  1. Even with the new ESR loads i still use a Miculek grip. The shelf had to go as did some recontouring, a little sandpaper grip and there perfect. Nothing seems to work as well for me. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...topic=15350&hl= This is the contouring i do to all my grips.....
  2. 185 berrys over 4.9gr clays, 170 pf from 4" 625, recoil is a bit sharper than my old SSR load of 4.5 gr for 145 pf. The benefits are that there is a faster reset and the brass expands to keep gas blow back from crudding chambers, and brass.I shot a local match today (ESR) and everything worked well.
  3. Welcome aboard Jerry, Of all my guns i shoot in IDPA or USPSA I shoot my 625 loaded to 165 pf at least one class higher than any of my other guns. What more is there to say? Revos Rule
  4. Last weekend i needed a break from my regular weekly IDPA, monthly ICORE, and monthly USPSA hand gunning. SO i went to a USPSA Rifle match I practiced the night before in a indoor range... WOW what a blast at the match,,,,a nice AR and 40 round COF min......i ended up in the middle of the pack but i couldnt have been happier....what fun it is to try shooting other games.... Jus my .02 Frederick Haring
  5. Sam I just joined USPSA and will quallify with revolver first then probally production or lim 10, SO i dont think its a matter of not enough interest. I had put my revolver on the shelf for a few months because of the IDPA rules. But now i will just shoot more USPSA. In answer to your question i started in IDPA, even thou i knew of IPSC. why? because i was a newbie and was intimated. No one i know likes the new revolver rules in IDPA, but i wont bash IDPA.....My belief is there will be a lot more cross over shooters now.....thats all, In the end it will benifit both shooting sports i think And yes i will practice now so when i do meet you i wont get ma ass waxed to badly Frederick Haring
  6. Light tunnels? After a few weeks to let these new rules sink in......they really dont seem so far fetched. Put another way we have (thread drift) speed limits.....but who dosent exceed them by a few miles an hour? I have come to believe these new rules are to curtail the OUTragous violators. 55 mph in a 30 mph zone.....not 32 in a 30...Even when i SO im still a shooter, and the hardest thing is to treat a competator fairly when he clearly is cheating the intent. Without the light tunnel rule we would have to tollerate whatever a shooter chooses to wear That being said yes i have replaced 2 guns, and am in the process of replacing 3 holsters and mag pouches, But in the end i think it will improve the sport.. just my .02 Frederick Haring
  7. I havent been a posting member long but I like the politeness of the BE forum most. The thing that i hate the most and what i saw as the start of the down hill slide was when arguments started over equiptment and guns in a certain sport, Being a revolver shooter i was dissapointed that such a small group of shooters cound not find enough common ground to be civil. Yes i include myself in this last statement SO i rehibilated and went and shot a major match no dont ask how i did....I had fun again and for people that have had one my match was like a train wreck Frederick Haring
  8. Yes Redmist, It has made me rethink my commitment to revolver shooting . As a result I will requallify in ESR and shoot them both. I still have 2 nice 4" 625s one full rib, one mountain set up the same. My new gun i will get running this year is a Old style 686 i picked up new in a box and doing action job now. springs, altered Jerry grips (love them but that horrid thumb shelve gets the grinder) and with +P bunny f*rt loads it should be a joy. In answer to your question I learned a revolver first....and yes it improved my ssp, esp, and cpd shooting. It has something to do with trigger control, and making sure u see sights So in the end i boil down a few Com-tac holsters to get rid of that sinfull light tunnel and all is still good....wOOt!!!!!! I start new season today shooting with RO at winter classic. (flashlights) then tomorrow RO the Sturms Classic. I will shoot CDP because its all i practiced with as this new rules came down....the bright side is i will watch a good REVOLVER shoot... Some of the Top revolver shooters will be here..... Frederick Haring
  9. Happy Bday a few days late Sam.... Good luck wheel gunning this season Frederick Haring
  10. Bill in full disclosure i voted to shoot both because i love revolvers. as far as major matches and the nationals go. well I will wait until there is a trend and shoot with the competition.Revolver was a small enough class as it was. I think at the MID south regionals we had 1 master, 2 xperts, and a few sharpshooters, total of maybe 6. With these numbers in mind i will probally call the match director and tell him i want to shoot the division with the most shooters in it and just take enough gear hopefully i can get in with the group. I cant imigane driving 300 miles or more to a match to compete against 5 others to find they all are in a different class and i am just competing against myself... I mean what does SSR champion mean if you were the only shooter in that class? Frederick Haring
  11. rwmagnus, If they let me again, I will work as SO at the nationals. I worked the 2 car stage with Ted and Melissa off this forum. If not i would join a all revolver squad. I shot and worked with both them most of the week. Good folks maybe i need Ted to teach me speed loaders Frederick Haring
  12. What he says. I love it Frederick Haring
  13. From the first version to where the rules are now released, I am very pleased with the changes. SO what will be the game to chase at nationals? Power up reclassify and chase ESR at nationals? or learn to shoot my new SSR speed loader gun? My final question is if i reclassify in ESR and shoot SSR will i need a new SSR classification? and if i do, does that mean i stay as last classified or is it possible now to move back in classification? Frederick Haring
  14. I can live with the new rule Book now, Many thanks to Bill W and Joyce, Dru and staff for the hard work and listening to suggestions. See you folks on the range. (time to quit whinning and practice....practice....practice) Frederick Haring
  15. Yes now the new rulebook......whew Its shooting season again I got much the same Email from HQ Frederick Haring
  16. The message i try to convey is that revolver shooters make up a small percentage of shooters. It is frusterating enough to have headquarters rewriting our SSR-ESR rules and figuring out how to enjoy our sport without having divisions among revolver shooters. Sam i put my revolver down over the new rule book. since revised and soon to be released. I needed a break until equiptment and rules are here i will just enjoy and learn to shoot my CDP better. And a last note I think that HQ has done a fine job addresessing our concerns . Yes this means i will probally buy new guns, holsters mag pouches ect. But heh I do that all the time anyways with out rule changes (time to just shoot and have a good time again) Frederick Haring
  17. For the many SSR shooters that used the 625 , we considered it like any other gun platform. As for me I didnt go into the sports store and ask for a IDPA GAMERS gun. I looked at the equiptment used by our local shooters, then i practiced until i mastered some of there techniques. I have a hard time following anyones logic that will bash another revolver shooter because of LEGAL equiptment. Most competators chose there equiptment, (their choice) Most will practice until they master there equiptment With regret as much discussion as we have had on the SSR-ESR and a portion of the shooters feeling that SSR (with 625s) are nothing but gamers, I have retired my 625 until the new rules come out. OK now i wont have to feel like im a "Gamer" at Feb Winter Classic match But one last thought.......Since i put up my 625 SSR Master, and i will shoot as a CDP SS Will I still be a "gamer?"
  18. I would think that the 686 loaded with a 158 RN just to bunny fart pf and dropped from a safariland comp ll would make a good competative gun. I still dont understand how anyone that shoots a revolver thinks a 625 is a gamer gun. When i think gamer it brings to mind a person who stretches the rules into FTDR space. Not a fair competator who plays by the rules....Within the guidelines.... Just my .02 Frederick Haring
  19. 300 lb yes u are correct. And I just couldnt stand a blah black stock and a friend picked up the ace off a prize table so i got it at 50% cost. Anyways I had a hoot as SO, won 2 nice guns in raffles. (CZ75 at IDPA Nationals) and this from a Wilson donated certificate to club i shoot at. I shot my way from SSR SS to SSR master, Got to shoot and RO Nationals. Yes 2004 was a good year
  20. I was SO for a year and won a coupon in raffle. so i added a few $ and this is my new start for 3 gun
  21. Congrats Sam, I saw the scores and u beat very good shooters, Sorry i didnt have the chance to make it. If u have the chance we have a Winter Classic comming up first part of feb, In springdale, IDPA (some flashlight) lots of fun, there will be some revolver shooters. Congrats again Mike L is a hard man to beat....(this means he trounces me) Frederick Haring
  22. Good job posting clarification Bill and Joyce , many shooters were concerned at how the new rules would affect us. We now have official responces from HQ. Frederick Haring
  23. Heh Bubber, I will be getting a 686 and practicing speed loaders now while i descide if i will shoot in ESR. I saw no real reason for a second division, but then i havent been exposed to SSR long enough to learn the tricks either.
  24. OK I havent posted in a while, I have read the new rule book and it out lawed 2 of my guns . With posted weights of 43 oz. on smiths web site it pretty well rules out the N frame guns...At least my other N frame old style 625 mountain I can still shoot SSR with bunny fart loads in AR brass right (speed loaders) Then push 165 pf cdp loads and moon clip for ESR. But then they did a weight limit to SSP and it killed my SIG 226st, But its still ok for esp right? So really all im out is $200 in holsters and buying a new SSP gun....To end this post on a postive note i think i will send my gamer 625 4" to clark and have it bored to 450 roland....(deer hunting is better than paper weights). I love shooting IDPA, I wish that the BOD had not gutted SSR so radically Frederick Haring
  25. I want to Thank Ted Murphy and Melissa Ann, From this fourm I had just finished my first IDPA nationals, totally exhausted, grabbed ma gear and took off back to Little Rock (25 miles) to shower and crash, Upon pulling in to the Hotel I was unloading my gear and found that I had Had BRAIN FADE I has left MY PRO EARS 25 miles back on the range What a sinking feeling i had knowing i still had 4 days to SO and had probally lost them. When I came down from shower to get something to eat Melissa and Ted informed me that I had left them on the last stage and they had recovered them and were safely in there car...WHEW!!!! I just wanted them to know how much i appriciate what they did for me....Thanks Frederick Haring
