Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I fixed it. I took a dremel and polished the primer punch until it was flat with the lug nut and this seemed to fix the problem. It is good enough that I just ran off 500 rounds with no more catching or crushed primers and this will allow me to get back on the range today and tomorrow. Looks like I will be calling Dillon first thing Tuesday morning to see what could have caused this. As for the pictures of the primers the tops of them were crushed in as when the primer index tray would index a new primer in it would get caught. It only got crushed when I forced it, of course I didn't actually know that was the problem at first. Thanks guys!
  2. Comment @ whatmeworry. I did take a look at the handle and let it down all the way until it stopped by itself and it turns out that when it is at the resting position the primer punch sits just a small amount above (which would make sense for the primers getting stuck. Now I do have one question. I have taken the punch assembly off. Is the top of the punch supposed to be flush with the top of the nut? Mine actually sticks above it a small amount.
  3. I did think of that. Today was the first time that I touched the bolts and they were tightened all the way down so I just put them back to where they were.
  4. Hey guys, I am hoping that someone can help me out here. I have put about 35,000 rounds through my Dillion 650 press since I have had it. Last night I started having a weird problem on the down stroke, as the handle shaft would stick. I took the entire press apart, cleaned it and lubed it. I also swapped out the following parts as they were a little chewed up: 1. Shell Plate Ring Indexer 2. Indexer return spring 3. Index Pawl 4. Primer Index arm with spring After putting this monster back together I was still having the problem. Upon careful inspection I found the problem to be the Primer Punch Assembly (specifically the) Rev B Seater Assembly (small) and the Rotary Primer Disk. The manual states that the primer punch should be raised all the way, which it is and it is snug. I remember reading somewhere that the primer punch should be flush with the platform and or .20 below. As you can see from the picture below mine isn't the case and the end result is crushed primers: Does anyone know how to correct this problem? Thanks Dave
  5. I would go with Apple. The Zune is ok at best. It has a lot less accessories for it and the software is second rate and needs a ton of work. Apple rocks all the way!!
  6. Ok, I have to say that I wish I used lube about 3 years ago. I cleaned out my casefeeder and then sprayed some one shot on all my brass. I put them in a bag and then put them back in the casefeeder and it was even easier to reload that before Thanks guys!!
  7. Hey guys, I have a fast question. I think I know what the problem is and I just need a confirmation. Currently I am not using any case lube (I have some One Shot that should be here next week). I try to keep the casefeeder relatively clean, however there is some residue in there from the brass. After adding the Lee FCD for 9mm you have to be superman to complete the down-stroke and upstroke on the 650. Is the problem that the brass contains some small grit from the cleaning media combined with the use of no case lube? Being that this die sizes on both strokes I would think that this has a lot less room inside the die making this incredibly tight. Kind of off this topic but related. When you reside with the Lee FCD should you see a ring around the bottom of all of the brass? TIA
  8. All I can say is Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!
  9. I just picked up one myself for 9mm and I am very pleased with the results that it produces. Every so often I would get one cartridge that would be a problem and loose about 10 every 600 - 800 rounds.. Last two batches of 600 were 100% perfect I will say that I have some One Shot on the way because I did notice that due to the resizing there is a bit more friction on the last station, but that is an easy fix
  10. Hey guys, I have a question about the base pads on a glock magazine. The g17 is a pretty small gun compared to the STIs that I use for competition, and consequently has a lot more room in the box for things like weighted magazine base pads. Given that I've never seen weighted magazine base pads used by anyone in USPSA Production, I have to believe that they are illegal, but cannot seem to find where in the rules that they are. Based on the rules not saying they aren't, can someone help clarify this for me? 21.7 (New) Magazines Prior restrictions on magazines have been lifted. OEM and aftermarket magazines and base-pads may be used. However, any and all magazines used in competition, must fit into the USPSA box while empty and inserted in the handgun as described in item 7 of this appendix. Grip tape and/or skate board tape are specifically allowed on magazines and base-pads. TIA
  11. Hey guys, I have a question about using skateboard tape on my glock 17 for use in the Production division in USPSA. Both of my questions have to do with shooting in the production division. 1. Is skateboard tape legal on the bottom of the magazines? I see in the old rules it says no, however I did find this: http://www.uspsa.org/rules/2009_Production_Rules_Revisions.pdf - NROI Interpretation for the Production Division Equipment Rules - (Appendix D4) - June 25, 2009 21.7 (New) Magazines Prior restrictions on magazines have been lifted. I am assuming here that this *is* allowed as long as the magazine fits in the box while seated empty in the gun? Am I correct? (I'm just double checking 2. Is there a plug available for the 4th Gen 17 that is legal for USPSA? I have looked at the one that I have for my Glock 34 and it will not fit as there are some extra channels inside the area on the new glocks. I found this in the same rulebook: 22.5 External plugs (such as Seattle Slug) Remains in effect – external plugs which alter the grip profile or extend past the bottom of the grip are PROHIBITED. Thanks a ton guys!!
  12. Congrats and welcome to the family!!!
  13. The best advice I can offer is make sure that you have a full sight picture before you pull the trigger no matter how long it takes. Speed will come in time and it doesn't take as long as one would think
