  1. I struggled adjusting my gas block because of the length of my HG. Just picked up a JP LMOS and was able to use the tip Jesse showed. Removing the HG makes things a WHOLE lot easier! Thanks Jesse.
  2. That could work if your next shooting position is more than 1 second away. But as stated, you have to retain the mag unless you're at slide lock.
  3. Maybe I've misunderstood, but the root cause for the Surefire failures was due to OAL of ammo. So if you were running factory 55gr, no worries. Once you got into the heavier pills, your OAL increases as does your chance of malfunction. So for an up close hoser match using cheap 55gr ammo the surefire looks to be reliable. But if you were goin to reach out to 200+ yards which is very common for a 3G match, you're going to want a heavier bullet and then failures are induced. Again, that's just what I recall from what I read on AR forums.
  4. And their shouldn't be a timer either because the police aren't going ask what your splits were or how long it took you to incapacitate the threats. It's a game. Can we refrain from trying to compare it to real life? Despite what the founders intent is/was, it's a game with guns, a timer and rules to abide by.
  5. I can relate to not wanting to remove the brake. Let us know how testing with a non-brake upper turns out.
  6. As long as no shots were fired until you got back into cover, no finger.
  7. Sweet spot for what though? Accuracy? Gas to work a brake? Legal barrel length? Balance? Aesthetics for the handguard?
  8. I suppose the only way to really know is to remove the brake while at the range and see for oneself. Care to be the guinea pig and film it wgj3? =)
  9. Care to elaborate on the details of what you are shooting? Equipment and ammo.
  10. Needless gadget or beneficial tool? Looking at JP's website, they offer their 9mm carbine with a brake. Does non-major PF 9mm ammo really produce enough gas to effectively work a rifle brake? Or is the weight of the brake itself doing the work of mitigating muzzle rise?
  11. Mike, Great videos man. Really enjoyed watching them. Not to drift this thread, but in your opinion, does the 9mm carbine really make use of a brake or is it just another gadget to spend money on?
  12. Just hope you never catch the 3 gun fever :0 While it would be fun to buy the gear, I'm not a fan of using scopes or shooting past 100yrds. Thankfully the club I belong to does provide the occasional multi-gun match. Pistol/Carbine matches in shallow bays. I'm definitely a fan of ARs and red dots and I can definitely crank up the speed dial with the pistol when I'm not worried about cover or hitting all zero downs.
  13. I'd like to try USPSA. But too few matches that work with my schedule. Plus if I caught the fever, I don't think I have the time to reload for it!
  14. Congrats! Be sure to let us know when we can expect to see your episodes aired!
  15. I'm in the "Buy once, cry once" camp. Seeing as the JP LMOS has a proven track record, I paid the premium vs. other brands and splurged on the Blackheart Ti firing pin as a precaution. As soon as this crazy Texas weather begins to cooperate again, I may get to test this bad boy out before my next match in January.
  16. I've been a Bayou Bullets 147gr TC fan boy for a few years now. But honestly, the PD 124gr HP were the most accurate bullet I found to work for me. I was going to buy some PD when I happen to take a look at what Rose had in stock. For what Rose was showing for the 147gr JHP, I had to buy some. And after double checking prices between PD and MG, I definitely felt good about the purchase. For what MG charges, they must use actual gold in bullets hand crafted by virgins. But they don't have any problem selling their goods, so they must be doing something right.
  17. Chopping down a barrel is not listed on the "approved" list for mods in ESP. Now if you happen to have the barrel recrowned and it happen to measure 4.1", only an equipment check nazi would notice. If it fits the box, it's a go. Equipment checks would be delayed by hours if they had to check every factory spec and compare it to what you brought.
  18. The only thing I hate about BF is not having enough fun money to waste on more stuff I don't need!
  19. That's 2 people that commented that they use the Blackheart. I'm surprised that the JP one isn't mentioned. Other than the treatment on the Blackheart, are there any differences between the different Ti pins?
  20. Mind me asking what brand Ti pin you went with?
  21. Just picked up the black JP LMOS from shooters connection. Question: is a Ti firing pin a must with a LMOS or is it more for insurance against a slam fire?
