  1. Thanks for the numerous responses... I don't mind paying for quality, but I am having trouble finding sites that sell these (Brian: hint-hint ). Shred: SKB? Custom Glock Racing: Nice cases, know a retailer? How big do most people go for? Just enough to fit the guns (in the foam), or do pack other things in this?
  2. I want to get a new case for my pistols, now that I can easily lock for transporting to the ranges and back - since I don't have a trunk, but I also want it to be built to meet the airlines (NATO?) specs for checked weapons. The only one I've seen so far are Pelicans - any other suggestions? I'd like it to carry minimum 2 and perhaps 3 pistols. Thanks, Dave
  3. SiG Lady - was this in a published account? In Oregon? I'd like to read it.... never heard any thing like it..
  4. The 40 is a Beretta Vertec - dropped in a 11# spring, and went with Unique for 4.7 - with a MG 180gr (with my memory don't quote me on that) - I think the PF is right around 145 - shoots nice
  5. Blazers for $4. Cool! Where? Although I reload my 9MM, for this price I'd get some to try and use when I just don't feel like loading.
  6. Any rule of thumb for FPS with a 4" vs. a 5"?
  7. I think the gear guestions are more important to us rookies We don't want to look too foolish (fat chance), but get decent enough equipment to last a season or two. I've only been shooting this sport since April, had I known about this forum earlier, it would have saved me a lot of money. But Shooting is like any other hobby/sport (golf?) - we all tend to get swept up in the spending...
  8. Duane, I know this has been beat to death - but is there a big difference in lead vs Jacketed? Would you shoot a 200gr jacketed as well?
  9. Click on the Link Eric put in or: http://www.howardproducts.com/dlrloctr.asp
  10. Erik, Flex - thanks... I think this was just frustration over yesterdays match - blame the equipment - I'll keep the Uncle Mike's and move when it might actually help - and spend my money on ammo and more practice.
  11. Editted - I misread the powder, got Unique and TG mixed.... I'm an idiot! Sorry...
  12. Thanks Erik.. I didn't realize they all fit that same... with that in mind there's tons of information out there. I saw Brians post about the 010, no word on the Safariland or Holsters.com, or Brians site yet... thanks again...
  13. I tried the search, using 1911, Limited, Holster - but I couldn't figure out how to put multiple search criteria in... I'm sure this has been covered, just can't find it. I want to move to a 'race' type holster for a Kimber single stack 5" barrel, and I'd like some recommedations.. Thanks, Dave Although after today's match - maybe I should rethink , and spend the money on lessons
  14. Thanks Vince... here's even narrower, if you don't mind.... My 92FS comes with plastic grips, the 92FS Inox comes with Rubber grips These guns are identical except one has the Stainless frame.. Thanks again, Dave
  15. Rufus... did you try those ISMI instructions first, or just snip it on Benny's recommendation? And, how many shok-bufs?...
  16. I finally got some ISMI springs, and some Wilson Shok-Bufs. (Kimber - Custom Target II) I bought a 12.5 and 14 to try out - starting with the 14#... I was following the directions on the spring, took out the quide rod, slid the slide back, marked it. Put it together and slid it back, saw it was .2 or so over, so I cut of 2 coils.. and it went back to the same spot.. So, I'm assuming the rod and shok-buf by themselves took up that much space and the spring was fine... toss it or try it?
  17. I grew up in Chatsworth (North-West San Fernando Valley), every few years, a big fire would whip through (especially in the old days when cedar shake roofs were the norm) - afterwards you looked over the devestated areas and just saw chimneys... very erry. And classes would be 1/3 empty.. But even the worst (1972?) weren't as bad as this one.
  18. I got this from the Beretta forum: Is this true? I would think: no. Otherwise I could replace any parts I wanted to. Thanks
  19. I don't have the problem yet with the 40, but as I shoot more of it and less with the 45 andor 9mm, I'll probably encounter it. Just tryng to setup for the best spec'd ammo I can. I thought the big problem here was the Glock ammo, and the Dillon die didn't really do a factory resize? Mine touches the shell place, can't be any tighter than that can it? (famous last words)
  20. Erik - think your that fast in both - I think the 10/5 match shows that - I only finished 40+ places down from you
  21. I'm a little late on this sorry: I have a few questions: You're replacing the Dillon Crimp Die with the Lee? I though I read in a nother thread, that people were using the EGW Lee die, on the last stage [on a 550] after the crimp, and this was supposed to fix the Glock bulge for one thing. Other s were running everything through the EGW first , before running through the normal loading process. And the case gauges: Flex mentioned problems with the Dillon? Too loose tolerances? Thanks, Dave
  22. In the Sierra manual, 3.8gr gives ~1000fps, 4.3 ~ 1050 - so maybe split the difference, say 1025 fps... ~ 117PF doen't make minor - you need to go to at least (with your lowest shot) 1,086 to hit 125PF, and I think most people with 9mm, shoot for a PF of 130-135 to be on the safe side- if you don't make 125 you'd be DQ'd. I think Erik nailed it, just sounds too light.
  23. Any idea what the fps was on that? Did you chrono it?
  24. [Edit] 12/2 I deleted my remarks, I think the other posters were correct. The phones were a problem for Cheryl. Since then, I've ordered and got fast reponses. Thanks to everyone for recommending her. [/]
