  1. Actually its pretty easy to not fall in love with a second focal plane optic that kicks the $2k pricepoint when there is some great First Focal Plane glass at much more reasonable prices.
  2. Reason #238 why Jaime consistently makes my Top 5 Funniest Sumbitches I Know list
  3. Word for word what Graham said Only to add that it is absolutely reprehensibly that teachers and administrators act with retaliation instead of praise when they are outworked by an obviously talented student.
  4. Ironic that you're the one from a state with dry counties
  5. Too far for you to make it....you better stay home about 45 miles...give or take
  6. Seems like once again becoming familiar with the forum guidelines before you post would be in order. If you had read the Hate Forum Guidelines you would understand that calling out other members is frowned upon...even in the Hate Forum.
  7. At 4k I am not willing to make very many compromises. The eye box as power increases is seriously lacking, and while it has a great feature set it is purely overkill for our purposes. WIth respect to the weapon systems the marines say these are going on, I would suspect they will never see an M2 or MK19. More likely they had funds for optics for those systems in the budget and so that is how the contract read. But I can't see any guys downrange not getting these on rifles as soon as they arrive.
  8. In a previous life I shot a lot of clays. IMO lengthening the forcing cone in a factory gun will offer very noticeable improvement in both pattern and recoil.
  9. No I haven't broken anything, but the question was asked if there was any downside. Although maybe less than common, why increase the chance by detail stripping every 2-300 rds when it is routinely trouble free to go a few thousand without any issues.
  10. Sorry, didn't see this. But much like Gman states. Trigger bows get bent, sear springs get changed, fire control components can be damage, pretravel tabs get bent, and the screws holding the grip in place shoot loose easily if they are not loctited at all times, which is a whole PITA if you are unscrewing them each time. In many cases we are our own worst enemies. The more you play with something the higher the likelihood we screw it up. Almost any custom rifle barrel manufacturer will tell you that they see far more barrels damaged/worn due to cleaning than they ever do from excessive shooting.....there is a lesson there.
  11. Great example of class under almost any circumstance....even his eventual death. He had the most amazing hands in golf, simply unbelievable ability to manipulate the clubhead. I loved golf in high school and I remember distinctly playing with only one club for about two months after reading about Seve learning to golf with only a 7iron and that leading to his amazing hands. RIP and thank you for the motivation.
  12. Off topic but that Bair press gave me flashbacks to being chained up to one reloading trap ammo as a kid....it was their progressive . Finally the old man popped for a Ponsness and things were a little better
  13. Ample evidence that the problem is being caused by the operator, multiple instances of advice to call for first hand real time customer service to correct the issue, direct manufacturer support of the product and personal offers of help, continued refusal to follow good advice = poor quality inanimate object
  14. With all that crimped brass, though, you have a choice of discarding the crimped brass, or spending a lot of money to save it. Guess it depends on how much money you have - I'd throw away the brass. That is a good point too. Throwing away the brass entails sorting it by hand and looking at every headstamp....so if you don't put any value on your time you might be saving some money to throw away the brass, however if you pay think of your time as having a $$ value then the 1050's swaging station saves you a lot of time and effort =$$$$. In the past my opinion was you didn't need a 1050 to load pistol brass but since there is so much NT (non toxic) crimped brass out there it is very nice that every piece of brass gets swaged. My current setup has my first 650 set up to process brass (sizing and trimming) with the 1050 set up to load as you have described with a bullet feeder. I see two valuable advantages here in that I save a lot of time not sorting brass and the ammo coming off the 1050 is loaded faster and much more consistent due to there only being any sort of loading resistance at the swaging station.
  15. Putting the caveat that I realize it's not necessary was intended to prevent this very side discussion. I'm a bit anal retentive about my tools being clean. Guns are tools. I apologize, I have a difficult time guessing intentions. But to be pedantic. Guns are tools, primarily they are meant to work, it they are damaged by cleaning they have lost their function and are no longer tools but useless objects.
  16. Nothing other than wasting your time and the increased possibility of damaging parts in assembly/disassembly. The real question is what purpose does it serve?
  17. A credit report ding for $7 is laughable and easy as hell to clean up if it ever does show up. Tell them to pound sand.
  18. Not close at all. My guess is that it is difficult for most people to continually answer the same question over and over again when a simple search on scope mounts will turn up a wealth of info. If you can find the time to do a search for yourself there are at least 8 mount threads in the first two pages of a search for "scope mounts". I'm leaning towards the American Defense mount especially with the fact a friend can get it for me in the $160ish range... They are far cheaper from Brownell's
  19. Do you want my "original long form" birth certificate in person or can I just email the jpeg to you
  20. Why not just valet and leave them in the car? That's far more secure than your room Only a couple of employees have access to your car but damn near a 1000 will have a key to your room.
  21. I run both the XTR 1-4 and the XTR 1.5-6. I agree that the 1x on the bottom end is far more important than a higher mag top end as well as having as much FOV as possible. If I am shooting Open division and can have an offset sight I think the 1.5 -6 is a great scope. However if I am shooting Tac or any division that limits me to one optic then I run the 1-4. Both scopes are excellent for our game from the standpoint of glass quality, durability, and the usability of their BDC Reticle.
  22. All four of mine needed to be broken apart to get extracted, I was a little sore but I ate pizza that night and was on to normal food the next day. At worst it's only some discomfort and swelling for a couple of days so I would also suggest some PAMPRIN and Vagisil....
  23. +1 on a really good match, wish the weather had cooperated I really needed the last to stages to help out my abysmal showing on stage 3. I walked away from it without my virtue intact. I would like to extend an absolutely tremendous thank to the staff that set it up and made it happen. For those that haven't been you can't imagine the mess from the rain that they must have had to work in/with. THANK YOU THANK YOU! Now for the needy part. I misplaced the sheet of paper I used to write down the 5.11 discount code and the contact info for the FFL for the match. I would appreciate it if anyone can forward that info to me. PM is fine. Thanks
  24. The Sigma's trigger is the least of it's problem. Actually in comparison the to the rest of the gun the trigger is pretty good. IMO get the Glock, after all if you can negotiate it and get for only $200 more than the Sigma is WORTH, the final price should be about $205
