I use 160gr Black Bullets sized to .358 in my 929 - same in my 627. I load 3.0gr ETR7 1.200 OAL w/ range brass (except R-P and Tula) in .035 Revolver Supply blue moon clips. Makes 133 pf consistently. I made a de-mooner out of an old golf club and use a mooner tool from Revolver Supply ( a BMT mooner for my 627 w/ starline short colt brass)

Blazer has worked well for me too. I've had problems with Tula and Remington staying in the moon clips.

I use Starline short colt brass w/ 160gr BBI bullets. Generally, I can reload just as fast with special brass but the real difference for me happens when I really push my weak-hand reload and maybe don't bottom the extractor rod out; the special brass won't quite make it out of the cylinder on the first try and that really screws up the rhythm of the whole process. I have never had that happen with short colt brass. Plus I can shoot the short colt rounds in both my 627 and 929!

There were 13 of us at Area 8 and there was a good group of us at the Tennessee match last year!

I use your stage breakdown strategy on every stage I shoot and it has helped me tremendously. Once I got to the point that I knew that I had a good plan and would stick with it, I started working on transition speed and improving my accuracy. I still have a long way to go, but it seems a lot easier to work on those things if you don't have to worry about running by targets or what your next shooting position should be. In my last match, I shot my 929 using bullets I already had loaded for my 627 - .38 TK .025 moons loaded w/ 160 gr coated .358 BBI's, Federal primers in Starline short colt brass @ 1.200 OAL. Other than my rear sight blade falling out, the gun worked perfectly. I need to chrono the load and see how it compares to my 627, but barring any evidence to the contrary, I am going to keep using them.

Any chance of getting a Sunday slot at this late date? I just found out that I am going to be in the area over the weekend.

My 627 short colt loaded moonclips fit perfectly in my 929 - all I have loaded are .358 .38's though. I'm not feeling that adventurous so I think I might wait and load some .357 9's. Don't know what might happen to the cylinder. Sounds like a great weekend project!

I hit my Operator II's with flat file just enough to take the "spikes" off. It didn't change the looks of them at all and made them much more enjoyable to use.

I fooled around with many different types of grips - tried making my own, but ended up spending the money and getting a set of Trooper Jordan custom stocks made by Herrett's. Best money I ever spent on shooting gear.

If you trigger finger wanders with the stock grips, you might try a some that are fit to you specifically. In the "war" between trigger control and grip strength, I have found if a grip only allows me to pull the trigger using the middle joint of my finger no matter how hard I grip the gun, my trigger pull is consistent. I had a set of Herrett stocks made for my 627 and it made a huge difference in trigger control, recoil management and overall comfort. I know people who will tell you the same thing about their Hogue big butt grips too. Most revolver shooters will let you try out their gun; that way you don't end up with a drawer full of grips you won't ever use!

Make sure the toolhead pins are all the way in too. I have forgotten to replace them after a caliber change and the head wobbled a bit.

Excellent article - while working matches I have seen many people skip step 2 and either fail to engage a target, racking up the mikes and penalties, or be surprised when they see it during their run and then their entire stage plan goes down the toilet. You can't shoot 'em if you don't know where they are!

I use 160 gr BBI w/ short colt brass in my 627. They have an almost pointed round nose and drop right in.

The biggest change for me when I switched to a CZ was the difference in the grip angle and how the gun felt in my hand in general. I never had any reliability problems with either gun that I did not cause myself. The Glock is easier to work on if you are doing modifications yourself, but I feel that the CZ can be tuned to a finer edge. I have never shot a Glock with a trigger as good as my CZ. They may exist but the CZ has a cleaner trigger break by far.

For the new classifiers, it looks like they are using the top finisher in the 2012 or 2013 Nats as the 100% hit factor - the last 3 I have shot worked out that way.

I had a bunch of #68 h&g "left over" from my 1911; alternate semi wads and round nose in the moon clips and they drop right in my 625JM.
