  1. Better late than never - happy [belated] birthday Mark! Cy
  2. OO - love the merle Danes! She is cute and has a very sweet face. Our first Dane was a mantle merle (in avatar).
  3. Tod - her coat and coloring are very similar to the WR's. The blue Danes look like really big WR's. They are both German breeds and have many similarities (Great Danes are not actually Danish - go figure). Body shape is very similar, but on different scales. Pezco - we will leave her ears natural (floppy). They started clipping Dane's ears because they were originally bred to hunt boar and the boars were ripping their ears. The cropped ears look cool, but they're a big hassle at first. Having a puppy is enough hassle by itself
  4. The females range from 120-145 or so. The males are larger.
  5. Thanks guys. It doesn't translate in the pics, but the steel blue coat looks really cool against green grass. Sophie weighed in today at a solid 25 pounds - the same weight as our 7 year old Corgie. The Corgie isn't sure about her yet . . . Sophie has German bloodlines. The Euro Danes are shorter and thicker than the American lines - more Mastiff-like. The only thing that matters to us, however, is health and temperament.
  6. Our 10 week old Great Dane - "Sophie" - in the back yard.
  7. Picked up this book on Tod's recommendation. Reading now.
  8. Not only you didn't know dogs have belly buttons, you also failed either Spanish or Italian. Bella is the first name of the Hungarian actor that played Dracula back in the 30's! OK Nemo - the penalty for correcting my prose is that you must now find the belly button on this dog. Please contact the owner and report back after finding it
  9. . . . and it worked! We're bringing her and her outee belly button home on Sun. We're thinking about calling her "Bella" which, of course, is short for belly button.
  10. Resurrecting an old thread and providing proof that dogs have belly buttons! Case in point - our 9 week old Great Dane (we pick her up on Sun - no name yet). Look closely - she has an "outee"
  11. For a 1x red dot, Aimpoint rules the day IMO.
  12. I tried Mozy. My hard drive is so large that after TWO DAYS of backing up I pulled the plug. I want to back up "in the cloud" but my data is so large that it may not make sense . . .
  13. Flex - My condolences and prayers go out to your family.
  14. +1. I had back surgery in late November. Doing MUCH better now. Rehab is the key - and many do it wrong IMO - including many PT's. I found a top PT who specializes in backs at my gym. He has helped me tremendously and made me understand the dangerous advice that many PT's give. Hint - do not do crunches if you have lumbar spine issues. Here is THE book on back rehab: Low Back Disorders and Treatment The book is very technical because it's written for healthcare providers - but has great exercise and rehab suggestions.
  15. Many of the Founding Fathers were prominent and wealthy men. They had EVERYTHING to lose in a war. Yet, they never backed down. Very few of those types of men left today. So, but not many . . .
  16. Far, far more important than Madoff, IMO.... I haven't full read the SCOTUS opinions, yet, but I was a little disappointed that they weren't stronger... Oh well. Take what you can get It's nice to see that there's some common sense left in the US - but it was interesting that it was a 5-4 decision!
  17. Excellent reputation and products. I carry a J Frame in one of his pocket holsters. Good stuff.

    What I love!

    Awesome - congrats!
  19. Well done. Mini-mart is a short range classifier. I also shoot it with a target focus, but still aware of my sights generally. The goal is to know what you need to see for different targets to make the shot based on the size/distance/difficulty/ movement (if any) of the target. You know you can shoot the targets at that distance without a clear front sight - don't think that applies to all targets though. One size does not fit all.
  20. +1 - a Burwell trigger job and sights of your choice, then you're good to go
  21. Fergus - I don't know anything about the Nighthawk Custom Talon II. I just wanted to say that's a great looking dog in your avatar! Irish Wolfhound?
  22. Thanks for all the replies. I'll just stick with the SS for now. You guys just saved me some cash!
