  1. I would go with KKM all day long. Last one I shot out had about 70k rounds thru it.
  2. The lands in the barrel will be barely visible if it's shot out. If you could run your fingers in there it would feel like a shotgun barrel. I usually run 9.5 gr of Major pistol in my reloads but I use a Precision Delta 124 JHP. Not sure if your "mystery powder" may use more of the case than Major Pistol.
  3. Some good suggestions above. I would also check the barrel. Last year I had a barrel with about 70k rounds on it that started opening way up. By 72k rounds I would barley hold 5" at 20 yards. The barrel may be shot out.
  4. My 38 Brazos based gun went to about 70k rounds until it was shooting about a 5” group at 20 yards. Tried to finish the year out before putting a new top end on it and wouldn’t you know it, about 1k rounds more and the slide broke at a National event. I figured 70-75k rounds out of a top end was good since it gets rode hard. 4 port comp, popped holes and all the powder I can fit into a case. As far as the debate on 38 vs. 9, I am partial to 38. I think it’s a more versatile round and a little more margin for safety. As far as picking up brass to save a couple bucks, order more brass. You’ve already spent a wad on the gun.
  5. I think its mainly regional. Here in the southeast, usually every Saturday within a two hour drive you can find a 3 gun match. My home range, The Clinton House, has hosted about 3 or 4 majors the last couple of years. As far as Tripple C goes, the Vortex/Shooters Source match was as good as it gets. Miss those matches.

How about 600 on the 930 JM Pro?

  7. I think a lot of the division numbers are predicated on location and tournament itself. For 3 or 4 majors here in the Carolinas, we have almost as many open shooters, and sometime more, than we do tac ops. At 1 or 2 of the matches we will have 100+ open shooters at a major. We don't have 2 gun divisions at a 3-gun matches here for the most part.
  8. I really don't change my grip for any of my mags, 12-29 rounders are all the same. Hopefully your shooting fast and it will rebalance quickly!
  9. Why not buy a box fed (dissident) and be done with it. I've seen tube fed guns have as many problems as the vepr. The KS-12 entry competition can be had for a little more than a ready to run tube.
  10. I really like this one, its called the Nitro Fin. It is from Shooting Sports Innovation and takes the place of the slide stop. I think its more comfortable than others on the market. Thumbrest - Shooting Sports Innovations
  11. CO is growing in 3 gun. Some majors (in Southeast) there will be a CO division. Don't be afraid to play in open, if you can load the shotgun and shoot long range you will be fine and have a great time. As far as rule set, yes is the answer!
  12. Jeff Abernathy of Tommy Guns USA. He has built several for me and is currently rebuilding my 38 super that I shot the barrel out of. He will build anything you want but he can also give you a preferred parts list of his and build you the most dependable gun you will own. His wait times vary but usually no more than a couple months from my experience in the past. Also, you may even run into some dude named Jarret that I hear smashes a trigger now and then. 13. There is no mechanism, its a little push followed by a pull. I'm not familiar with the Limcat design but if it is modeled after STI, yes.
  14. 240 g FMJ with a large magnum pistol primer
  15. I am running 23 grains of W296 in a 4in. revolver and the brass is as dirty as anything I've ever shot before. Is this usual with 296? They are smudged almost the entire cases. tia
  16. If you run STI basepads, I would highly recommend Shooting Sports Innovations Nitro basepads. No screws, no pins and will come off in about 2 seconds. He has them for STI and SV currently but is working on MBX's. Go to the website and watch the video on how easy to get on/off.
  17. Cuda Lube! Has a very good temp range for year round use. Check out Shooting Sports Innovations
  18. Back from the 2022 American Defense MFG Tarheel Challenge. This needs to be on your list for next year if you like long stages and shooting out to 650+/- yards. Check out some of the videos posted on line for a sample of what it was like. Donnie Flowe of Stage Zero Shooting Supply has taken over the Tarheel name and and put a very unique match on the ground, I heard a few folks say it was a "hard as hell" light. I think there were about 70 targets over 200 yards and most everyone went through more than a flat of shotgun ammo. This type of match is not for everyone but if you want to be challenged, put this on your calendar for 2023.
  19. I usually run AA7 in 38 super and SWMP in 9 major. As luck would have it, my 38 load is 9.8 of AA7 and 124 gr JHP from Precision Delta and 9major is 9.5 of SWMP. 9 is a shorty and 38 is full size. I'm not a huge fan of 9 major even though I do shoot it from time to time, to me 38 super is a much better feel at same power factor but the SWMP is about a close to "good feeling" load as I have shot in 9m.
  20. I shot the inaugural Battle for the South 3 Gun Championship last week. Wow, is all I can say! This is going to be one of the premiere events in the years to come. We shot out of a SWAT van, moving trailer and a 727. I think there were 3 long range stages out to 570 and several more past 400. Go online and look at the videos and pictures. This is will be a "must go" for anyone that can make it to the NC next year.
  21. I have a Vortex 30mm mount for sale if you need one.
  22. For the money 250+/- I really like Ballistic Advantage. If you want to spend more look at Bartlein or JP. Lancer used to put Bartlein's 17" barrels in a lot of their competition guns and most were 1/2"- 5/8" MOA.
  23. Get a gen 2 and try it. They don't require a spacer for 9. For what ever reason I have better luck with MBX for 9 and STI for 38.
