  1. If the hammer foot properly engages the rebound slide, the hammer block has no immediate function and is merely a redundancy. I usually take it out in a competition gun.
  2. If you have a nice action with the floating hand, it's fine to leave it in. If it's messing with the DA pull, replace as Warren describes.
  3. Astonishing.....and refreshing! It appears (at least when these results are taken at face value) that literally nobody sandbagged his way into a class win!
  4. If my wife tried to control my firearm purchases, there would be another kind of upgrade happening.
  5. Looks like the one Cliff has been using for years.
  6. Rich Brethour and I have a side bet.....I'm shooting my XD against him with a 627. I was trying to establish that 8-shot revolvers are not truly competitive in Production Division, and Rich was the only one to take me up on my challenge!
  7. It's some sort of set-up. Watch out.
  8. That's because they don't need any sort of lock to secure the firearm! You will never find your revolver on the ground with the Blade-Tech. That is not necessarily the case with the various other "speed" holsters.
  9. This might be a good time to point out that there is no "drop-in trigger kit" for revolvers that will provide consistently satisfactory results.
  10. I'll make you a deal.....you send me some Sam Adams Octoberfest, I'll drink it and piss it out, then ship it back to you. It will taste just like Summer Shandy.
  11. I'm just getting started with the MG 142s (mainly because Zero seems to have discontinued the 150s I have been using the last couple years) for .38 Short Colt. The 142s seem to reload as fast as anything I have tried in my 8-shooters, and they're plenty accurate. I want my .38 Short Colts to reliably make 130+ PF in all my guns, so the load I have settled on is 4.2 grains of N320 at 1.140" OAL. So far so good, but it's still early.....
  12. Some people obviously have too much time on their hands!
  13. Today we shot our annual pin shooters reunion match--talk about a blast from the past! For the old-time pin-shooters here on BE, do any of these names ring a bell? Don Koch Mark Yardley Rollie Leighton Steve Dixon Eric Viers Kenny Frost These Second Chance regulars were all in attendance at today's reunion match in Iowa, along with a bunch of other friends and family members. I hadn't shot with some of these guys in nearly 20 years, so it was awesome seeing everybody again. [Results: I won the 5-pin main event and the 8-pin revolver reload event, Rollie won the open optics event, Mark won the .22 event, and Don won the shotgun match.]
  14. I find that looking at the moonclip while it's still on the holder is one of the keys to consistent revolver reloads. I bring the gun down near my belt, get a visual focus on the moon before I even grab it, and then watch it all the way into the cylinder.
  15. Yep, grind a little off the end of the grip mount screw, and it will tighten right down.
  16. Latest and greatest is the North Mountain Moon Clip Holder! (Have you talked with Bob about your broken holder?)
  17. Agreed. There are people (mostly the little old hens on the S&W collector forum) who will swear they have experienced good results shooting cast lead bullets from 25-2s, but that has never been my experience. Every 25-2 I've handled has the tendency to spit cast bullets dang near sideways, leaving obvious keyholes on the paper. (I currently own six 25-2s, and have handled a bunch of others.) They sometimes shoot better with cast bullets sized .454" or .455", but it's a whole lot easier to just stick with jacketed.
  18. Great post! I have always maintained that 6-major and 8-minor revolvers are much closer to parity than most people realize. Looks like in this instance, in your hands and on these particular stages, the two platforms were a virtual wash.
  19. I have used a 6.5" 25-2 off and on in competition for more than 25 years. Here's what I recommend: Hogue rubber grips Hogue long cylinder release EGW FO pinned front sight Millett target rear sight (now discontinued) action job and aggressive chamfer Ranch Products moonclips 230-gr. RN jacketed bullets North Mountain moonclip holder whatever holster you prefer
  20. Gun shipped out yesterday afternoon. Should arrive early next week.
  21. If it turns out that Hi-Viz doesn't make one, check out the SDM line of FO revolver sights.
