  1. +4 on the match. I shot with Vic and it was fun watching him do his thing. We had a good squad I enjoyed shooting with you guys. Congrats again Vic on the win. Nelson and your staff did a great job, Thank you. The lunch was also outstanding thanks to all who put it on. My .02, I also would of like to see the top Open and Limited shooters get a gun from the prize table, they did win the match. I did not think it was right that Vic and Dan went to the prize table by luck of the draw.
  2. I can relate after shooting a San Diego match towards the end of last year mine was never returned either. Some things just make ya wonder.... I have a spare but I'd vote for the new Pocket Pro II. About the worst thing I've read about this timer is it can he slippery to hold on to. Couple strips of skateboard tape fixes that.
  3. I live in Glendora. NE Los Angeles County. Being that close to San Fernando you've got to try the Regional Match next Saturday. Then there's the IRC late June. http://www.icore.org/ http://www.icore.org/match.html
  4. IDPA BADLY needs to require shooters compete in their highest level of classification, with possibly an exemption for revolver. That would stop Master Class SSP shooters from competing in ESP Sharpshooter. Why would revolvers be an exception? All competition should be at your highest ability.
  5. Actually I welcome a warning such as Finger, Muzzle etc. IDPA tends to issue warnings before penalties or DQ. IPSC not so, seems to be more harsh. IMO when an RO/SO is on top of things they can issue warnings perhaps preventing a DQ.
  6. I'm not exactly an expert but heres my take on it. 1. Your shell plate is adjusted too high if brass is catching on it. Make the necessary adjustment to lower the plate. Mine is at the same level. 2. The case feeder shell plate should be smooth like your 45ACP. It obviously got damaged. You might try stoning the gouge out to make it smoother. 3. Also sounds like you have a shell plate out of spec. Hard to believe given how thick they are. Why don't you take apart the shell plate clean and adjust to see if it solves your problems. Again I think you have to smooth up the case feeder shel plate for it to work reliably. 5. I'm sure Dillon will help you out. It still doesn't sound like you have the cam adjusted correctly. Mine pushes the case all the way to the back of the shell plate on the press. I just spent a couple hours reloading on my second 550 w/o the case feeder then 30 minutes on the primary 550 w/ case feeder. WOW what a difference. Once you get it running right you will love it.
  7. I have mixed emotions over this one. Generally I agree with most here that say the muzzle stays down range below the top of the berm. Problem with that is zero people do it so I guess it's going to be a short match and easy to score all with DQ's. I also agree as an SO I like to see the gun all the time. Now enter the mixed emotions, try reloading under the berm with a revolver! I've seen the two schools or reloading with the wheelie, flip the gun reload using strong hand or reload with weak hand but both suggest flipping the gun 180* verticle to extract the empties. Now that's way over the berm! BTW I've never seen anyone extract empties keeping the gun horzontal or close to it. I also know the rule the gun is presumed loaded all the time until the clear command is given, hence the safety rules posted above. So we have a delima here. Guess common sense rules in this situation.
  8. Given the run times for most per stage on an IDPA classifier this is not pratical for a local match and not realistic in a sanctioned match. It will cause HUGE botlenecks for the stage in any match. I would not want to be on one of the squads told "you have a 1.5 hour wait to shoot your next stage" regardless of the match level. I allways shoot an IDPA match with the attitude, at least in my mind Based on my last IDPA match an 1.5 hour delay would be welcome. Try on a 2.5 AND a 3 hour delay and having to finish the next morning, Ugh. Sandbaggn will never be regulated out. It's in IPSC as well.

    Glock Holsters

Jeremiah would a pancake holster work for the car? Perhaps a cross draw? Goofy is as goofy does for CCW laws at least you have one. Most of CA takes an act of God to get a license. My concern would be going back to concealment after getting out of the car. Someone watching you holster back up could claim they saw you branish your pistol in the parking lot creating a other issues to deall with. I'd hate to have to put on an IWB holster from a seated position in my car!
  10. I have to disagree with you here. It depends on the calibers you are swapping. If you are not needing to change primer systems the 650 XL is a beeze to swap out. 9mm, 38 super, 40 S&W all use the same case feeder setup. You only need to swap tool heads, but thats simple. Unless you are switching from rifle to pistol and back again, you are only really needing to change out the feeder tube parts and maybe the case feeder plate. Most everything else you are going to have to change even if you don't have a case feeder. I stand corrected. You said what better I meant.
  11. Ahhhh the ole case feeder decission. I think Dillon should offer a case feeder for the Sq Deal becauase it auto indexes! If your buying new and starting from scratch the 650 is the way to go. If you need to do alot of caliber changing get a second press like a 550 or keep the Sq Deal, because anything with a case feeder on it will be a pain to change. The more I use the 550 case feeder the more I like it. It really is pretty trick.
  12. This is still a challenge I haven't tackled yet. Well lets just say I still count on luck. Basically I've tried to trap it close to the bottom of the arc but sometimes I find myself tracking it. My last swinger challenge went down in flames. Why did I track it right up to the no shoot for a double tap, at 20 yards no less? I too need to build a swinger to get good at this and it's on the short list of To Do's. EricW I'd like to see those pics.
  13. Rather than starting or conducting a class think about a mentoring program. The advantage of a new shooters class is it might bring out those that would otherwise just watch from a distance. Mentoring allows the mentor to stick by the new shooter for a few matches sorta breaking the ice. Then introduce them to this board as there is a wealth of info here. I agree with the others that say do what you can to grow the sport and help those who are looking for help.
  14. Updated edits in red Below are some initial comments after setting up and loading about 200 rounds. Both pro and con. The unit is well made, that's to be expected it's a Dillon! When I first looked at the written instructions my first thought was "now what did I get into". I then said this can't be that hard and dove in. It goes together pretty easily. Everything fit perfect fo me. It is very trick not to reach for cases, just pull the handle index the plate and grab a bullet. It is also pretty quiet when running as well. I still think some kind of hinged lid would be beneficial. It would keep potential debris from getting in the casefeeder and make it even quieter. Overall it's a pretty good piece of gear to have. After using it for awhile I'll post what it does for speeding up the reloading which after all is the primary reason for getting it. Never having a case feeder before I have now learned the value of inspecting cases before dumping them into the feeder. I found 3 split cases during the powder filling stage. So much for once fired brass. LOL. Pros Easy assembly Faster reloading Quiet operation Quality equipment Cons Using an EGW undersizing die (I shoot a Glock) for 40S&W sometimes the case doesn't line up perfectly to enter the die, now there is a lot less room to manually push the case into alignment. Net effect it slows down the operation. Still happens but not very often. I also get some bounce back from the case not staying in the shell plate thereby not allowing for correct primer alignment. It's not often but when it happens it brings everything to a halt. I'm guessing the unit need a tweak adjustment somewhere to end this. I'll have to call Dillon for some of that service and support! Slight adjustment & it's fixed. It's very difficult to clear debris from the unit, ie corn cob, broken primer etc. There just isn't that much room to get it cleared out. Compressed air works fine. On assembly you have to use a tool head and powder die to check the alignment. I was very happy to have extras. It would be disappointing to disassemble a set of dies that were already dialed in. Last downside is it's not easy or quick to change the 550 back to a manual machine. Mine will be set up for just 40S&W w/ the feeder. I'll use the second 550 to do different calibers. Hope these initial comments help. More to follow as I get more time with it.... Learned another hard lesson. After getting the case feeder working properly I loaded 300 rounds. Never thought to double check the OAL since I left the tool head and dies alone but guess what? Yep I was into the new ammo by stage 3 and I got 6 of 15 targets engaged when the gun wouldn't go into battery. Rounds were too long! Lesson learned..... measure the OAL AGAIN! Overall I'm very happy with the case feeder.
  15. BTW the reason I had to sand alittle off the grip was to give the magazine base more room to seat, otherwise I had to hit the magazine so hard to seat it it sometimes bruised the heel of my hand. The magwell always fit the grip. I have heard of others having the same problem with the magwell popping off the front of the grip. Eventually they used hotmelt glue to attach it and a Sharpie to color match it. No more problems. Everything in action shooting needs tweaking hear and there. Measure twice cut once! Good luck
  16. I pretty much agree with the support your local range, but the prices have to be reasonable. I have purchased online and through my local range without disappointment. In fact my local range just got more of my money the other night! The savings Jonser5000 is getting is pretty hard to turn down. And I must commend the FFL who is charging $55 for the transfer and DROS in CA that's just too good to be true.
  17. I'm not familiar with the ICE but I did have to sand about 1/8" to properly fit the Novak Stainless Steel magwell. I installed the plug then dragged the grip across sand paper mantaining the correct angle. Cleaned up the threads and installed the magwell. If the plug is expanding the magwell so magazines don't fit I'd suggest reducing the diameter of the plug first then reinstall so the magazines will fit. If you sand or file the grip pay attention to the angle of the grip.

    G35 or G22?

The simple answer is BOTH! One can never have enough guns.

    G35 or G22?

so-so Welcome to the forum. I'd vote for the G35 also. Works for both IDPA and IPSC. It was built for competition. Nothing wrong with a G22 however. Guess the bottom line is go rent both at a local range and see what you prefer. Just realize you may not leave it in it's stock configuration very long. There are several posts here discussing all the modifincations you can do to enhance it's performance.
  20. Yep broke a G22 striker the same way. I hear it's rare but now I carry a spare.
  21. xuxupecheur Check out his thread http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31229 Doing your own trigger job is only slightly more difficult than doing the lightbulb thing. As suggested get the Jerry's video it's done very well.

  23. kevin c I think you got it, but I don't want to steal Jakes thunder. It's kinda like some guys shift their weight back or even take a step back to move forward real fast. Just expieriment what works fastest for you. For it to be quicker it has to be automatic, as in a conditioned response. There's no time to think it through other than learning it of course.
  24. Jake, interesting stuff. I never really thought about the imaginary lines from my feet to the targets. I'm working on improving transitions and movement in practice sessions right now.

    Glock Holsters

Would that be the Apache Ankle holster (elastic leg band)?
