  1. Okay guys I'm gettinig into 9MM Major and really appreciate the education here. I'm leaning towards 124gr HP bullets and HS6 powder. My question is has anyone used Universal Clays to make major in 9MM? On thte burn charts it's very close but slightly faster than HS6. I use Universal Clays in Limited for .40S&W and just thinking staying with one powder might be nice. Is it worth expiermenting with 115gr bullets? One of the charts in this thread has data for both bullet weights. Rumor has it 115gr is harder on the gun, fact or fiction? Again thanks guys for the info here it saved me tons of time.
  2. Ahhhh my hero. I can only dream. I live on 8000 sq feet! What's an acre?
  3. Search here for C-More batteries... there are cheaper options than spending $5/ea on them... !! Go to Batteries Plus and buy size 357 at half the price (it will take 2). It so happens that I use the same batteries for my B/P monitor & Blood Sugar. If you tell them they are for medical use you get them for half off. Manny Appreciate the lead but what category are they listed ubder?
  4. Sounds like a pretty good timmer even with the limited field reviews so far. My only concern is over the internal battery thing. Just how expensive is it to get replaced? I think AA's would have been a bettere choice.
  5. Never used the product before but did a google search for you. Is there anything special about these? I've only ised Dillons electronic earmuffs. I prefer earplugs most of the time. http://www.gundogsonline.com/shop-by-price...ing-clays-.html $199 free shipping http://www.websoft-solutions.net/product_p...ssporclydm1.htm $215 + shipping http://ccwsupply.biz/ProEarsSportingClaysPAGE.htm $198.50 + shipping (stock other models in their line as well) http://shootersconnection.com/store/index.php?cPath=76 $179 (I've used SC before very good company to deal with)
  6. Shoot the Open and get classified. My guess is it's too big a rush to get a load worked up and feel comfortable with the equipment but If it were me I'd try like hell to get the 4 classifiers in Open. I'd like to get your feedback on the Pro SC shorty. I think my next one will be a Brazos.
  7. Don't count on it. Just like the revo guys don't sweat the reloads. While I shoot SS and revo I'll be in Limited this year.
  8. What hasn't been said about "Jerry's" shooting and yes he was unreal on Standards shooting something like a 5. What really needs mentioning is who unreal Robbie shot and in Limited at that. I had always heard he was very accomplished with the wheelie I only regret not being able to see him shoot.
  9. So where's that IRC 1911? A Glock? At least John is stay'n true to his roots if those are in fact moon clip holders out front!
  10. http://www.kytac.com/page2.html The IDPA version works for both.
  11. My oldest Glock has about 10K rounds thru it w/o any problems, it's a G35. All my other Glocks are pretty much new. Bottom line is parts wear out. It's an easy fix.
  12. OK, here's a realy dumb question: Shouldn't the one with the firing pin on the hammer be able to give a lighter trigger job because it has less moving parts - no transfer bar etc. Or is the newer design just better? Not a dumb Q at all. I think it's all about mass. Unless your looking for a full on Randy Lee custom bobed hammer all you need to do is polish internals and change a couple springs. I have a 25-2 hammer mounted pin and a couple 625's with frame pins both cleaned up nicely. I do have a preference for the old quality but the current generation wheelies are fine.
  13. You are on the right track. If using the CR Speed get the short block holster for the 5" 625 that way you don't have to modify anything to get it to fit. Many use the Blade Tech style holsters as well it's really personal preference. You'll need 6-9 moon clip holders and a good belt. Almost everyone uses the CR Speed belt. Moon clips are a personal preference thing also. Try TK Customs, Brownells or Ranch Products. Give the RIMZ clips a try and see how you like them. Do a search here and you'll find plenty of info. I use RIMZ 25 clips in my 625 guns and really like them. Advantage is no tools are necessary. You need to champher the cylinder holes and have a trigger job done which will bring it from 12lbs to about 6-7lbs pretty easily. Full on custom trigger jobs are down to 3lbs. You should stick with federal primers if you reload. At 6-7lb trigger will still light off winchester primers but they aren't as soft as federals. Sights are a personal preference also mine are a gold bead up front and a white outline rear. Go have some fun and practice reloading with dummy ammo in dry fire sessions.
  14. A shooter form Vegas on my squad at the IRC used a 629 he had cut for moon clips. Worked out pretty well for him. Not exactly sure of his load something along the lines of a Russian something load. Basically he said the gun fit him best over all others he tested so he had the cylinder modified. As for shooting without moon clips it can be done but the brass won't extract.
  15. Okay guys where are the results for the 06 IRC?
  16. What are talking about here Your rod....
  17. I think this is common. Several Glock shooters I shoot with have all had this happen. Mine has some pretty deep score marks. Haven't had any malfunctions due to it however. Not sure if sanding out the marks is a good idea due to changing the diameter and structural strength. I'm just monitering the situation and replace if it gets worse. I'm not convienced the steel guide rod feels much different and may try it.
  18. Dunno but I had a chance to shoot the baby GAP Glock, very nice. Still 10 rounds of .40S&W in the G27 to go along with the G23, the 45 GAP never had a chance. It's basically a G27 in a different caliber. IMO the whole reason the GAP was developed was to put a .45 caliber round on the small frame.
  19. I felt the same way initially but a SD gun doesn't necessarily have anything to do with a competion gun. Having both is really the way to go. They are both the same platform and handle with a similar feel. The G27 is a sweetheart to carry and it shoots really well. I actually scored better with the G27 on qualification, maybe because it's shorter sight radius made me focus more on the sights. While the G23 is pretty easy to carry the G27 goes there and in places a G23 can't. Both are nice. Had I purchased the G27 first I may not have purchased the G23. Bottom line is you can never have enough weapons so get both. Heck one will be FREE this is a no brainer. I'll say it again if it's strictly a CCW gun for it's primary purpose and one is the limit go the G27 route.....you'll never look back.
  20. I lost track but +6 on the G27, although ctgun has a good point about the G23 being similar to your G19. Only problemo is the 14 rounds....oh yea that's a CA issue, I use both the G23 and G27. the G27 is very unique and can be carried so may ways. If I were limited to just one for CCW it would be the G27.
  21. Point well taken and it's a good one Doc. Semper Fi
  22. Okay Trey read this http://www.alpharubicon.com/mrpoyz/glock/ then polish and shoot, It will get smoother the more you shoot it and nothing says you can't go back in and repolish later. BTW I vote for Flitz non abrasive and doesn't remove metal oh yea use a dremel tool or something similar because doing it by hand doesn't cut it. Have fun!
  23. Joe D I'm with you on this one. Man if you can't beat retail on 40S&W by reloading then you're paying too much for components and I shoot FMJ bullets. For the record I don't factor time into reloading because it's too big a variable. My savings is more than half retail and for that savings I'll reload 40's. Not to mention I enjoy reloading (most of the time) and you can customize your ammo. Well that's my story and I'm stick'n to it.
  24. +1 on fomeister...polish and shoot (in that order) .
  25. I'll wholeheartedly agree. Very classy move. +3 on Randy. I've only talked with him by phone but sounds like his reputation. It was an awesome thing to do. Randy I'm available for adoption, LOL! I had a goot time shooting with the Apex guys. They too did you proud Randy! I still think the top 3 in each division should go by order of finish. 1st Open, 1st Ltd, 2nd Open, 2nd Ltd etc. After that go with the random draw.
