  1. The holiday inn apex is our match hotel...ask for the tarheel3gun rate. Last I checked they are almost sold out that week. Just checked, Sold Out. as well as the Candlewood next door
  2. Are these vids shot with a drone cam? Nevermind I saw the shadow of the stick mounted cam. Very cool.
  3. I'm bidding my vacation time in a few weeks. If I plan this shoot to include a trip to Moab my wife will love it.
  4. Received my new Razor 1x6 yesterday. Mounted in a LaRue SPR-E. I wont be able to sight in until next Monday. Scanning the area I'm very happy with the clarity of the glass. The switchview for it is on backorder.
  5. I have a Vortex Razor 1x6 on the way...finally!!
  6. I have a Youngs low mass BCG on order from Rainier right now. I'm going to throw it in and see how it runs. If I'm over gasssed I'll put an adjustable gas block in and dial it in.
  7. I've been seriously conciderin ditching the my Versa Max and getting an M2. It has never shot point of aim no matter the choke. Both birdshot and slugs are high and right. Shooting slugs at less than 50 yards with an IDPA target I have to aim low and left completely off the paper to get a center hit. Birdshot is not quite as bad but it still patterns high right. I found a 22 inch barrel online and swapped it out for the 26 inch, no change in POI. I contacted Remington and they said the serial number did not fall in the group or barrels they recalled. I'm hesitant to sent it to Remington since it's been massaged for 3 gun. At this point I'm not sure who to send it to to try and rework it. I'm using a Carbon Arms Versa Tube as well. The 22 inch confirmed to me it's not the barrel. It has to be the receiver. With the money I've dropped so far I could have had an M2 prepped for 3 gun. Highly dissappointed.
  8. I feel like I'm asking a taboo question here... What do the 3 Gun Professionals do when their not attending a match? Do they have other jobs or do they make enough in endorsements to live and shoot? Do you pull down enough to shoot everyday and not have to punch a clock? I watched an interview with a multi-championship winner and he said "Most people shoot matches to have fun and if they win that's great. I get paid to shoot matches and win and if I have fun that's great." So, you big name shooting squads, what is the extent of your "win". I'm not trying to corner anyone here or call anyone out. Do you all get paid to shoot full time? I ask because just attending a match within a four or five hour drive can be relatively expensive. Gas or rental car and/or airfare and hotel, food, ammo, etc. All add up and if you attend even a couple of major matches it's no small tab. How do you do it?
  9. Yeah. The idea is similar to the 2.8 plates. The shells in the center are taller. So when your big dick beaters come flying in to grab shells and you miss or come in hot your palm doesn't bump the next set of shells back and knock them loose or misalign them. That's an issue I have as well.
  10. As stated you should see an improvement in accuracy once you work up a load with the suppressor vs without it. It improves or tames barrel harmonics.
  11. A bolt action will always be quieter than a semi-auto no matter the caliber. You get a lot of noise from the action. All loads development sub- sonic or otherwise should be done with the suppressor installed.
  12. I'm going to be pattern testing chokes this coming week with my Versa Max for an upcoming match in Nov. The last all shotgun match I shot in May was with a Win 1200 pump and I shot the entire match with LM after reading Mr. Kelley's article. I believe the Fed Flight Control buck I was using in May was opening up too fast due to the LM choke I was using, preventing the Flight Control cup from doing its job. I'm really not sure. Maybe I'm just a lousy shot. Also I want to see the effect of cylinder bore choke on the Fiocchi slugs I shoot vs the LM choke I used for the entire match in May. LM was good for 10 of the 12 stages. The exceptions being an all buck stage with the FC buck and an all clay target stage where many shooters used a full choke for some long shots. I'm also having an issue with slugs shooting very high and right with the VM. I have the XS rear blade sight as far left as it will go and still give the set screw some purchase just to get slugs somewhat centered. I'm really not happy about that. I'm hoping a different choke will correct this or at least improve it.
  13. I just thought I'd update this to report the UDPL 3 gun match was a great match. Aside from my bolt handle departing my Versa Max on the first stage of the day I had a really good time. Good people, good facility. Great 3 gun match.
  14. Once again I've managed to break the outer most retaining clips on my two of my 2.8 carriers. Not by going prone like before, this time I had them packed with other gear in a Pelican case flying to Utah. Once again Kevin at Invictus Practical is sending me free replacement parts. He also suggested you transport these with shells in them since this gives the clips some support and prevents them from flexing so much should something bump against them. Obviously you can't keep them loaded when flying, all ammo must be in a box or container specifically for ammo. Magazines and shell caddies can't be loaded. So I'm going to cut some dowel rods to use just for transporting my IP caddies. Kevin stands behind his products. Best customer service ever.
  15. 9MM, 3.8gr Titegroup 125gr Rn Blue Bullet. 1.15 o.a.l. Haven't chrono'd them but I like the way they shoot.
  16. I have access to plenty of scrap aluminum sheet metal. I'll just cut and drill as needed.
  17. I'll be loading 700X in both .45 auto, 9mm and .38 special in the near future. I'm loading my last pound of Titegroup right now.
  18. Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen that thread. Uncoated lead over Titegroup will look like you're shooting black powder. I see the same amount of smoke shooting 230gr Bayou Bullets in my .45 auto as I do shooting FMJ. Coated bullets reduce the smoke dramaticly. I'm currently load testing some 9mm 125gr Blue Bullets and they produce little to no smoke as well with Titegroup.
  19. 3.8 gr Titegroup 125gr RN Blue Bullet. 1.14 OAL
  20. I'm loading Blue Bullet 125 gr in my 9mm and haven't noticed any blue on my hands. I'm going to try them out and shoot Steel Challenge with you guys if I can get out of work on time this Saturday morning.
  21. Care to tell us what you changed to get below 70 oz? You dropped 7.25 oz, that nearly half a pound. That's significant. Nice build, now I want to do a super-lite build.
