Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Where do you put your off hand on a shotgun with a heavy mag? I found moving my hand back to balance point (front of magwell) reduces the wobble around the bore during fast transitions. However, I'm used to gripping rifles a lot closer to the muzzle. Time wise I can't see much of a difference dry firing, but visually everything seems smoother.
  2. Breakdown for the first local "3gun" match of the year. The same club brought in 38 people for a shotgun only match last year.
  3. There are basically three options for a shotgun, right? 1) M2 + mods for dual/quad loads + 14 rd tube: Extremely reliable, minimal cleaning required, and competitive in all three divisions. 2) Cheaper than M2 tube shotgun of the moment (FN SLP, JM930, Versamax, A5, M3K, JM940, 1301,...): May work depending on your proclivity towards maintenance, the environment, and luck of the draw. 3) Mag fed gun: Spend a little. Spend a lot. Modify it. It is still going to jam.
  4. I stumbled across 2hrs of footage from a soldier of fortune match. First 3 gun stage is as 20:25. Did anyone shoot this? I'm not sure what year. YouTube.
  5. Does anyone know what guns this will fit? https://timneytriggers.com/impact-shotgun-trigger/
  6. It ended up taking a month and a half for me.
  7. I have seen a few threads mention shotgun targets fabricated from pipe. I am assuming these are simple knock down targets? Is there a length to diameter to cut these at that is particularly difficult? I have a few feet of 4" schedule 40 pipe and wondering if shorter (but more stable) or taller (and heavier) will be more challenging.
  8. I decided to look for a new scatter gun after running a 930 and homemade caddies for several years. Both work, but I could never get the quad loading quite right. Two factors drove me to a box feed gun: The cost of an M2 + mods + good caddies for 24 rounds is quite a bit more than a VR80 (especially with the current 4 mag promotion). Using an optic means I can actually zero my slugs. No more horizontal offsets on far targets.
  9. How quick were they on getting back to you about the rebate?
  10. Nordic had a booth at the AR15/rockcastle Pro/am. I bought the Nordic follower there and the Rep installed it. He was real particular about how he bent the end of the spring that goes in the follower, he said that the spring can cause the follower to tilt and hang up. Just another piece of info. David E. Could you describe how it was bent? I have tried a couple different ways and have not been happy. The stock follower works okay, but the Choate one hangs up occasionally.
  11. You’re way off Assuming your POI is 6" high at 30 ft (looking at your target) it would be 3 times that at 30 yds or 18" high. Take that out to 50 yds and it would be more like 26" high at 50yds. SO 6" high at 50yds is a little different that 2 ft. David E. That's about what mine shots, about 12" high at 25 yds and 24" at 50 yds. This year I just aimed at the bottom of the target which was fine until I ran into targets that were not standard silhouettes. I am now in the process of adding a taller front sight (about 0.315") and shortening the rear one it came with (0.062"). The plan is to zero it by moving the rear sight forward and back.
  12. Does the barrel length really matter at all in 3gun, or is it just to keep the magazine extension from looking funny?
  13. Interesting stuff but it is copyrighted ( 2007 by Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.) It probably should not be posted here. Later, Chuck My understanding is that a chapter from a long book generally falls under fair use for educational purposes. This is probably a better solution anyways. See chapter 2 Design of Guns and Ammunition
