  1. I am in agreement about the Silent Thunder. They are great holters. Thanks, Mike
  2. For jacketed or plated 115 or 124 gr bullets I use Solo 1000. If lead I use Clays. You will have to work up your own load for the Glock 19, but that is what I shoot it in or my Browning Hi Power. Good luck, Mike
  3. As far as accurcy goes, Presision Moly 200 swc or Mitchell Bullets 200 lswc with either Clays or 231 is great. Mike
  4. Have used 5.0 gr for a 230 gr rn and 5.4 for a 200 lswc to make major in my 5" 1911 essex Thanks, Mike
  5. Nice stage. Tell the whiners to take a hike or pound sand. Mike
  6. I carry a Commander .45 acp in a iwb holster all the time. Use factory ammo. Doesn't miss a beat. As far as ambi safety have not had that problem. I use either a Garrett Solo, Crossbred super tuck. Also will carry a BHP in a VMII at times. Very comfortable also. Good luck with whatever you choose. Mike
  7. Clays for 230 gr fmj or hp max is 4.0 grains. Start at 3.5-3.7 try it then decide to shoot it. Mike
  8. If the RO can not explain and or show you what you did to be DQed, then it can not happen. I know if I have to tell some shooter he or she is done for the day, I explain what I saw and so forth. Most folks do not like it but they usually agree when it is fully brought to their attention. I hope you handled it well, sounds like you did. Sorry to hear about it. Mike
  9. I have a Garrett Silent IWB for a 1911 Commander and use it for a BHP alot. Works great for both pistols. Mike
  10. I have been shooting Uspsa when it was IPSC. Been doing this for 27-28 years, nobody brings me my brass, nor do I sit on my ass in a chair before the first stage and just move from stage to stage not helping. The older shooters need to set the example by helping where they can and do what they can, not just sit on your ass til it is time to shoot. Mike Merkler USPSA TY 11297 IDPA A03930
  11. If you are ever in San Antiono Tx, the club Alpha Mike has one of these Polish Plate Racks. Alot of fun, but very bullet hugury. Thanks, Mike
  12. You should get an email to let you know how far backlogged they are. I ordered some 230 fp moly bullets 2 weeks ago and the email I got said 8-10 weeks out. No big deal, they will get them to you. I know sometimes it is hard to wait for them. Thanks, Mike
  13. Have been using Solo1000 for years in 9mm and 45 ACP. I have found if you push the 9mm lead rounds over 1050 they smoke. Have been using 125gr fp lead moly coated in a BHP and a Glock 19 3.8 gr. No leading or drop off in accuraccy. 45 ACP 200gr SWC at 850-875 are fine. Good luck, Mike
  14. rgkeller:This discussion and topic is another illustration why the rules need a top to bottom rewrite. I agree but the rule 10.5.10 is what it is based on. Mike
  15. only way weapon will fire is if finger is on trigger. So the movement would be picking up weapon, finger gets on trigger and blam, shot goes off. I would think of that as movement.
  16. sharps4070ss got it right: Which is also based on movement. 10.5.10 Failure to keep the finger outside the trigger guard during movement in accordance with Section 8.5. 8.5.1 Except when the competitor is actually aiming or shooting at targets, all movement (see Appendix A3) must be accomplished with the fingers visibly outside the trigger guard and the safety should be engaged. The handgun must be pointed in a safe direction. He accepted the DQ based on intent. He did not intend to fire the gun at that time so he voluntarily accepted the DQ. If he argued it at all I do not see a way to DQ him unless you can definitively say he was still moving when the gun went off and then use either 10.4.6, or 10.5.10 which ever fits the circumstances the best. The shooter was picking up weapon and he had finger on trigger, weapon goes off. He was in movement. I would call it a DQ. I would respect the shooter for he stuck around and helped the rest of the match. We need more people like that who are not afraid to admit a mistake and move on.IMHO. Thanks, Mike
  17. I can tell you from past history, setting up a club and running it takes alot of time. I have done 2 different clubs in the last 25-30 years. One an IDPA and the other USPSA. Alot of information for setting them up are on the web and you should be about to check your local area as to getting help. Good luck. Mike
  18. If you want the sport to grow, as a club you or someone who has the exprience and the time, needs to put back to the sport. Help new shooters, either as a free class in the evening or at the match. I always suggest that the new shooter watch the first match and then hook up with an exprienced shooter so they have a great time at the match and want to come back. If they want to shoot the match, great. They need a little help all day. A good people person who has exprience works the best. Thanks, Mike
  19. mike4045, I was not being a pia, just asked where the rule was and what it was. We both found the answer as to it having an external hammer can not be in production class. So that put it in limited 10. So please the next time you want to express something on the forum, please explain the whole issue. Thanks, Mike
  20. Recieved comfirmation on Jan 20th and have not recieved anything as of 2/20/13. Mike
  21. rebarrelled a Savage 112 in 22-250 with a Kreger .308 with 11 1/2 twist. works fine. still working up a load for it. Will start with Berger 185's to start. Mike
  22. Have a Glock 19 and 26. I will use a Crossbred Super Tuck at times which is a IWB. Something to think about. Mike
  23. Depending on what I pull out of the safe in the morning, it maybe a Glock 19, Browning Hi Power or a Colt 1911 Commander. I will shot comp with any of them with my carry rig. It maybe a VMII,Garrett Solo. Mike
  24. He may have reloaded and magazine on ground, round in chamber and racked it out. That would make sense. Not doing a tac reload and leaving magazine on the ground?
  25. I use Clays, Solo 1000 and 231. Whichever I have on hand. Mike
