  1. Dillion will charge about 100.00 to convert over. The only real difference is the 450B does not have the removeable tool head. Have to screw in each die. No big deal have been doing that for 20-25 years. Mike
  2. Hey Guys, Have used 231 for years for 9mm and 45acp. Came across solo 1000, great and not as dirty, also clays is good, not as dirty as 231, meters as well and works good also. Thanks, Mike
  3. Hey Guys, Have been using some old 450B's for the last 20-25 years and will not look back. NO B/S Warranty thru Dillion, some great folks there. Thanks, Mike
  4. I use 4.3 Clays oal 1.250 crimp .470 runs great Mike
  5. Might try loading the bullet out to 1.250, 200 SWC's need the little bit of lead sholder to feed. I have three Kimber 45acp pistols, only one needed a little throating to run. While I like Titegroup, I prefer Clays, Red Dot or Winchester 231 in 45acp. My favorite load is 4.3 Clays 1.250 length crimp at .470. Check Handloads.com for other loads. I agree with the above post. Do not have Kimbers, have 3 Colts and that works for all 3. Mike
  6. Hey Guys, I have been reloading for 30 plus years and found Lee has a great oversized die for 9mm, 40 and 45 acp. These dies work great in my OLD 450B's. So yes I agree use a carbide oversized die for sizing all cases. It will help with loading and at the range. Sometimes you may find some 9mm cases from a Glock that have a bulge near the base of the case, these dies remove that bulge. Also get a case gauge and use it all the time after you reload. Drop in drop out. Like go, no go. Mike
  7. Hey Buddy, I feel your pain. All the excess closet space is at the level you talk about and do not of any storage places. Mike
  8. When using my Commander, I use 16.5 var spring from wolffe. I shoot a 200 gr swc with 4.3 gr of Clays oal is 1.245-1.250. Works fine. Do not use a shock buff. Mike
  9. Hey Buddy, I have been shooting IDPA since '96 in my area. All the posts that you have gotten say "SHOOT THE CLASSIFIER" do it. Shoot with someone who is just alittle better than you to help you. Consider each stage a single stage to shoot. Do not shoot for flat out speed. Shoot for accuracy and the speed will come in time. Use a timer to create alittle self made pressure on you. Example: Stage 1 String 1-3 2 to the body 1 to the head. Work your draw from 2 seconds to 1.5 with no points down. Another training tool I use is: at home unload pistol and go into the bathroom or somewhere in the house where you have a mirror, close your eyes, draw and the open your eyes to see where you have lined up. Over time, you will find you are lined up on your sights more right than wrong. It just takes practice. These things I use, so they may help you. Good Luck and keep shooting. 66 is not old, hope I am still able to do it at that age and older. Mike
  10. Have two old 450Bs which I converted to the auto primer feeder and auto powder mearsure. Have used them for 25 plus years. No real problems and it I have one, call Dillion and they have a NO B/S warranty will treat you right. Mike
  11. I can only say whatever is comfortable for her, go for it. I carry the 19 and shoot it in matches. Works fine for me. It just depends on what she wants to do. No disadvantage to shooting it vs the 17/34. The key is just shoot and enjoy. Mike
  12. Hey every one, Some are losing sight of the big picture, IDPA is a game with rules. Some do not like or agree with some rules, so be it. Follow the rules and "PLAY THE GAME" or Bitch all you want and play the unsportsman conduct. Do not give the SO/RO a hard time because you(the Shooter) do not play bye the rules. The SO/RO are freely giving their time so no one gets hurt, do things safely, and have a good time. All I can say, is play by the rules and have a good time or be A PAIN IN THE ASS and look like a jerk. Mike
  13. To every one here, IDPA is worth just the range time. Trigger control control, breathing, shooting on the move, all of it. All I can say is just go out and shoot and enjoy. Mike
  14. reptoid and everyone else, I think I found the problem with a little help from my gunsmith. The resizing die in my Dillion 450B was not deep enough, so the cases were not getting full lenght sized. After I reset the die and using a case gauge, low and behold, it works now. Drop in and out of case gauge, and also the barrel. I really feel kind of dumb, but looks like problem solved. Thanks for all the great input. Mike
  15. wes777, The oal is 1.245-1.250 so just a little part of shoulder is there Thanks, Mike
  16. Feederic, Chamber is about normal, I chamber check each round in the barrel, you know, drop in drop out. Barrel is ramped. Have not seen any funny marks on brass. Can run hard ball. I use Mitchell Bullets 200 gr swc. Mag springs were replaced about a month ago. New extractor about 2 months ago. Mike
  17. Ming, Barrel was checked and reramped by a very good smith in Texas. Thanks, Mike
  18. Thanks Greg, Will check that out. Mike
  19. Ron, The last time I pulled the extractor and cleaned out the build-up was less the 200 rounds ago. I use Shooters Choise on a Q-Tip and then make sure the tube is dry before putting the extractor back in the gun. Also, wipe off the extractor. So I am at a loss as to what is going on. The weapon is dead nuts accurate and when it runs it is great. Thanks, Mike
  20. Thanks Guys, Will give that a try. Mike
  21. Hey Guys, Been having a devil of a time with this Colt Series 70 45 ACP.I can run this weapon 150-300 rounds and all of a sudden I start to get failure to feed issues. If I pull the barrel out and clean it and use Shooter's Choice to clean the barrel, wipe the frame and slide down, put it back together, it runs like a top. Let me explain the failure to feed, when it doesn't go into battery, I gently touch the back of the slide and it goes into battery in most cases. At other times, it tries to extract a fired case and will stove pipe or try to pick up another round to feed. I am running a 16.5 var Wolff recoil spring, not such of mainspring though. Load is 4.3 grains of Clays with a Mitchell 200 gr swc, oal is 1.245-1.25. Crimp is .470 Magazines have been mearsured to .458 at back and release is .405. The chamber had a rough spot in it but has been smoothed out. Use a mixture of Dillipn snake oil and Break Free to lube it up til you get your glasses splattered at times. Anybody have some insight as to the next step. Thanks, Mike
  22. Have had it happen with wolf springs for a commander, but they took care of it. replaced the sparing and told me to keep the other one. they have my business. mike
  23. I agree with all that said DO YOU REHAB. Had surgery in 2009 on the right shoulder, two bone spurs. Taken care of and have not looked back. Did rehab 6 weeks after surgery and out of sling. Started shooting again 6 weeks after surgery. As strong as before and have 100% motion and no pain. Good Luck Mike
  24. IDPA allows the first time shooter to shoot a match and would like you to join. You should not force someone to join something so they can shoot the match. That is a load of crap. Sure I am a IDPA S/O Instrustor, but at a mtach I am not going to say you can not shoot the match because you are not a member of IDPA. To join is your deal, do not make it a club issue. Pay your entry fee and go play. Shoot straight and keep your powder dry. Mike
  25. Have 2 old 450s that are converted to the 550's one for small primer and one for large.Works great. Mike
