to it, IPSC shooting is an individual sport. USPSA should really be more fair in how it divvies up the financial support for the World Shoots.
  6. Pretty much makes all those typical whiny-ass hate posts small by comparison, doesn't it guys? Best of luck to you and your son.
  7. Interesting question. Why is there one entire DIVISION (not category, mind you--I'm talking DIVISION!) that has never received any recognition or sponsorship from USPSA at the last several World Shoots--not even friggin' shirts??
  8. Sam and I are back home after our first Pro-Am. MAN, WHAT A GREAT MATCH! I've always liked the concept of the Pro-Am--I just can't believe it took me this long to shoot the match. On the flight home, Sam commented that it was probably his favorite match of all time. (And he's shot a lot of matches.) It's always nice to hang out with old friends, and meet some new folks along the way. Thanks to everyone who made it happen.
  9. I saw these for the first time at the Pro-Am. Cliff was using one, and told me all about it. Very cool!
  10. A word to the wise: Make sure you have an appropriate limited liability business entity between you and your clients, and plenty of commercial liability insurance in place. Otherwise, your business idea could turn everything into a lose-lose-lose situation in a hurry. Good luck with the venture.
  11. IDPA's position on allowing Glocks and M&Ps in SSP but not allowing XDs is fairly preposterous. From a practical perspective, any of the above models with a well-tuned competition trigger is going to be functionally equivalent to the others. None of them are double-action, at least not in the usual sense of the phrase. But none of them are single-action in the traditional sense, either.
  12. I am working the match. If you did not get this worked out you can ship it to me at work and I can bring it over. PM me if you are interested. The USPSA match at the range Sunday was a nice teaser for this match I am ready!! Think you got the wrong guy. You might PM Mike to make sure he got his ammo shipped. I got it handled--hopefully it will be waiting for me at the motel when I check in on Friday! Thanks anyway.
  13. I will be running a wheelgun at the Iowa Sectional. But if you remind me when we get closer, I will bring you a small handful of my 9mm ammo so you can take it home and give it a try.
  14. Looks beautiful--great Dremel work! On the other hand, I think before investing that kind of time, I'd just chop the hammer Carmonize-style. (Hell, even doing that takes some time, if you want to make it look right!) If for some reason I wanted to retain the IL parts, I'd simply order up a Randy Hammer from Apex. But, regardless of all that practical stuff--it's an absolute jewel of a hammer now! With no nasty spur to ugly it up.
  15. The rulebook has a drawing that makes it pretty clear that the rules are contemplating point #16 as the "hipbone." When in doubt, read and view the entire rulebook. The answer is usually there.
  16. Heck, if it were me, I'd just slap on a FO sight and magwell, maybe adjust the sear spring a little, and run it just the way it is. When the finish got really ugly, I'd sent it off for hard chrome. You already have a nice custom gun. Might as well spend your hard-earned money on primers and bullets!
  17. I'm still running 5" XDs, when I shoot Production (which was quite a bit last year). One is a Springfield Custom Shop job, and the other is a Canyon Creek custom. They're pretty sweet pistols. I do not suffer from 5.25 envy at all! My load is a 95-gr. MGHP going around 1350. I know that goes against conventional wisdom, but I really like how it feels--cycles the gun very fast and very reliably. I shoot the exact same load through my 9mm SS 1911s, incidentally.
  18. Not sure on the coated bullets--maybe somebody else can chime in on this. Yes, 25-2s are all square-butt guns. It's not terribly difficult to round-butt them with a big belt-sander or grinding wheel.
  19. Just kidding around, boyz! Sam and I are sending in our forms today. We will be shooting on the Revo Super Squad on Sunday. After his Area 5 victory, Sam thinks he's big-time. I intend to put him back in his place.
  20. Sinclair makes a nice-looking hand priming tool also, but I haven't actually handled one yet. I believe it only takes proprietary Sinclair shell holders.
  21. Yeah, there's a crush point that is past Federal factory that is optimal for ignition reliability in guns with super-light action jobs. Cyberiad is correct, though, that you don't want to crush them too much, or you start to have problems going too far the other way. You want them below flush, and starting to flatten out. The slight flattening means they are fully seated against the bottom of the pocket, and you won't waste any energy by having the hammer finish the seating job.
  22. Keep in mind that 25-2s usually need jacketed bullets to shoot decently. I've never viewed this as an issue, as I "outgrew" shooting cast bullets through my revolvers several years ago. Life is too short for cheap cigars and cast bullets, if you ask me!
  23. I usually use a drop of red loctite when I install a front sight on a revo to prevent the wiggle.
