  1. The USPSA and SCSA are doing a great job with promoting the Steel Challenge this year. Looks like they have sent press releases to local papers informing them of shooters in their area that will be attending the World Shoot. This year I have been contated by two local papers - one respected paper and one rag. Both want to write a story about the upcoming match. I know it would be great for the shooting sports and I would love to help promote - but I have my reservations. Two years ago the rag paper wrote a brief article about the match and mention my name, city and when I'd be away at the competiton. I was uncomfortable about this.. I live in a very congested city where crime is widespread in parts - am I being paranoid that I don't want my neighbors to know my shooting business and don't want the gang bangers and crack heads (assuming they can read) to know that I have guns? What do you think? Thanks.
  2. I thought the Area 7 match was run really well. Weather was great, scores were posted in a quick manner and I really liked the stages. Thanks Pathfinder! Paul
  3. I use a Culligan Reverse Osmosis System. I'm pleased with the taste/results. It is pretty scary when you change filters - they get masty looking. Here's a link. http://culliganwater.com/residential/drinking_water_systems.php
  4. Lugnut - Congrats on your ESP win in NH and ESP Master!
  5. I shot 125jhps going around 1000fps = 125pf. Everything I hit went down.
  6. Fun match... Despite the high heat it was nice having ample shade, cold water and even fans on a couple stages. Well done Phil and the crew from USSA! I'm already looking forward to next years match. It would be great if this style match would catch on so more clubs would run them.
  7. Go to "Members" from the "Main menu" and add a couple off names, then you can try to "Add participants" to the match again. Let me know if you don't get it to work. It work!
  8. Kupsi, Looks like this app will work well. Question. Under Tools "Calculate hitfactor & A time" Say you hit the "C" button too many times for example you hit "5" and wanted "4" do you need to X the whole string or can you correct/change individual boxes? Also - I was trying to do a sample test - I can't seem to add "Participants" is there a trick? Thanks! Paul
  9. Cool - I'll download and check it out today. BTW - I have an HTC Incredible.. Also - Any thoughts about making a simple app for scoring Steel Challenge? Thanks. Paul

OK - So it's been a couple + years since the USPSA took over the Steel Challenge. I was in the process of looking over the match application for the Steel Challenge World Shoot in Piru. I see now that "SCSA membership is required to shoot the match" Just curious if anyone knows how many USPSA members are also SCSA members. Do you think requiring a competitor to be a member will hurt the match attendance?
  11. Mike, I try not to bitch about stage design at local matches - I'm just happy that folks like you are there to set-up. This does bring up some good questions.. If a stage designer intentionally builds a stage so that only some of the shooters can see targets from some a certain spot - as stated I feel that that is a bad stage design. If a stage is built and different shooters see different vantage points - I think that's great - that's what free style is all about. BTW - I felt the stages that JT built at A5 were great and did not give an advantage to any shooter based on height or weight.
  12. Mike - Not sure about stage two (was that actually stage 3 at the match?) - I could not see every target from one box during the walk thru -and did not know that it was possible until right now. I guess if I was a few inches taller I would have seen that option So to answer your question - if you built that stage to test tall people I feel that was a bad design too. I did move between boxes and I recall I think I won that stage. I don't recall stage three - must be getting old..
  13. I shot this stage and felt it was a bad stage design and that the stage designer and other people at his height and taller had an advantage to the stage. I'm not sure if this was "legal" or not - I just felt the stage designer built it to his (and taller people's) advantage. To build a stage with "The idea was to tempt tall shooter to make a risky shot" is again IMHO is a bad stage design. I also agree with Benny and mentioned something similiar at the match "Everyone can go down but shorter people,me, cannot go up..." Paul
  14. I think the Mini is a great little car. We bought one new in 2006 and have had zero problems.
  15. Wow. Looks like it was a fun match - great pics.
  16. If you don't have access to an end mill - what about a vise and a belt sander. Or rough cut it and then cleanup with a file?
  17. Jeff, Not sure what happened with that club in NH (was that Pelham?)they stopped before I started shooting USPSA. If your interested in shooting again - there are plenty of matches in New England. There's around 10 active USPSA clubs in the Northeast Section http://www.uspsa-ne.org/matches.asp?year=2010. and there's at least one match every weekend sometimes two.. Harvard has a practice every Wednesday http://www.harvardactionshooters.com/ Welcome back...
  18. Lots of movie memories - good and bad. Here's a classic line from Blue Velvet: (Note - Link contains fowl languauge...)
  19. Bummer Gary - sorry to hear.. Cherish the good memories.
  20. Looks like it premieres June 6. Trailer link http://pilgrimfilms.tv/shows/top-shot/
  21. That is very cool. But I think I would have moved the key board...
  22. Walls of Steel is a great match - very similar to the "PSA Shootout". The folks at Wallum Lake run a solid match. I think you can shoot up to 4 pistols (Open Auto, Limited, Open Revo, Iron Revo) + they usually have a shotgun side match. Unfortunately for me this looks to be the same weekend as the Steel Challenge...hmmm what to do? If you have the time to shoot this match - you should.
  23. I put some pictures in the gallery section http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=105384&pid=1198829&st=0entry1198829
