  1. Have they posted the stages for the Area 6 Championship match in April? If they have, where are they? I know I need to work on everything, but I would like to know if there is anything in particular that I need to practice. Buddy
  2. I have three 9x23 pistols and have run 9 mm in two of them and really saw no difference in accuracy out to 15 yards. The guns ran flawless and I even shot a steel match with one. I saw no reason to continue and have since loaded 9x23 brass to lower velocities when I want 9 mm power from a 9x23 pistol. I have a few 1911 9 mm pistols also, so I really don't have a need to continue shooting with 9 mm in a 9x23. Buddy
  3. " Hell, I can chew on the other side. Problem is, it leaves the tooth behind it unsupported which means that eventually I'll need a bridge or an implant. Just can't seem to get ahead of the curve lately." Chew soft foods and wash it down with beer!
  4. The only problem with the prescription lens against the "scope" is that you would have to be the exact distance from the lens each time. That is one of the measurements that they take when measuring you for glasses. I would imagine that a 1/4" or more variation from the lens would be a problem. Shooting off of a bench with a regular scope might work, but I doubt if shooting fast (design of the red dot scopes) would work. Buddy
  5. Most shooters have a limited amount of vacation to use in a given calender year. Most will have used their vacation by the end of the year and don't want to burn the new calender year vacation in January. And as joseywales showed us...the Summer time is when you will get more participants. I'm retired and live in Louisiana, therefore, it would not be a problem for me to shoot the match and I would. I just think that for the match to be a success some consideration should be given for the majority of of shooters that have jobs and other responsibilities. Buddy
  6. I used a 240 for bowling pins...good dose of WW231. Not stout enough for Bear so bowling pins are the only thing it is good for. Buddy
  7. Last week I bought a Ghost holster for my STI and it is a much smaller rectangle than you have pictured. Seem to work just fine. Buddy
  8. I didn't realize the HP-38 and WW 231 were the same, I have both. Anyway, I have been a fan of WW 231 for many years and reading out of the Winchester pamphlet, 4.5 grains of 231 will give you 1060 fps with a fmj 124 grain bullet, 131 pf. Buddy
  9. Everything he said, with the exception of powder charge. Mine is 4.4 grs. Wilson used VV 310/200 gr. LSWC to test my pistol. The group was either.63 or .68 inch at 15 yards off their bench. It has proven to be very accurate for me, too. Buddy
  10. The bags I buy are either 25 or 50 pounds and the corn cob media is very fine. Your brass doesn't have to be anything other than clean, but I like mine to shine. Buddy
  11. I have carried my PM9 everyday for three years. I started without a holster and then bought one from Dillon. I used it a while and I don't really care for it, so I'm back to the pocket carry. Buddy
  12. "NO he doesn't owe me money!!!!!" You sure? I can't think of any other reason to look for Gorden! Buddy
  13. I live out in the country and things are a bit different from the city. The Post office people actually know you out here. One was walking up to my door recently and I started talking to him and he put his finger up to his lips (like to make me talk soft) and told me not to wake Lizzie. Lizzie is my dog. Thanks for the heads-up anyway. Buddy
  14. BTW, I'd be curious what your STI and Les Baer slides weigh with the sights, firing pin and extractor installed. If you have the chance to post the weight I'd appreciate it as a comparison. Thanks, Chris I don't have a scale to weigh it, but will try to get by the Post Office and get the weights for you. Buddy
  15. You are welcome KZ. You didn't realize it, but that was a trick so I could beat you! Anytime you need another gun for a match.....just give me a call. I love to help! Buddy
  16. I'm no gunsmith, but I cannot see where the heavy slide would make your pistol bump fire. I shoot a 6" light slide STI as stated above and I have a Les Baer 6" forty-five, too. Neither bump fires and the Baer is bone stock other than the 1.5" accuracy job from the factory. Trigger pull on the Baer is about 3.5 pounds and the STI is about 2.5 pounds. If slide weight had anything to do with the bump fire, don't you think the Baer would act like your pistol, too? My thoughts would be a sear or spring problem. Buddy
  17. I'm with Howard on this one. I have three Baers and one Wilson. All are fine pistols that shoot extremely well and are 100% reliable. Baer is the best bang for the buck. Buddy
  18. I voted "0", but Alex Hamilton and Dave Anderson seem to give you some pretty straight talk as does Patrick Sweeney. However, they (Anderson & Hamilton) rarely test firearms for an article. Dave Anderson usually writes about "better shooting issues" or competition. Alex Hamilton tells us a bit about gunsmithing and gizmo's for gunsmiths. He does sometimes point you toward a particular distributor. Now Sweeney, seems to write pretty good articles and uses a Ransom Rest to test for accuracy, when possible. For some reason I'm pretty comfortable with his articles. As a matter of fact, I enjoy them. Now for the rest of the writers, have you ever noticed that all of them can shoot tiny groups off-hand at 25 yards rapid fire? How cool is that? Do they ever get a lemon, a really bad firearm? Probably not, I would imagine that the guns they get are well screened before leaving the factory or gunsmith. Buddy
  19. Yes, plenty of ways to deal with it and the straps are one of them. Maybe not the one that your looking for, but never the less one way. Just a suggestion, don't get your color coordinated panties in a wad. Buddy
  20. I had a 6" top-end built for my Edge. I used the Bull Barrel and kept the long dust cover. Mine was lighted, too, it weighs one ounce more than the 5" gun. I am pleased with the way it shoots and tracks. The only thing I don't like is when I use minor loads for steel. It seems a bit sluggish, I would rather a little snap. Overall it is great. Buddy
  21. Ever try wrist straps? I use to be into serious lifting and the wrist straps help with dead lifts and heavy rowing and such, probably would work for you pull-ups. Buddy
  22. I have found that a small binder clip (spring steel paper clip from office depot) works fine. It seems that the problem arises when the primer cup moves during loading. I just push the primer cup all the way on and put the binder clip on the side and it holds it in place. Almost "O" primers get out of the cup. I also use the small binder clip on the end of the "primer ramp". That is where the primer wheel dumps the unused primers. I had a problem with them coming down the chute and hitting the floor. I put the binder clip on the end and folded the arms out of the way and it was ready to go. Ten cent fix. Buddy
