  1. I like the trigger pull I have on my glock now that's going to donate the frame. I might look at it in the future after I get the rest sorted out.
  2. No but I have shot a few 38 supers. I know it's not the same thing but I figured it was close
  3. I wanna build a Glock Open gun to run 9mm Major. My part list is as follows for a G34 1) SJC 11 port comp/KKM barrel 2) Dawson hardchormed brass magwell 3) C-More STS and dovetail mount (slide ride) 4) Glockworx Stainless Steel recoil rod and 14 lb spring 5) Mag release with a button on it 6) Slide racker that replaces the backplate (from Brownells) 7) 4 Taylor Freelance +8 (+10 in 9mm) on new glock mags 8) DAA Racemaster and pouches/belt Anyone see any holes in my plans or have any advise as to what to change or add. I'm basically just trying to get one outta the gate with "bolt on" DIY stuff.
  4. I'm going to go slow and work it up once I get everything here. I think Im going with the EGW then my Auto Disk (unless I get a new powder unit too) seat with the micrometer one to keep as consistant a OAL as I can and then my crimp with the Lee Die.
  5. I see it has a decaping option, can I use this as my 1st stage die and size decap with it? I use an old Lee turrent press.
  6. Clays 3.0 - 3.2 in a 40 with a 175/180 gr bullet is THE minor load for most 40 shooters.
  7. I am going to build a Glock 34 into an open gun. I'm going with the SJC combo of 11 port comp and a KKM barrel. From my reading I have gathered the following info. 1) 124 MG HP is the bullet of choice 2) 6.8 to 7.1 grains of Autocomp is the normally range so start off 10% under that 3) Figure out the longest OAL your barrel/magazines can run reliably and use that. 4) Harder than federal Primers either Small Pistol / Small Mag Pistol or Small Rifle Primer 5) A Chrono is a MUST HAVE item. Is there anything I have missed in my research? Can you use the Lee Factory crimp die on 9 Major loads?
  8. Does anyone use the el cheapo tula 9mm ammo for matches? I know a lot of people use it for practice. Just wondered if anyone did since its cheaper than most 9mm bulk.
  9. I'm working on my 1 load to rule them all in my 40. Since it's a Glock it has no feeding issues so I wanted to get the "best" bullet I could and still stay with the less expensive plated ones.
  10. I think the challenge is to keep things in place and not sliding around. Lots of people use the Blade Tech double pouch loop for holsters so it shouldn't be a problem. TecLock is probably the best way togo.
  11. Do the same properties that make JHPs a better choice hold true for plated bullets like Berry and Rainer? Or are you just well off with RN/FP in these bullets for greatest accuracy.
  12. This, plus, Striker fired guns belong in ESP and DA/SA and the like should be SSP. I would also like to see a real BUG catagory, not the after the match 5 round limit sub match they now have. There should be a scoring advanatge for .357/.40/.45 over the 9mm . If IDPA is really serious about guns most people really carry , this would become a seperate division. Why not just wear your fishing vest to a USPSA match and you can have just what you want.
  13. The 10 round limit is easy...just think your on vacation in one of the Ban states
  14. You have to shoot a classifier once a year........if you wanna join today and shoot it tomorrow fine or if you wanna wait 10 months and shoot it. I wouldn't worry about the classifier and just shoot it and see what happens.
  15. I don't foresee allowing what the factory calls a single action into SSP........just think how many people would try to get the 1911 in SSP then. I'd like to see a Major 40 class with full length dust covers for 1911s and a Carry Optics division.
  16. DOT connector is what they came up with to make the Gen 4 feel like the Gen 3 and lot of people say they like it.
  17. The RMRs get changed out once a year so far and I haven't read where any of the old ones were dead when they changed out. You can get 2 or 3 Cmores for what the RMR costs but that's the only experience i have to add to the thread.
  18. 40 short and weak is the say go. You get a "lighter" recoil and if most books give the velocity for the 180 with 3 grains of Clay as the starting load a PF of 130 so you shouldn't ever have to worry about going sub-minor.
  19. 1st time I used the dot on my Carry Gun for more than just group shooting and I used ALL 6 of my mags for a plate rack but it taught me a valuable lesson on learning the dot in odd positions and sweat in my eyes.
  20. Yeah that spin broke the 180 and I think he did it later in the stage too. The 2nd shooter had a LOT better muzzle safety than the 1st. And I love how all the Chinese speak perfect English yet some American's need a translator!
  21. Minimum of five shots. A star is nothing more than a plate rack. There are five individual targets that all must be shot at. The good thing is that no RO can tell which targets were shot at on a moving star so as long as you put 5 down range you avoid FTE's. That's what I thought was correct, but always good to ask and make sure.
  22. APPENDIX D4 — Production Division 4 Minimum bullet caliber / cartridge case length .38 cal. / 9x19 mm (0.354” x 0.748” You can shoot anything bigger than these dimensions. Still scored minor though. So yes you can shoot 40 in Production. Many shoot 40 and claim it can be loaded down to feel softer than 9mm. Another good thing about 40 minor is the start loads for Clays that everyone seems to love will make over PF so you dont have to worry about going sub minor.
  23. I have plans to get a Brazos HP Edge and a "real race" set up. I have never had an inner/outer belt setup before. I have been thinking about going with CRSpeed Versa Pouch and a Bladetech DOH but its there any reason to not just jump in with both feet and get a full DAA setup and learn off of it to start with?
  24. If there are 5 plates on a star do you need a min of 5 shots to have engaged it or is 1 shot enough to dodge the Faliure to Engage PE?
  25. Was there even regular capacity mags back then? Ewww the limited round mag years!! What a dark and terrible period in our history.
