  1. The only time I go to my 3rd mag is when I do a RWR/TR somewhere along the way or I'm having a really bad day with Steel.......that kicks my butt some times.
  2. I have an assortment of good size band aids, tape (both waterproof and sports), alcohol wipes and gauze. I carry this in a little blue Adventure Medical dental bag because its what I had. I keep baby wipes in the big range bag in case of blood or mud getting all over me. I might later add a small sample of headache & diarrhea meds and some Advil for my knee. I probably should add a sewing needle and tweezers and nail clips for splinters and finger nail issues.
  3. For much of the year, I wear whatever jacket makes sense for the weather. Only in the summer is a vest kinda-sorta mandatory. And stowing a mag only comes up, say, one stage per major competition or half-dozen local matches? Required stowage, yes.. but the more I shot IDPA, the more I found different places/scenarios where it was actually faster to rwr, rather than shoot until slide lock. Last year at the sanctioned match in Little Rock, I think I did 4-5 rwr's that were not required. I wear lined Bass Pro brand carpenter kakis in the winter, tru-spec pants in the cooler but not cold months, and whatever shorts I have when it's hot. Cabelas Safari Vest, and a tech-wear shirt. I have found that it is sometimes faster to RWR too. If your shooting CDP you find it comes up a lot more too when the MD writes stages based on CDP/Revo.
  4. Self Defense Guns have no place in IDPA.
  5. I got 3 that function great in my G35. I got them because they were sold outta 40 mags and no one was buying the 357 mags.
  6. For the record IDPA doesn't have a 180 rule. They have muzzle safe points. I saw a guy argue a DQ once because IDPA doesn't have a 180 rule and Muzzle Safe Points weren't listed on the COF nor stated by the SO. Was a spirited 3 min debate but sweeping yourself or anyone else is always a DQ.
  7. If you had been in a "regular" sized car do you think you would have messed up the unload order?
  8. This is about as small as I get 90% of the time. And I run a MTAC holster so I'd probably sweep myself every time I reholster since it holds it so close to my body IWB. IDPA is a GAME just like USPSA neither are "Real Life".
  9. But that would be a FTDR!
  10. Might want to take a Glock armorers class. The Glock Striker is only partially cocked. The trigger press finishes the rest of the way. Not quite DA, not SA. The Springfield operates the way you describe. I hear ya. I should be more detailed when describing trigger activation. My point still stands though. As far as the USPSA rulebook is concerned the Glock is a SA. My reasoning being that of the 8.1.2 series of rules 8.1.2.1 is the only one the Glock can comply with on a loaded start. Surely we don't need a "safe action" provision. Seems what is there covers it just fine. Grape mentioned the striker pistols as sometimes being treated as a DA. For my education could someone provide a reference to such a case? Thanks. I think you have a good point. I've just assummed that striker fired guns were considered to be DA but the way we apply the rules in USPSA, they are all treated or considered to be SA. It's been about 3 years since I've looked at a IDPA rule book, but it seems that IDPA went as far as putting the different type striker fired gun into different divisions. I shot an XD back then and if I remember correctly, it was considered to be SA, and I was put into some kind of enhanced division, but Glocks were in a different division because of the way the striker mechanism works. Please don't misunderstand me, I don't want us to go the way of IDPA. I think we should continue treating them as SA, and applying the rules as they have been. It keeps it simple that way. Thanks, Chris (AKA: Juice, The Juice, Juice Master, Grapemeister, and Grape) SA is stamped on the grip of my gun, an XD, so I guess it's single action.. :roflol: Springfeild described the XD as a single action gun when it filed with ATF. IDPA just uses that description and some people think it isn't. My whole answer to the XD in ESP is to just sell it and buy a Glock or M&P and shoot in SSP if that's where ya wanna shoot.
  11. I wouldn't mind if they just limited the knee pad to your down side knee. That way they could allow the protection without worrying about the young kids doing a slide on their knee pads like on Act of Valor into cover. I did think about that at one stage where we went down a hallway and had to take a knee at the end.
  12. I think IDPA needs just 3 divisions Plastic 1911s and Really Old Guns.
  13. I wish our club did that! I could use my RMR'd Glock every now and then with my carry holster.
  14. For minor I run 180 grain bullet over 3.1/3.2 grains of Clays.
  15. I don't "need" the money, but I don't like having that much money tied up in something that might not get used as much as it should. Kinda like having a boat constantly parked in the driveway! Stick it in the safe and wait a year or 2 and see if your tastes don't come back to the 2011. I can't tell you how many times I have sold a 1911 and then a few months later had to get another one to scratch that itch.
  16. The glock OEM 3.5 is the same weight as the finely tuned 1911s 4 1/2 lb trigger that is bragged on in all the gun magazines. For a Gen 4 a lot of people like the DOT connector for a nice smooth DA feel.
  17. So you learned the lesson that if you read and know the rules to the Game you can protect yourself when the victim of a "bad call". Where I shoot you get used to the same setups and we shot yesterday at a different range and had more procedures. It was a really good time to ask WHY/HOW in relation to seeing the rules at work.
  18. Both are games with different rules. The only real life thing you learn in these games is that if your a Hostage.........DUCK!
  19. ^^^^ Best idea! I take the whole bag if I have my cart and cooler (it helps hold the cooler in place) and just the inner bag when I don't.
  20. And I'd be a little concerned because you've got the ejector closer to the primer than you need to, when unloading/showing clear..... Changing the trigger housing to get the correct ejector in there takes 2 minutes, once you do it a few times.... And the best $5 to $7 you ever spent if you get FTE like I did when I tested it to see if I "needed" to change it on a compact.
  21. Not sure about the Gen 4 but the springs for the 17/22/32/34/35 were all the same on the Gen 3s.
