  1. Seriously, if that high hit factor is right, then no one will ever shoot this classifier. I shot this twice this weekend, because the first time I had an extra shot extra hit on the 50yard set. However my first go at it was better then I expected so I figured I'd pay for a second run. My second was the better one, and with a mike from string 2 I came with 1.966HF. The wonderful calculator these guys above provide (really, thanx guys) doesnt have enough data for production, but at best this might break 30%, but I did better then I expected, and I'm a B shooter. Looking at the classifiers of other shooters for this match, I say the numbers on this one are wacky. World class Open GMs going full blast only managed to come up with 88%.
  2. Ok, I've re-chronoed the Wolf 62gr ammo through my 16" gun. The average was 160pf with the slowest shot at 157pf. 30 shots spread themselves between 157-162. This results are with my chrono in 75 degree weather, close to sea level. So I guess it makes minor just fine with a decent margin. My guess is that if it made 165-170 it would be even better. On a side note, I can report that wolf ammo doesnt tumble when it hits a target, or at least not very fast. I know this because I put 2 holes in my chrono housing. They are just flesh wounds and the chrono works fine.
  3. Ok now I have to go re-chrono stuff. For some reason my brain thought that the power factor was 160 and the Wolf was 2 over that. Now I'm no longer sure if Wolf made 162, or it made 152. Grrr.. Will report back I guess.
  4. The polycoated ammo with the 62gr bullet make 162PF in my 16" gun. So it guess it makes Minor .. with my chrono, but I wouldnt want to bet an entry fee on it. Maybe with the newer loadings the margin will climb into the comfort zone.
  5. Hmm .. A camera that mounts on the light rails every gun seems to have now. .... And then you can have the camera feed into you shooting glasses with a crosshair .. We are gonna need a new division. My budy and I hand hold the a small digital camcorder for each other. The angle is generally whatever gives you most info for that stage layout.
  6. Recently I noticed that I'm slow to start moving on stages that start standing relaxed. What I'm refering to are stages where you dont start shooting from the start position, but have to move in some direction for a few yards or more before starting to shoot. I can move fairly fast out of shooting positions because my legs already have some built in spring from being bent at the knees, but starting from standing is painfully slow, at least if I try to stand natural. There is relaxed and then there is relaxed, and clearly there is tention in various body parts, but I cant seem to find a way to build initial momentum. Watching myself on tape, it seems that I try to lean forward to get my body moving before stepping forward and it feels and looks slow. A budy suggested loading a lot of my body weight in one heel and pushing off against it but that feel very unatural to me and its hard to get right. I've also experimented with just taking the time lower myself after the beep and to build up some spring in my legs that way, before I even start to move. Any suggestions, idea, secrets?
  7. A lot of people seem to like a paracord wrap around the tube. It gives nice traction, doesnt feel like foam, looks cool, and plus you like you know .. have some paracord around just in case you need to tie up a Metric target as part of the course description.
  8. Despite warnings about the end of the world, I have zero problems with nickle brass which is all I use for 9mm.
  9. The simple answer is that if you are comforable handling your gun, you understand the basic safety rules, and know how to clear a jam without hurting yourself and those around you, then you can start shooting competition. In my opinion there is no better way to find out what your weaknesses are and what you need to work on. Go ahead and try it. Go slow, be safe and have fun. I dont think anyone started by being a GM. Well, maybe Brian and TGO, but it is possible they arent from Earth
  10. Mostly the good car ones are $800+. What do you want it for, detail navigation or not getting lost in the wild? The the navigation part get ready to pay for a pricey unit and software. If all you want is to know which way to a major road the $200 or less ones do it just fine. I have an Etrex Legend which has a decent base map and to which I can download local maps. Buy no means a navigation type GPS. However I could plug into a laptop and with the correct software have a full navigation system. If you haul a laptop around anyway, that might a cheaper option.
  11. Well it is a nice idea, but do something no one wants admit to is that the math doesnt work for 2 reasons. First given current rapeseed or soy crop yield vs the amount of biodiesel per pound of raw veggies, we dont have anywhere near enough land to grow it all. Secondly, growing high yield crops uses artificial plant food which uses oil. You are going to need more oil to raise and transport the plants then you get out it. In a lab, it all works great, at market scale there are some problems.
  12. http://www.changingworldtech.com/ Multiple plants currently running. Yes it does make light crude (or better) out of chicken bits. Yes, it operates profitably (specially now). Yes you can throw any oragnic crap at it, and I mean crap as in sweage, and it will mail light curde and a couple of of other usefull bits. However, while it seems like a great way to make MORE oil and to recycle agricultural waste, it can not be a replacement. We would have to cover the world in chickens or whatever else to make enough oil. REALLY cool technology, but its output is limited as well.

Nope, its ok in IPSC last I checked. After the manufacturers "explained" the action it is now ok for IPSC. Unless it isn't this week.
  14. Actually it is Tyc's gun, just not at the WS. Here is the original thread and note that in the third post the original poster mentions that he took the picture of Tyc's gun at a czech match.
  15. So how can you tell if you have one hit or two? If they are close enough there will be some area of paint missing and I dont think an overlay is gonna cut it.
  16. Those grips look like no CZ grips, even though one model had some thumb rests built into them, they were smaller and on both sides. Note that the other side doesnt have them. Also looking at the Bali picture there seems to be a thumb rest too.
  17. Well ... the rest of the world calls those prototypes or experimental guns, not so much production models. Just because Dodge made 10 cycles with V10 Viper engines, it doesnt mean that it is a "production" bike.
  18. Well at least the LDA is listed on a web page somewhere as a manufactured product. Show me a link to cz-85 II.
  19. Should be no problem for the stats guys: just pull out the equipment sheets, checked (gun make + model, may be Serial Nr., at least competitors travelling from abroad passing border police or customs should not have "twins" with them) on every single stage including chrono and initial equipment check and thats it. Even I would notice the difference between a cz85 and sp01. At least I learned for further matches: serious equipment checks, not just sign it, especially for the super suads! kraut <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I belive some of the competitors already stated that not equipment sheets where do be seen.
  20. Really I meant heat death of the Universe .. which really is all about cooling. But you know I was under the sun for way to long this weekend so back off you and your voice of reason
  21. No offence, but did you come up with a fuel and did the goons come after you? There are solutions, but their deployment is costlier then oil. Lets say you can make cars that run on hydrogen and that you have a foolproof technology to distribute it. You need to convince countless gas station owners to buy in and put up their cash to retool, when there are only 5 cars on the road. Its a chicken and egg problem. Given the current price of oil, its just not worth it. Sooner or later we'll get there. Its still cheap to burn gas, or otherwise you would have bought a different car.
  22. hmm .. So dont buy it. Or buy a car that uses less gas. Sorry guys, keep the governemnt out of it. The feds are NEVER the answer. I like big cars as much as the next guy, but if you buy a vehicle that drinks a gallon every 8 miles, then the smallest price change hits you hard. If you drive car that gets 40mpg then the change means almost nothing. For example it would take $5/gallon before I really notice. I note that most of you are calling for the government to do something (remember when they did something about booze, guns, etc?) but not many are consider changing their lifestyle.
