  1. This was the target included in my CZ75 Shadow T from CZC: The pistol: It's not a stock 75 Shadow, it's the one worked over by CZCustoms and also has the short reset trigger in it. I put in a lighter mainspring to get the DA pull (and to a lesser degree the SA pull) down a bit. It's around 6.25lbs DA and a tad under 3 SA if I remember correctly. It's a sweet shooting pistol. I went with the 75 instead of the SP01 because of the old rule book weights. It was easier to just get this one rather than fiddle with the SP01. The SP01 should fit under the new rules.
  2. Warren/Sevigny is what I have for the most part. I do shoot an M&P9Pro with the regular whatever they came with sights. To be honest, I shoot them just as well as the others. In my own head anyway.
  3. The way I figure it, if the gun is pointed in a safe direction, which is always is when doing such a procedure, who cares. If it goes off, I go home. BTW, I don't mean to make it sound like I take it lightly. I'm very careful in lowering the hammer. But to have someone like an RO/SO freak out on me while doing it makes the process considerably more dangerous than just doing it on its own. I also talk to the SO ahead of time, usually before the first stage, that I need to manually lower the hammer. I know it's not needed, but it keeps them from being surprised.
  4. I have 17, 15, and 10 round 9mm mags. The 10 rounders are incredibly stiff and hard to seat. I think that's just the way they are designed. I guess SW just wanted to make sure their 10rnd mags couldn't be 11rnd mags. Only think I can tell you with IDPA is skip the tac reload or really slam it home when you insert a 10rounder.
  5. Rather than rewrite the same thing, I'll just say that's basically how I do it, too.
  6. This is moot anyway. Round dump on the target prior then do a slide lock reload and tag the last target twice without having to stop to reload and reaquire the target..
  7. Very unusual. I found the Comp AEK too light actually, not because of the 2.5lb pull, but because the spring in the hinged trigger was actually stronger than the trigger return spring and it would cause the trigger to bump when being pulled. Put the original TRS back in and it's a tick over 3lbs. Ok by me.
  8. I didn't even shoot my G34 before changing out the factory sights. Warren Tactical Sevigney with FO front.
  9. beltjones, Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Talked to CZC and the pistol is heading back to them this week.
  10. That's a stock 34. Hey sorry it took so long to get back to this. Here are a few (poorly done) videos showing the trigger pull. As a reference, this pistol is a CZ75 Shadow Target Custom from CZC and has the short reset trigger in it. The only other mod is it has an 11.5lb hammer spring vs the 13lb that I believe comes with it. DA pull is a hair over six pounds and SA is about 3lb 3oz. DA pull: SA pull and pretravel: I will say there is no weight on that pretravel. You know it's there, but it's nothing until you get to the sear and then it's about 3lbs then hammer down. Have you ever played with anyone else's Shadow that had a short reset trigger mod? Because I would bet $20 that yours doesn't have one. That looks perfectly stock to me. I have played with a couple of other CZs, but not any shadows with an SRT done. The reset is definitely shorter than the ProTek I had. I bought the gun brand new from CZC and ordered it with the SRT. I'd be surprised if it didn't have the SRT in it. Would be curious to try someone else's, though. Looking at beltjones' vid, I'm not sure that is a good comparison. Does the SRT also reduce pre-travel? beltjones, could you post a vid starting with the trigger back and slide cycled, then release to reset and pull the trigger again, similar to my vid?
  11. Reset then an SA pull: As a reference, a stock Gen4 G34: The reset on the CZ looks longer than it is. It feels as short, if not shorter, than the G34 actually. Probably due to the 3lb pull.

  13. I have a 75 Shadow Target Custom from CZC that has the SRT in it. I'll take a vid pulling the DA trigger, the SA trigger, and the reset on it. I have a G34 with a stock trigger, but no mods on that yet. I'll get it posted as soon as I can.
  14. I believe you meant to say that you "can" start cocked and locked in ESP. That's where I see most of the CZ's. I've recently been bitten by the CZ bug as well. I'm having great fun with "just" a CZ-75B. Hey yeah, sorry, meant you "CAN" shoot ESP cocked and locked..
  15. When comparing scores after an IDPA match where I shoot SSP-EX, I look at the overall and the all scores in SSP/ESP. To me, there is no real difference between those two. I don't see the point in looking at the revolvers and CDP is close, but you have to account for the fact they are dealing with a higher power factor and most likely more mag reloads (sometimes they get a better spot to reload because of it, though). Oh, and I would NEVER sandbag a classifier. If I could get MA and never have to do a SSP classifier, that would be a-ok by me!
  16. That's correct. I tell the SO about it before the first stage. I don't think there is anything written that you have to, but it's a nice courtesy to them. They may get a little excited seeing your finger go on the trigger. Be advised, though, you drop it hard or it slips while doing it, you're done for the day. That is assuming you're shooting SSP. If you shoot ESP you can't can start cocked and locked. Edited, fat fingers.
  17. I have the 75 shadow target custom from CZCustom and love it. A little over 7lb DA and 3 and change on the SA. With the SRT in it, the reset makes a glock feel a mile long. Points well and relatively soft recoil. Functions fine on WWB-type ammo (I don't reload). I shoot IDPA and at the time the 75 was easier to get into SSP/ESP than the SP01, though that has changed now. I don't shoot my 75 all that much right now, but it'll be my ESP gun when I get MA in SSP.
  18. I have the 75 Shadow Target (close enough for talking about sights I guess). I don't mind the adjustable rear and it's held up well, but I wish the rear notch was a little wider. My other comp pistols have WTs or Dawson's that are a little wider in the back so it makes shooting the CZ a little different. I guess a careful application of a file could solve that issue. Do they make wider rear notches that could be easily swapped out?
  19. I guess it might not be an exact answer, but roughly what difference in pulls will there be between a 13lb and 11.5lb springs?

    P30L Holster

Do you mean IWB or OWB? I assume OWB, check out the "international" and "belt holster" from comp-tac. They're pretty good. They also make IWB holsters for the P30L as well.
  21. Yeah it was a pretty good time. I didn't see any SOs make a call that wasn't deserved, though. There were a couple of stages that had shooting positions which provided difficult cover positions. #3 shooting around the inside threat at the first clamshell target down the hall it was difficult without busting cover. #9 I believe, the pizza stage. It could be difficult getting around the targets quickly without busting cover. The way the targets and the non-threat was set up, that was a left-hander's stage IMO.. Saw more than one guy get nailed for reloading while not behind cover, oops. Had a real good time and did better than I figured considering I haven't shot more than 200 rounds in the last few months and I was shooting a new M&P9 Pro that had about 50 rounds through it...! I did make a few mistakes (got a cover call) and pulled some shots that I should have made. Ah well. Ken O does a hell of a job putting on a match. Was a great time. On to the Independence match and the PA State this month.. !
  22. Comp-tac International with the belt loop or paddle attachment works well IMO.
  23. Hah good one. I guess IDPA pays more attention to the 'tac' part. That's quite true, gave me a good laugh. I do use Comp-tac for IDPA though, it's great gear. Yeah it's about all I use as well. Good stuff.
