  1. If everything sticks then its the load, regardless of how well it works in auto's. I expiremented with a couple different powders and many brass types. An otherwise good clays load for example would sort of stick sometimes, enough for me to give up give that titegroup just works fine. My experience is this thing is very ammo picky but once you find a few that work, they work just fine.
  2. That's what I took from it as well. Starline, imi, all manner of brass that is not fed/speer/win/rem/blazer at times seem to press very hard into blast shield and drag to point that the trigger almost won't move.
  3. 6.1 to 1.120 to be precise. I don't have an PP, will be trying 320 and 3n38 as substitutes unless I can find some PP locally. edit...and that is 24 shots into a 1" group with a single flyer at 1.5. insane. Power Pistol burns closer to N340 or Accurate #5 than the two you mentioned. D&L in RI has had PP in stock last few times I was there. Thanks. I'm going to troll a couple local shops and see what is around. Where is D&L? its a haul, I'm on the other side of CT.
  4. I'm working on this load for just 6 particular shots at two distances on a well defined course of fire, the distances being 50 and 25 yards and the target being a 4" circle. A little extra muzzle bounce is probably not particularly a big problem as having a group that will hold say 2" at 50 yards.

  6. Best to run a Plunk Test, yourself, on your gun (and mag). That does seem a little long. What gun are you using? 929 revolver. I ended up loading them, it just seemed wrong but now that I made some there is quite a bit of bullet in the case. Its the same length listed for 115 XTP's, those will definitely not have much bullet in the case. I'm going to go shorter on those, and lighter on the charge.
  7. I'm experimenting with several different bullet types and vv n320 and 3n37 at the moment. Using the published VV data at this URL... http://www.lapua.com/en/products/reloading/vihtavuori-reloading-data/relodata/6/34 They use a COL of 1.142 for every load I see and with the hornady 147 XTP they seem like they are super long, ie very little ends up in the case. Anyone have any experience with these?
  8. 124g extreme RN bullet 8.3 of 3n38 1.185 OAL This makes 173 pf in mine. this almost fills the case, is definitely compressed, and in general is a pain in the ass, but I have a decent amount of it on hand.

  10. I have the egw. All I can say is that with a little spritz of one shot lube, they go through the press like knife through warm butter and I have zero case gauger fails with all manner of range brass. I either read here or somewhere that the egw is cut slightly different to allow the sizing ring to run down the entire case length. 10/10, it is easily the best reloading tool I have ever bought.
  11. This is the right answer. The Russians, I think zatsorksy, wrote about this in some of his literature. If they wanted better Olympic lifters, volleyball was good.... It's better for you to do something more different than something more similar, lots of stuff about your nervous system being able to incorporate the sport specific stuff better...
  12. I only very recently started shooting an open auto, just at practice, i have never shot it in a match. You just made me realize something i couldn't really reconcile when I was shooting the gun, like the more deliberate I was being, the more the gun/dot was moving, but when I went faster it seemed more calm(if not insanely loud...) interesting observation!
  13. I don't think there is a typical anymore. Nate said at awards he would not make a decision about whether he would host again in fallon until january at the earliest so I would not expect to know anything for awhile...
  14. I had a 9mm barrel fitted to my gun. Its just a trubor t2 comp in 9mm barrel. Right now, I have only fiddled with 3n37 and 3n38 with 124's. Loading with 3n38 is a little tedious, need to go just a touch slower, getting 8.3 into the case they are quite nearly full to brim, but they do shoot just fine. What is the hs6 recipe with 115's exactly? I want to try...
  15. This past IRC I think was 35 pieces with a 30 sec par time. Almost of if was very close and very easy, daring you to go to fast which is pretty much exactly what everyone did. At morro, the par steel was...if I recall were 3 different colors, white/red/blue for a total of 14 plates(6/5/4) then 3 total 4" plates at 20 yards that were worth 2 seconds each. Total par time 20 sec with mandatory reload between colors. There are alot of ways to slice par steel.
  16. A decent number of people, and 1 really really good one, are using 135's. The gun is so heavy I personally don't know that it objectively matters, its all what feel you like more than anything. I am using 160's out of habit and what I had more than any other factor.
  17. Not that much softer, but they fall into the cylinder better. Making minor with the 929 is a bit of a pain - my ammo runs about 100+ FPS slower in my 929 than in any of my 5" autos. The 100 fps thing is irritating...
  18. i never gave this much thought other than assuming logistics of fresh was to overwhelming but I would GLADLY play another 6 bucks on the entry fee if I got 6 new targets for standards....
  19. blessed with enough disposable income to afford it, but it would not break my heart even a little to not spend real money and 5 full days to shoot the match. It is what it is, I pulled an entry for next year off the prize table, so chances are I'll be there again where ever it lands. Ontelaunee PA could do it....
  20. Missed connecticut(me) Is there a way you can also show counts from each? Ooops. Sorry 'bout that. Make that 22 states - including Connecticut! I reckon I could count how many from each state. But will take a while as I was simply going down the list. Or perhaps copy/paste into an excel file and then sort. spreadsheets... 67 california 27 nevada 15 arizona 7 australia 5 washington all else are less than 4.
  21. my press seems to be effected by this when the air temp is lower and it is maddening having a 10-20 our of hundred primers falling on the bench. Mine has the rubber tube thingy. I have done several full teardown cleanings of the press in two years and most times that little piece of rubber had dissappeared but it did not seem to effect function. If there is a brass or bronze part I can get from dillon to fix this?

  23. On examples I have seen, it will not be anywhere near that aggressive, but that is just anecdotal. I suggest you send him the pic and tell him what you want.
  24. http://www.yelp.com/biz/panaderia-azteca-bakery-fallon, best mexican. We ate there twice, it looked like nothing on the outside but had excellent mexican food. #itsnotafluke found it and he was right. http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-courtyard-cafe-and-bakery-fallon?utm_campaign=www_business_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) Best breakfast, that was found asking a local at the mexican place where the best breakfast in town was. No match is perfect, there are gripes about every major I have ever gone too. I thought the Fallon crew did an excellent job and I would go back if they host it again.
