  1. My wife has expressed interst in shooting my Versa Max after seeing how soft it shoots. Unfortunately she needs a 12 inch LOP, maybe shorter, to shoulder it if she uses a shoulder pad. She's only 5'4" and petite. I've had no luck finding anything short enough and I'm not sure how to shorten a factory stock. I may buy a replacment stock and experiment. Anyone have any info?
  2. This tube. From Nordic's site. Nordic Components Winchester 120 / 1200 / 1300 Magazine Extensions Part Number: NC-MXT-WIN-120-12 Inventory Status: In Stock I had an issue with the radius of the barrel clamp being to small. I called Nordic, the said send it in, the either opened mine up or sent me one with the correct fit in 4 days. Numrich has alot of 1200/1300 parts but no receivers or barrels. or ejector springs, that being the entire reason I bought the 1200, just for the ejector spring.
  3. Thanks mulrick, I have both a Versa Max and a 1300 Defender. My 1200 looks exactly like that too. I picked up it at a pawn shop for $120.(long story) My 1300 isn't as smooth simply because it hasn't been shot much. This 1200 is old and looks like its been used quite a bit and it's slick. I found a 26 inch vent rib barrel to replace the 28 inch and decided to shoot in a match or two with it. I also put a Nordic 10+1 tube on it and barrel clamp. My thought is to smooth out all the sharp edges in the loading port area both to save my hands and keep it from grabbing and shaving shells. I plan to go slow. I know I can't open it up like my Versa Max but I want round out smooth everthing I can. The plastic piece it the mag tube can be replaced if I over do it with the massage. It seems to be most of the trouble, it's very sharp. Have you done anything to the load port or the action?
  4. Something I learned this past weekend... Guys will use #6 loads to hit spinners. Turkey loads, plenty of punch and one shot will get the spinner moving with authority. This match, nothing larger than #7 1/2 shot allowed. So, the smarter gamers used some high brass Rem Long Range 2 3/4 " #7 1/2 shot and one shot was all it took. My little Fed bulk pack #7 1/2 took several shots to get them moving. Just one more item to add to the flexiblity of the shotgun.
  5. Does anyone know what the difference is between the Versa Max Synth bolt and the Tactical bolt? Numrich lists Bolt Assembly, Tactical for $174.35 and the Bolt Assembly for $223.60. I know all the internals of the Synth model are TriNyte coated which is electroless nickle.
  6. Yes, it is identical. No pics, I can post some tomorrow. Have you done anything in particular to the 1300 to get it race ready? This 1200 is slick, I just have to get my rhythm cycling it and remember to reload before I'm completely empty. If the action is out of battery just a hair the shell catch jams the incoming shell. With a round chambered the action can't move rearward until the trigger is pulled. Uncocked the slightest little bump and the action wants to open. Also, what method do you use to load?
  7. I'd like to make my Win 1200 easier to load and would like see what others have done to the loading port of their pumps. I can do a load 2 with some effort and I've managed to load 4 occasionally but usually fumble the second set of shells. After loading practice I find little slivers plastic from the shells so I wil be smoothing out all the sharp edges in the loading port. Anything else I can do?
  8. Never seen that. Tag for more info.
  9. Planning your initial load and how you plan to shoot the stage will go right out to window when you have to make up missed shots. One more factor to consider.
  10. The match I shot yesterday was 15 sec. Spinners were maybe 5-7 yards and #6 was not allowed. I had a tough time with Fed bulk 7.5 shot. The guys nailing it one shot were using Rem high brass 3 inch 7.5 shot. I learned a lot being my first time to shoot spinners newb that I am.
  11. Rhodie seems your info held true to my experience. Not sure why they were low on my initial 100 yd sight in. Well I ran the pump in Saturdays shotgun match. I shot the Fiocchi the day before at 100 yards and found the drop aprox 16-18 inches. So the very first stage of the match had 18x24 steel plates at approx 65 yards. So I held my bead right on the top of the plate. Every shot went right over the top. So the next slug targets later in the match were from 65 to 87 yards I held center of target on all of them and nailed them. The 87 I missed the first shot because I held top of target and again went over the top. Hold in center and nailed it. Seems the Fiocchi shoot pretty flat until the last few yards. I need more range time with these. One I figured out where to hold it was great. I like them. Oh using LM choke thru 26 inch barrel with no rear sight front bead only.
  12. Thanks, Just orderd. I wish they offered overnight. My Versa Max is inop. looks like the pump will get a workout at the match this saturday.
  13. I need a replacement shell catch/ bolt hold open for Rem Versa Max. Is Remington the only place to get these?
  14. Well crap, Versa Max is broken. Shell catch cracked. Anyone have a shell catch/ bolt hold open for Rem Varsa Max? Looks like the Win 1200 pump is getting sighted in and going to the match.
  15. Yes that helps. I'm going to the range tomorrow to sight in some 7/8 Fiocchi low recoil slugs. I've never shot any slugs thru my new Versa Max and I intend on shooting a match Saturday morning. Better late than never.
  16. Hey guys can anyone tell me how much the Fiocchi 7/8oz low recoil slugs drop at 100 yards?
  17. I wonder how well they'll hold up? I have some home brewed dummys that didn't hold up too well to repeated use.
  18. I can get all my Glocks to do this and initially it would chamber a round. Lately it has not been chambering a round, maybe a sign my mag springs may be a bit weak. Not sure. At any rate it's not reliable in a match and I've ejected the occasional live round as a result.
  19. I understand what you're talking about.. Yes the shell catch is obviously meant to flex. The little saw toothed tab that lives above the trigger when depressed upward pivots the shell catch back and allows a shell to pop out onto the lifter. If you could figure out how to make that work without the lifter being down you could dump the entire tube. That would be nice.
  20. look at the loading port. That little roll pin on the right side of the loading port in the receiver is the pivot point. That bar functions as a shell catch on the front enf and holds open the bolt on the back.
  21. I'll have to this tomorrow. My shell catch has been trimmed a bit and polished. It has not had the U-notch in the bolt release/shell cathc bar filed down yet. I may do that to make loading a bit easier but I've been hesitant since I don't want to weaken it and cause it to fail. Not that I've heard of any failing after that mod.
  22. That's good to know. I've been cycling dummys through the action but couldn't figure out how to dump the mag tube. I was sure I was missing something.
  23. I'd like to know aswell. I put the first 200 rounds thru my Versa Max Synth. A local gunsmith opened the loading port for me and massaged the trigger and safety and installed a rear sight. He did not take any material off the extraxtor cut out. I had several FTF due to the mouth of the shell impaling itself on the sharp edge of the extractor cut out. I have a match at Low Country Preserve this Saturday so I'm going to break that sharp edge myself . I just dont want to take off too much. So, how much is too much?
  24. I have a Carbon Arms 10+1 mag tube installed on my Synth VM. The tube is stainless with a carbon fibre sleeve over it. The extension/ end cap is aluminum. I do not have a VM Comp model.
