  1. This thread just made my day! Every time I walk into a gun shop my girlfriend just rolls her eyes and tells me to mind my business when my ears perk up to the nonsense some of the employees say/do. Most recently I walked into an Academy because they were running a special on Remington Golden Bullets, which they keep locked behind the counter , so I'm waiting my turn to speak with the sales associate as he is already occupied with an elderly couple looking for a home defense pistol. The transaction goes something like this. Elderly Man: Let me see that 1911 right there. *Sales associate hands him a Springfield GI and the man immediately hands it to his wife Man: Try that one out. *Woman tries to rack the slide grabbing the very bottom of the grip and almost flips it out of her hand. It won't budge so she drops it on the glass Woman: The damn think is a piece of junk, it won't open. Saleman: Try it this way, you have to push both hands together like your crushing a can! *Salesman picks up the 1911 and proceeds to rack it sideways and pull the trigger while pointing it directly into his forearm, 3 times! Me: My girlfriend: Mind your business! *We leave immediately CM
  2. SJC is pretty awful to be around, not so bad for the shooter from my experience. CM
  3. If I was making this decision I would see what my current barrel can really do. Find someone in your area, I'm sure someone on Enos will be close, with a stable bench and high quality piece of glass and see if your barrel is capable of making those kinds of shots. If it is capable you'll know buying a different barrel won't magically fix your long range woes and you can start looking at the other pieces of the puzzle: glass, ammo, the shooter, etc... That said, if the JP barrel kit is new or like new with the matched bolt I'd buy it in a heart beat. CM
  4. I don't know how feasible this idea would be because I have never seen one of these, but you would think someone would create some sort of pin stop to make setup easier between shooters. CM
  5. What # recoil spring are you running with it? CM
  6. Welcome to the boards from Round Rock, kjolly. Where are you shooting at? CM
  7. 9 before the start signal, unlimited after. If guys running extra long tubes take over you can adjust stages to create a more equal playing field but skill trumps capacity alone. CM
  8. Here's one. I like the 21", even with a longer tube. I have a +5 and +7 tube for my 21" M2 and if you're going by "looks", I'd say a 21" looks better with a longer tube than a 24" with a shorter tube...but who cares? I'll post some pictures of my 21" with both tubes next time I get out to the range. CM
  9. Blowing smoke. I doubt a bench rest held PT92 would hold 3 inch groups at 100. CM
  10. Came back to vote for the Dawson's. Love the "can't get the stock ones off" option. CM
  11. Seems like Liam has been cashing in on his success in action movies since Taken and Batman. The Grey and the Titan movies were pretty poor and now he has Battleship coming out, which also promises to be a flop. CM
  12. Finger tight with a hex wrench should be enough. CM
  13. Shoot the 20" and wear a glove so you don't burn your hand. Are you shooting at BOTW this weekend? CM
  14. Shootersconnection has them in-stock also, if anyone else is still looking for some. CM
  15. So passionate about the Dawson basepads I felt the need to say it twice!
  16. Dawson gets my money. Easy on, easy off, priced right, and they sponsor the forums. CM
  17. Mine worked right off the bat also. I haven't bothered trying to turn it down because my adjustment screw is only three turns out so I won't be able to turn it down very much anyway. CM
  18. The stands are $8.99 a piece, I believe. I hammered mine into the berms at BOTW (Texas Multigun location) and didn't have any issues with them all day. You'll have to speak with Tim about using pistol on them, he had a few different types of steel and I lucked into some that he said would handle 9mm well. The longest shots I took all day were with pistol but the steel didn't have any dents at the end of the session. I'm confident with proper care and making sure to turn the steel that it'll will handle thousands of rounds of 9mm. CM
  19. I have an AA I use with my Gen 4 Glock 34 that I have more than 3,000 rounds through that has been flawless with Remington Golden Bullet 36gr. I tried some more expensive 40 gr. stuff but it would constantly jam so I stick with Remington's and it works fantastically. I bought it expecting it to be much less accurate than it is. My only complaint is the ten round mags go faster than you'd expect. CM
  20. I can vouch for how amazing TRUBL's steel is. I took mine out today for the first time and pounded on four 8" plates with 600 rounds of bird, over 500 .22 lr, and snuck in 200 rounds of 9mm without having to put up a single new target all day! Probably saved myself well over an hour and the steel is still in perfect shape. All for $100 shipped. CM
  21. I'll give it a try when I go to the range next weekend. That looks like a real tough and fun challenge. I was out there today doing something kind of similar but I began with two loaded: shoot one, load four, shoot four, and repeat the load/shoot four six times. Ran out of ammo waaaay too quickly! CM
  22. Do you have some pictures? I'm having a heck of a time figuring out the "easier and faster" side of load-two. CM
  23. Try double plugging and bench shooting together. I can't tell you exactly why but until I removed all other possible distractions and really worked on learning my trigger I never felt completely confident in my trigger control and having to focus on too many things seemed to make me flinch more than anything. Using a bench to learn my sights and trigger is the biggest thing I've ever done to improve my pistol shooting. CM
  24. Does anyone know where I can buy a box of B&P to try out? Or even have a few you'd be willing to sell? CM
  25. Very cool looking black rifle! How are the Scorpion Tactical receivers? I almost got some from Mooney's a while back but went with another name. CM
