So I bought a few used 45acp STI mags that I was told was used in an STI Edge. The mags are in good shape with no visible defects. My understanding is that STI and SV are interchangable. Well, I tried the STI mags in my 45acp SV infinity (w/interchangable breach face) pistol and they do not seem to fit. I pulled the slide back and they will go into the frame and do catch on the mag catch - problem is they sit too high and you can't rack the slide closed. I tried fitting the STI mags in my SV 38super gun with Caspian topend and they seemd to fit fine. I did have access to an SV mag so I put them side by side to compare. The mag release holes seem to be at same location from top of each mag down. However, the top portion of the mag (where follower sits) above the tappered area is longer on the STI mag. A friend thought these might be STI mags for the Para? - What do you think? Thanks! PMD

I have a Colt 20" preban 9mm upper that I'd like to put a comp on. I a perfect world I'd be able to use the existing threads on this preban 9mm barrel (but I could re-thread if needed). What type of comp do or would you use? Does the JP work well with 9mm? Many Thanks. PMD

Brian, Thanks for the notice on this new machine. Any additional info on how this works? Do you know how flexible this unit is - will it works with differing bullet dia? .355, .356, .357 etc. Is this battery operated or plug in? Do you know what the selling price be to the end user - retail or ??? Do they need a test user - I'd be happy to try one out and post my findings . Thanks. Paul

Pete, Congrats on your newly aquired wheelgun! Shred is correct - S&W did make two different calibers for 627. Manufacturing of the 38super 8shot was discontinued a couple years back and the run was limited - I think just a few hundred (this might be an incorrect #). Used 627's in 38super do show up occasionally on the used market - ironically I bought one in 38super just yesterday. In addition to case differences the bullet diameter is different too. The bullet dia. for the 38super is .356 and is .357 for the 38/357. Let me know if you want to see the 38super and I'll bring it by MRA - or you could check out John's 627 he usually has two on steel night. Take care and good luck. Paul

Well I spent a bit of time reading thru some of the previous posts pertaining to this problem. Here's what I've done so far: First I ordered an ACTIVATOR free from Remington see Shred's post at http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...d,ring,and,1187 Second I sprayed TSI301 on the bolt and associated areas. Third I opend the gas ports to about 0.140 Yesterday I went to the range and did a function test. I tried both: Remington 2 3/4dram, 1 1/8oz, 7 1/2 shot and Federal Multi Purpose Shotshell 3 dram eq, 1 1/8oz, 7 1/2 shot Both ammo functioned the gun flawlessly in a rapid fire. I'll be going back to test fire again to be sure it was not just a fluke. I have two 26" barrels so I will try the Remington ACTIVATOR using the barrel that hos no modifications to the gas ports and will report my findings later. PMD

I am sure this has been covered before - but here we go. I have a newly aquired Remington 11-87 that I bought used - The gun is very clean and looks like it was only shot a few times. Today I went to the range to function test. Federal 00 buck worked great. I then tried a couple other loads that would not cycle the gun: Remington 2 3/4dram, 1 1/8oz, 7 1/2 shot Federal Multi Purpose Shotshell 3 dram eq, 1 1/8oz, 7 1/2 shot Winchester AA (3dram?,9shot I believe left box at range?) The barrel I used was a 26" "Target" barrel. I checked the gas system and it was clean and dry, both holes in the barrel were clean and open. Anyways what works in your 11-87? Anything I should be checking for in/on my 11-87. Thanks in advance for your help and experiences... Paul

Well I came accross an 11-87 is excellent condition with some extras (xtra barrel, syn stock, bag of stuff....) at a very fair price. Sounds like I'll have to try some different loads to see what works/functions the best. Here's a new question - The shotgun came with two barrels a ribbed 26" and a ribbed 30" that has been back bored (?) and ported. Is the 30" barrel too long for shooting pins and plates? Or should I send the 26" barrel out to get it ported... Thanks in advance! PMD

Looks like I caught the shotgun bug. Shot my first 3 gun match yesterday and have decided I'd like to build/buy a shotgun for three gun shoots and Bowling pin shoots. I am a firm believer in getting quality and I do like "bells and whistles". What Remington platform is better? 1100 or 1187 - I have been told that the 1187 has a better gas system?? I'd like to build/buy a 12gauge shotgun right the first time. I'd like to have a proper recoil butt pad, ext. tube, and would also like it to be ported (magna ported...?). So since I am a "neophyte" in the shotgun world - what do you recommend I look for or build? Many Thanks! PMD
