I have been shooting competitively only for a few months now, but the more I read, the more I realize the need to improve my speed and my control (and accuracy). Part of that process, I understand, is learning to call your shots. But, before I can do that, I have to get over my flinching problem.
Last weekend, I went out to the range to shoot and shoot and shoot in an effort to self-diagnose as much as possible. Although I can, like most others, shoot pretty accurately when going slowly, I cannot seem to keep my eyes open when doing slow fire. I double plugged, hoping it would cure the flinch, but I still have it.
When I dry fire, I have no problems. And, oddly, when I unload a string in fast fire, I can keep both eyes open the entire time. I am usually going faster than my ability to watch the sights, so I am not exactly calling my shots. But, I am not flinching, either.
Any thoughts or tips?
