  1. Its a shame too as the gun cycled nicely when it actually cycled. Otherwise, the damned gun just would NOT extract shell casings from the chamber no matter how well we tried to clean it out.
  2. A buddy of mine has one. The extractor pin fell out and locked the slide to the frame. We had to do quite a bit of "gunsmithing" aka a BFH to get it apart. On top of that, it is VERY ammo sensitive, like...beyond ammo sensitive. The federal champion bulk wont run in the gun, period. Every other .22 we have runs this stuff and that includes rounds through an AA conversion kit. I dont know if he has a lemon but this experience jives with some others that i have read about...
  3. Could you give us a little bit more info? Stock striker spring? Define lock up issues if you will. The slide is coming out of battery prematurely or you are suffering from say an early unlock issue where your accurate is completely bonered.
  4. Yes sir. Just for kicks and giggles i am going to try a 13 lb spring in the gun this week to see if i am still experiencing the same phenomenon. I have a feeling the gun may be under sprung but we will see. Ive been reading that alot of guys on here are rocking 13 lb springs with 135k power factor ammo.
  5. The only good part about the ti safety is that its pre domed. If you do not have the means to dome your stock safety then the ti unit is worth it as the cost is minimal. I havent noticed any peening, scratching or damage to the domes of any of my Ti units but there IS peening where the striker engages the unit. I have seen similar peening on factory units as well.
  6. Ok guys, humor me as i am a simpleton when it comes to physics so i am just relaying my observations in the hopes that someone can answer some questions for me. Let me give a little bit of background. In october of 2011 i picked up a generation 4 g17 to run as a production gun in USPSA. The generation 4 guns fit my hands better and the texture is actually a texture. Now, to the best of my knowledge and from what i have been told the generation 4 frames were designed from the ground up to be internally and structurally different from the generation 3 frames due to the way the pistols unlock and flex after being fired. This can all be traced back to the gun being designed (improperly) around the dual recoil spring. Fast forward to the last two weeks of December of 2011 and i started running a single stage spring, specifically an ISMI 15 pound recoil spring. I started doing this in the hopes of increasing slide velocity to get my 17 to track more like my 19. The 19 is an absolute beast when it comes to recoil and sight recovery, i love it. On the 17 i find that there is significant deviation in how my sights are lifting and settling. The first 2k rounds through the single stage 15 lb ISMI spring were quite rewarding. The gun seemed to be tracking a bit better with off the shelf, factory WWB 115 grain loads that are supposed to come in at 137k power factor. Fast forward a TON of dry fire (cycles on the spring) and another 2k rounds and well, i am starting to experience a WEIRD phenomenon that i can best describe as a "wiggle". It is almost as though someone is wringing my gun as though it were a wet towel after it fires. The gun is recoiling and the sights are performing a circular dance. Now, i am aware of torsional flex in the frame when the gun cycles but ive never actually felt or seen this in ANY gun ive shot. I am also starting to notice some peening on the top of my slide where the locking block is flexing and beating against the metal. Now, my G19 which has been run EXCLUSIVELY with the dual stage spring is also showing this peening so im not too terribly worried about that as ive heard that it is normal. What i am worried about is any issues this single stage spring may be causing on a frame that was designed for use with a dual stage, progressive spring. Am i crazy? Am i over sprung, under sprung? Is this me? I have access to ALOT of VERY good shooters that have all shot my guns and have all said the same thing "its a gun". I tend to over think alot of things but they also all admit that due to my dedication to ONE and only ONE firearm, i am particularly in tune with my gun so they have yet to agree that im 100% nuts. Does anyone have any thoughts on what may be going on here? If the generation 4 frames do not play nice with the single stage recoil springs that would end up being a major bummer as i plan on starting to reload in 2012 and i am obviously going to have to tune my recoil spring to the ammo. Thanks in advance for whatever insight you guys can provide.

    Skimmer Trigger

Actually...the sear that comes with the FSS is longer on the FRONT to engage the trigger bar earlier. There is also no sear in a Glock.

    Glock 34 mods

Why the .245 front for 30+ yard shots? Six o'clock hold screwing you up at that distance?
  9. To take that one step further. Glock is now shipping ejectors to certified armorers...thank god. Called them earlier today and that was what they told me they were now doing.
  10. That copper colored stuff is residual anti seize left over from the factory. I still have it all over my gen 4 G17 despite nearing 1k rounds with it. It lasts quite a while unless you clean it out intentionally.
  11. Just to clarify... To the guys that are having the problem. ARE your slides counterbored or not? I have a 5/2011 production G17 that i just put his gen 4 steel rod into and while its not "loose" its also not under much tension if any when i place it onto the barrel notch.
  12. Duane, I have one of the springs in my gen 4 G19 that has ran over 8k live fire since May 2011 and god only knows how many dry fire cycles. No breakage. I also have one in my Gen 4 G17 and it has repeated its performance as far as durability goes but this particular gun has almost no rounds on it. It does make the trigger press a little lighter but i havent actually measured it. One thing i will say is that with certain spring combos im running into issues with the trigger not resetting all the way forward ie disabling the trigger safety. My reset on both guns is still tactile and forceful. Its a cheap part so giving it a whirl wont break the bank.
  13. They're not "backordered". They're not even available. I called last week and was given an ETA of mid November. They're essentially on Pre order status right now. I forgot to ask if it had an extended tip.
  14. Mind elaborating on this? What is the spring binding on and which way are you bending? Im assuming you're bending the spring inwards towards the actual lever?

    conversion barrel

No. They're reliable enough but not as reliable as sticking with what the factory put in the gun.
  16. I read the previously posted topic. I didn't care for the "new finish is better" tone. So I decided to start a different topic with the "new finish sucks ALOT" tone. You merged it. That's ok. You have that power. I don't like it, but what can I do about it? Nothing. It's no big deal but you shouldn't automatically assume that I was stupid and failed to "search", or read the current thread. So...you mentioned you held a generation 3 gun at the gun store and the finish "felt bad". What else are you basing your statements on? Those of us with Glocks that have all THREE finishes are the ones that should be commenting. My Gen 4 is wearing like my Gen 2's with the matte finish, ie extremely well. All in all, they're wearing about the same as my buddies gen 3 with the slick/shiny finish.
  17. Agreed. I am running one in my Gen 2 G22 and i REALLY dig it. Very light, discernible reset and on top of that, it gives me a bit of a rolling break that i dig. To me, its an amalgamation of 5.5 pound connectors and the minus connector.
  18. There are some people, myself included that seem to think that the newer finish wears EXTREMELY well. I have a Gen 4 G19 that has seen several thousand presentations, been thrown into sand, dirt, gravel etc and still has zero scratches. At 8k rounds there is barely any wear on the hood or on the muzzle end. I dig it.
  19. Depends on the complexity of your pattern, the size of your tip etc. You can do a crappy stipple job in about 15 minutes if you dont particularly care how it looks.
  20. How much material are you removing when you round your plunger? Ive noticed that the lightening strike TI plungers have a pretty severe curve to it. I rounded a factory plunger but im not sure if i could get away with removing more material.
  21. Mine self destructed in a gen 4 G19 after 150 rounds. No thanks.
