  1. Ha! not even close... The Class 'A' stuff... Buckles, US, Branch (Medical), rank (for the raincoat - enlisted of course) That you do until you find out that varnish lasts much longer
  2. They're probably just very cautious - it could be people used to soak it in there (like I did with my military insignias ), and your concentrations aren't high enough
  3. Like Sierra says (in Edition V, page 124): "do not use Brasso or any other type of brass cleaning solutions that contain ammonia. Strong concentrations of ammonia will chemically attack the case and weaken it, leading to a potential dangerous situation".
  4. You can pick up a "free" sample from the web site for $5, if you don't like it you still get a nice sized bottle of F-10. A local store sells the samples for $1 - I tried it, Hoppes #9 Copper solvent worked as well or better for me..
  5. I went fishing again yesterday, nice drift through Redding, fly fishing for Rainbows that come up to feast on the salmon eggs... I was once again struck by the amount of litter and crap people throw into the river And the people that fish from shore, if they caried it in, carry it out! Would it really kill anyone? This is even worse, when you get away from the towns into pristine areas and find a beer bottle! These people probablyl went there to enjoy the scenary, and they're leaving crap! "relaxe deep breath, close eyes, you're on a river..."
  6. I especially hate those smokers who do use thier ashtrays in thier cars then empty them at the first convient place they find - our parking garage has dozens of these little piles Sometimes, I'll see them throw thier butts down 2 feet from a ashcan.. I've asked a few "I guess your mother's coming by later to pick that up?"
  7. Walnut - no - ConCob - yes I tried Walnut with the polish, looked dull... it was right after I bought the Dillon tumbler and polish, Dillon said, use the fine Corn Cob for polishing, Walnut was too coarse. And try SiG Lady's advice - try 40 each - I'm probably over tumbling at 1.5 - 2 hours, or using the corn cob too long. Now that I have found it so cheap, I won't be so stingy
  8. Echoing what was said --- I think CornCob is better for polishing - I usually do 45 minutes walnut - 1.5 - 2 hours - corncob with polish - looks factory new. At PetCo by me - for Walnut - look for Lizard Litter Better yet - at feed stores - they sell Walnut for .50 a pound, for one pound, and it keeps getting cheaper after that CornCob - same thing - but my feed store corn cob is too course - the finer stuff is sold as 'kitty liter' I am not making this up -
  9. Being new, I'm still doing low 'D' work None of the clubs I go to, have classifiers for practice, at least when I've been there. Some Bill drills sometimes - I'd really like to have a place to proactice these regularly - now I just use the local matches for practice Odd, when I shoot trap, I do better in matches than practice, and I know others (most) that do the same
  10. I load my own, but it seems I'm in the minority at matches, for those with 9mm it seems there's quite a bit of the 100 round bulk packs. Have you tried running 10 through a chrono?
  11. We'll forgive you... it makes it faster for us on the real side to get to the mountains faster It really comes down (in the Bay area) to if you like cities or space, and of course about 500K different in house prices
  12. 300Lb... I'm conviced only about 5% of the people in California are from California... the rest are the nut jobs that give us this reputation Look at the recall election, how many of those people were born here? 2? (That's my story and I'm sticking to it)
  13. I think most put it at Bakersfield, but if you're from Tehama or Siskiyou (or as they say (Jefferson State), they draw the line at Redding, but Central Valley, divide it and put SF/Berkeley as part of LA East of Sierras (along 395), draw it at the Sierras
  14. Thanks Steve... I was hoping you'd see that "Beretta" in the topic What casues the feed problems? I think you should an Elite II in 9mm, do you have a 96 that gave you the same problems? And also, do you use Shok-Bufs in your Berettas? I saw that Brownells sells them. Thanks, Dave
  15. For my Beretta 96, I made some softer loads (pf145-pf150), I was wondering if anyonme shoots anything this light, and how light a spring to use. I found one reference (quoted below), but I didn't know what Power Factor this was for. I just want to get close.. I think I have a 14 in there now, but I have all of them from 10-15 available. Steve Anderson: Thansk, Dave
  16. [Off Topic] Pete... is there a link to guns valid for Mass (just want to compare to ours) Thanks, Dave
  17. I think the 4 should be a $? And he forgot shift... we all do it... still $20K would be a lot..
  18. I've ordered a few things from them that Brian didn't have... very fast service/delivery. Never tried to call them. I aggree, I think they are SafariLands retail outlet.. Ordering through Brian gets me around the Sales tax for California
  19. Vince, this is IPSC only right? No changes to USPSA Production? Appendix E, Production "Slip on grip sock and/or skatebaord tape is allowed" I'm taking this to mean, those Hogue Rubber slip on grips are ok right? Thanks, Dave
  20. Can I ask, generally what people use in the < 60F on stock .45s (Kimber in my case), and when they change to the heavier? I bought the #1, and #3, I've only been using the #3 so far, since it's been 90F+. Thanks, Dave
  21. Ok, it's getting cold down here too (16F yesterday in Truckee), but I hate the time change more. The range is open for Action Pistol on Thursday after 4, doen't give us much time for practice, it gets dark too fast! Look on the bright side, the cold and rain bring the Steelhead!
  22. Is this only a controversial topic for Limited/Open? I can't see why it would matter to Limited-10 and Production. If they make 125PF (which seems a little low already), and in the last two classes have the same number of rounds... I can see if you could load up .17 Hornady to 125, that a 140 or 170 magazine could hold a ridiculous number of rounds.. I shoot 9mm in production (although moving to .40), and 45 in Limited-10. Whenever I shoot the 9mm, people kind of snub thier noses at it (not the Produciton guys), but so what? On the other side, I'd hate to see people load up 25 Auto's hot enough to make minor, people could really try to push some of these toys (no bias on my part though ) to some dangerous preasures
  23. Hopefully... how little!
  24. This is cool - I like there's a 'I Hate', and 'I Like' the same day on the same subject. Everyone's got an opinion and no-ones wrong
