    Glock Gen.4

So does the adjustable back straps allow the pistol to point lower? I love Glocks and shoot them almost exclusively, but they point slightly high for me.
  2. Awesome info Tim. Thanks! Did you thread the barrel and who did the work?
  3. I wonder if just loping off 4 " will lighten it plenty? The barrel is .925 in front of the gas block and thicker behind that! Does Benny do threading work that is specifically concentric to the bore so that I could eventually put a can on it? Threading for cans must be more precise than for brakes and flash hiders.
  4. Thanks for the replies. If I cut it back to 18" - I may have to mess with the gas ports - correct? I'm leaning toward 20" because I think that ensure no reliability issues resulting from the shortening. Am I correct in my thinking? BTW - I may also use it for deer with a low cap mag. 200 yards and under most likely. 308 is such a versatile caliber. Here's the rifle. It's the new model that has the non-high rise upper receiver, forward assist and dust cover.
  5. I just picked up a very nice LR-308 with a 24" stainless bull barrel and match trigger. I haven't shot it yet, but hope to this weekend. I really like it, but it's too long and heavy for my taste. I'll use it to shoot up to 600 yards or so, so I don't want to cut the barrel too much and loose lots of velocity - nor do I want to mess up the reliability. I'm thinking of cutting it to 20". Thoughts/opinions? Thx.
  6. Congrats. I good gig is a great thing!

    Canine cancer

+1 - that sucks. Keep thinking about the great life that she had with you.
  8. I just got a new ThinkPad with Windows 7. I work for myself and have lots of data to migrate from the old computer. Windows 7 has a migration utility - based on using my wireless router as a network. When I began that process, the computer estimated the precess would take 3 days! I can't have my computers locked up for 3 days. I also have an external hard drive that I could use. Suggestions for the best way to migrate appreciated! Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the great replies! The seller actually volunteered to take the Ava to a local Chevy dealer for an inspection today. It will cost me $100, but I think it's $ well spent.
  10. Ron - thanks for that excellent reply! Is replacing the belts an expensive job on this truck? I usually thing of replacing the timing belt around 100k? Yep - the Ava is a gas hog, but I don't drive much and really like the versatility of the truck. Cy
  11. I work at home and drive very little. I'm tired of having a car payment (on a great but expensive car) and want to buy a used car with cash. I found one I like - a 2004 Chevy Avalanche Z71 with about 80k miles and an extended warranty up to 100k miles. I want to get it inspected before I buy. It's a major PITA to get the truck for him for an afternoon and take it to a shop for inspection for various logistical reasons. There are some mobile car inspectors who will go to the car and I don't have to be there. Here's one: Mobile inspectors Questions: * are these types of inspections any good? * can they appropriately inspect the suspension, ball joints, etc on ramps - without putting it on a lift? Thanks!
  12. Russell - thanks for running the tests and posting! Great stuff
  13. The Sabre barrel is a great choice. I have a CMMG lightweight 16" middy upper that's very nice and light. However, it's not my first choice for a 3 gun rifle - the light weight makes it bounce around more than my other uppers.
  14. +1. The breeder that treated her like that should be beaten.
  15. THAT is freaking awesome!
  16. My first AR is a 16" heavy barrel. It's actually a pretty flat shooting, quick handling rifle. I would choose it over my other upper for matches <150-200 yard or so. I also have a lightweight 16" middy. Very light and good handling, but bounces around much more than the 16" HBAR. Not great for 3 gunning.
  17. Well, the cost of firearms has increased more that overall CPI and are a better investment than most mutual funds in the last couple years. So . . . it's a good investment on your part That's how I justify it anyway . . . .
  18. I don't have one, but I hear good things about them. I'm pretty sure they outsource all manufacturing - and supposedly everything meets milspec requirements. Pat Rogers and Jeff Gonzales (LE/Mil/Civ trainer and Ex-SEAL) both speak highly of the products and they see a lot of AR's in their classes. I've trained with Jeff a couple times and respect his opinion.
  19. I'm with Rich. I have both. I think barrel profile has more effect than carbine vs. middy gas system. Now carbine vs. rifle is another story . . . A 20" upper (even Govt profile) with a good break is almost like a .22 mag . . .
  20. Wow - very impressive Mig. Congrats to the Migs!
