Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I recently picked up a used Safariland 014 holster and all the relevant accessories except any sort of owners manual. It was setup previously for a 2011 but was the same part number as the CZ model (there only seems to be two varieties). Anyway, I can't for the life of me figure out how to set it for the CZ. Does anyone have any pics of their 014 set for a CZ 75? In order to get the barrel plug to reach the barrel (ie:shorten it), the arm (or whatever you want to call it) ends up past the thumb release binding it, and I don't think there's enough clearance to get all four screws back in. Surely I'm missing something here. Kyle
  2. I've pretty consistently bombed re shoots any time I've had too. Usually mental mistakes like forgetting required hits or sequence.
  3. Thanks for the info so far. This is exactly why I was eating some bullets just doing dummy loads to get a feel for the process and adjusting. I'll dig a little deeper into the settings on my seat and crimp dies. To address one point of concern, when I said a "good crimp" I simply meant the taper crimp looked clean and didn't seem like anything was obviously wrong that would be catching on chambering. Probably a bad choice of words on my part. In other words, the bullet seemed to be seated properly and there was no gap or anything between the case and the projectile (ie: Seated to deep or something like that). But I'll go back and play around with the adjustments a bit and see if I get any different results. I may go pull some 115gr and re-assemble for an exact comparison.
  4. For this test I was using 147gr Berry's. OAL was measured with a caliper, got them spot on with some factory Freedom Munitions that I've had excellent cycling with. I was just using that as a reference point for something that works. I know walking the slide isn't a great test, but I was getting a little bit of flat spotting on the projectile which was a little worry some. I can try through some of my other handguns and see if it's the same.
  5. I decided to start reloading - mostly so I can eventually do some loads that aren't easy to source off the shelf. Anyway, I spent the last week getting a Lee classic turret press setup to start out with. I've ran a handful of brass through it (no primer or powder yet while setting it up) and ran into an issue. Since there are essentially dummy loads, I was just trying to get OAL within general spec, comparing to some known awesome factory loads. When I dry cycle them through my glock, the first chambering is a little rough. If I drop the slide, they get into battery but not smooth. If I walk the slide, they'll catch either 1/2 way or about 1/10th of an inch from battery. It doesn't take a lot to ride it home, so it's close. I've noticed one spot on the case mouth has a ding, and in a couple cases I've gotten a flat spot on the projectile. Re-chambering the same round is smooth as butter. I don't have any of these issues on good factory ammo. Anyone have an idea of what I should look into? As I said, OAL looks good, and I'm getting a crimp that holds well. Thanks!
  6. Thanks all...really helpful stuff here. Ought to be fun figuring this out
  7. Hi, I'm new to multi-gun type events. I'm shooting a few shotgun only matches this year and have a question about loads. Typically when a match calls for say target, buckshot an slugs, are they ever mixed in the same stage? I guess I'm wondering of I need to be worried about the strategy of when to load different tiles, or if stages are usually all one type. Thanks! Kyle
