+1 - It was awesome. I live close to an active square (a couple bars and restaurants) not too far from Boston. Right after the game and for about an hour all you could hear were fans yelling, screaming in joy and car horns blasting - unlike in Vancouver people went out in the streets to celebrate.
  4. Did you see this? Leaked trailer. http://www.boston.com/ae/specials/culturedesk/2011/05/leaked_trailer_of_girl_with_th.html?p1=Upbox_links
  5. Congrats on making CDP Master!
  6. Tim - thanks for posting results. BJ - Nice shooting! Looks like a lot of folks shot in the "Rimfire Rifle" division.
  7. I'm on my second Kamado style smoker - after 8 years of New England winters the first one cracked - I replaced that one with a GreenEgg which is now stored indoors for winter. The GreenEgg does not get used too much since I bought the German Grill http://www.germangrill.com/ If your a fan of charcoal grilling this is a great unit - a little pricey but nice quality.
  8. If you want to look at the option of a used 45acp open top end let me know I have one collecting dust.
  9. I hate Thieves too. I feel your pain - it's happened too often to me as well. On Friday someone stole our Construction sign from the front lawn at a job site - while we we working! Our guess is they wanted the scrape metal - all three pounds of it.. Tom - I hope they get caught..

  12. Here's some pictures from the 2011 PSA Shootout. No time to tweak - so these are pretty much as shot.
  13. ...I missed the fact that there would be a 7th stage as did almost everyone in the squad and the flyer only listed 6 stages. As a result, most people barely had enough ammo to finish and may not have had enough if they had to reshoot a stage. Even now, the web site still says 6 stages as did the score sheets. Everyone in my squad was surprised to find that the rules had been changed this year to limit the time to 90 seconds rather than shooting till you are out of ammo. I can understand why this was done but it was not in the rules and not mentioned in the briefing. It was only found out when one shooter reached the time limit and was stopped. Graham, That info was posted in the News Flash on the PSA website..
  14. Blind bat, There are a couple templates on the SCSA web site: http://steelchallenge.com/scsa-clubs/ Look under club resources.. Here's a modified generic SC score sheet - I have that in excel if you want to modify. Steel Challenge score sheet..pdf
  15. From the new 2011 SCSA Rule book (March 2011): 5.2.3 In the Rimfi re Match, there will be an aiming point (fl ag or sign) centered downrange directly in front of each shooters box approximately 10’ away and 2’ high. One aiming point will be required for each shooting box used. The competitor while waiting for the start signal, must be pointing/aiming their gun at the fl ag/sign with the fi nger outside the trigger guard.

  21. Thought I'd pass this on: http://steelchallenge.posterous.com/steel-challenge-moves-to-florida-in-2012 SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — The Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) the national governing body for the sport of Speed Shooting and organizer of the Steel Challenge, announced that 2011 will be the final year that the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships will be held in California. Citing the increasingly unfriendly political climate of the Golden State, officials announced that beginning in 2012 the Steel Challenge will be held in Frostproof, Florida, at the Universal Shooting Academy "The decision to move was not made lightly and for the last year we have been in discussions with ranges across the country in search of a new home for the association’s premier match," explained Dave Thomas, executive director of SCSA. In addition to California’s political climate which has often restricted the growth of the match due to the prohibition in the state of certain types of firearms, the need to expand the sport of speed shooting on the East Coast was also a key factor in the move. "We have been working in the last couple years to expand the Steel Challenge format, particularly through the formation of the Scholastic Steel Challenge,” said Scott Moore, director or the Scholastic Steel Challenge. “With such a strong base of practical shooters in the southeast region of the country, the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit headquartered in Ft. Benning, Georgia, and the obvious differences in political views you find in the south, the move to Florida in 2012 puts SCSA in a great position to grow over the next couple years." Response to the move among sponsors, who were informed earlier last week, has been extremely positive according to Thomas and Moore who noted that industry support for the Steel Challenge has always been strong. They pointed to the growing list of industry partners for the Scholastic Steel Challenge as evidence of the sport’s long term potential to draw new shooters and the value the program has among manufacturers. While 2012 marks the end of the World Speed Shooting Championships in California, SCSA plans future major matches in the state and is working with Steel Challenge co-founder Mike Dalton to schedule a sanctioned regional championship at the Piru, California, range facility which will host its final world championship shoot this August. "We recognized all along the importance California plays in Steel Challenge competition and are pleased that the tradition of ringing steel in the canyons of Piru will continue as part of the future regional championship series," said Thomas. 22. There are a couple smiths here in MA - feel free to PM me if you want their info. I'd suggest doing a search here (BE) and shipping your pistol to a highly recommended smith that will do the work your looking for. For new pistols and rebarrels I've been happy with both Kevin Toothman (USSA) and Derek Janowicz (Millennium Custom). Good Luck.
