  1. I was intrigued by this so I just measured about 15-20 bullets. All of mine were between 2.235 and 2.240 and that might have also been me not measuring them EXACTLY the same. Their profile is a bit odd, so make sure you measured them exactly at the same point.
  2. Why would anyone get DQ'd for pulling the trigger purposely as long as the gun is pointed in a safe direction no matter if it on an empty chamber of if you're burning a round? Well earlier in the thread some folks alluded to the USPSA finger on the trigger when reloading/loading. My point is that in this case how would you even tell the difference between pulling the trigger to fire on a "duh" empty chamber, or pulling the trigger to load one on the carrier. I'm fully on the "you can DQ for this" camp.
  3. BTW, I'm not sure you can REALLY DQ someone for pulling the trigger to load their gun. I know there have been a few times where I picked up a gun, forgot the chamber was empty, aimed at a target and pressed the trigger. Click or shuck follows. Oops .... was I being forgetful or was I loading a gun? In some cases that is obvious, in others I'm not sure.
  4. I would definitely take an Burris XTR, MTAC, Viper PST, TR24, etc instead of a EOtech setup. I would have money for the mount and with some of them money left for a case of ammo. Excels at 3gun? Well thats more on the shooter, but I do think they are better then a eotech plus multiplier combo. If you never shoot past 100yards, I don't know why you even need the magnifier.
  5. Everything is bad for you and eventually we all die.
  6. Kurt should write a book, "Tales of Redneck Tinkering and Ballistic Rumpus".
  7. Well I suppose one could say that the hammer reset and the trigger reset are two different things. The bolt may reset the hammer but you could have like 40lb springs or something pushing the trigger forward for a faster reset. Theoretically.
  8. I bought their 1000 pack (1250) and loaded some 100 or so of them. They shoot ok, just know they are really long for 55gr. I'm tempted to get some more and use them for short range ammo.
  9. To a point, because that chunk of metal still needs to go back and forth and mass is mass.
  10. I replaced my ACE with a MAGS EFX-A1 after I played with the one that comes on Stag's 3gun rifle and I really like it. It is far heavier, not PRS heavy buy heavier then A2. If you want a lighter versions, lancer makes CF version of it. That said, last I checked the internet people like Jerry Miculek were still using an ACE stock so really, how terribad can it really be?
  11. On the other hand I know people who broke the LUTH stocks. They are not that tough of a stock.
  12. I really have to wonder of shotgun companies all decide to put the serial number near the loading port when they have all the space in the world to move it around.
  13. Ok lets pose that question differently ... Is the factory opening on the "serial number" side any deeper then what can be done with the ones without the moved serial number?
  14. Pro's are that they are light, very strong, will take lots of abuse, and look kinda cool. Con's is that depending on your shooting stance you might want a bit more cheek support/angle/spacing. The rubber butt pad in A2 and A2+ lengths its very grabby and it will drag your clothes around, and the A1 length configuration with just metal may or may not be unpleasant to you. With a heavier barrel, the balance might be a bit too forward. I've been using one for years, but I've recently changed it out and moved it from my competition gun to my zombie apocalypse gun. The lack of cheek spacing is less important with a red dot then a scope and it balances better there.
  15. Looks neat, but I really wish gun companies would release gear when they are actually ready to ship it, not months before. As interesting as it is, it basically fell of my list when I heard Q2. I'll either get one from MOA or get something else before then.
  16. I suspect we are getting to a very cool place where there are 5 or so different triggers that are great in different ways for different people. This is a good thing, competition in the market place is a nice thing. I like JP just fine, but for a while thats all that everyone used.
  17. To my mind messing with the barrel is the last thing you do. Put on a carbon fiber handguard, a lighter stock, etc, but either change the barrel completely or leave it alone.
  18. Yeah yeah that's pretty and everything but dude .. I keep throwing my credit card at the screen and the M3K 3-Gun isn't coming out of the CD slot. Do you have any info on when they would be available?
  19. Well that is certainly a matter of opinion My point was that if he does like it for close range blasting, he can use for everything, it is not hard to use at longer ranges it is just different.
  20. The SD 3g is not all that hard to use at all ranges. Its not as if it fights your or anything, you just need to get used to its feel. No biggie.
  21. So I guess I'll update my barrel woes as well. My barrel went back to Nordic, apparently they had a batch which had the throat cut short and mine was one of them. They've re-cut it, mounted in on of their uppers and sent me back a target with 10rd group under 1" with 68gr Hornady's I've rebuilt it on my upper and it still sucked. At this point I had tried 3 upper, and pretty much every variation of stuff on it. Except the scope mount, a Larue SPR-E. Replaced that with an Aero extended (most extended?) and hit upon the right-ish load with 68gr Hornady and now it is sub moa.
  22. Thats pretty awesome. Are they going to actually be available and when should we expect them on the market?
  23. I have 45 brass with the head stamp worn off. I have some 9 brass that is getting there as well. I shoot it until it splits but mostly I lose it before that happens.
  24. Can someone tell me why a machined tube of aluminum costs that much? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for people making a living and selling things at what the market can bear, I just don't understand the price point. I'm assuming you couldn't make these for $100 or else you would own the market forever selling them for $150, specially if they are a wear item that people would replace every 10-15k, but I just don't understand how they get to be over $300.
