    I hate you people.

Im never one to really look at aesthetics of a firearm but yeah, ive got to agree that the shadow's slide looks slapped onto the frame. It looks like it doesnt fit. Still...it goes bang so...who cares.
  2. No, the witness is not the same as the Witness Stock 2. EAA is the distributor that wholesales Tanfoglio pistols in the United States.
  3. I compare the CZ75 and the Stock II to an M&P versus a Glock. For me, the M&P was always torquing in my hand no matter what size grip insert i would use. I simply could not get comfortable with the gun and the recoil impulse was always unpredictable to me because of the way the pistol fit my hand. Im not one to really talk about "fit" of a pistol but in this instance, if there is space between the gun and your grip, the gun is always going to want to move into that negative space. The Glock for me filled my hand nicely and had a very, very repeatable recoil path. The same can be said for the CZ 75 versus the Stock II. The stock II grip fills the hand and gives plenty of area for your weak hand to clamp down on whereas the CZ75 feels a bit cramped. I also notice that i do not torque my weak hand wrist forward as much with the CZ75 because i am too busy trying to hang on to the small grip under recoil. I like the stock II better as a gun but for now, the peace of mind afforded by being able to purchase ANY part i need for my CZ75's wins the day. If Tanfo would get their act straight with EAA and start importing these things they would be a surefire winner as they're quite affordable and they really are excellent guns.
  4. The custom shop polishes a bunch of parts that when put together yield improvements. Singular modifications to parts after they've been polished will be almost imperceptible. The biggest gain is actually shooting the gun and continuing the "bedding" process so to speak. As an aside, when polishing the sides of the trigger bow make sure you lay it flat on a piece of glass with the polishing medium on the glass as well.

    accu shadow

No...you wouldnt... The barrels are not hand fit and even then there are production variations between slides AND barrels... The CZ, regardless of its price, is NOT a custom 1911, or even a semi custom 1911. The fact that they can be made as accurate as the AccuShadow is, is a testament to a good design.
  6. Why not just convert to single action? Did CZ custom use locator "tabs" for the deltapoint or is it just held in by screws? Any concerns with the thing holding zero if they just milled the slide for screws?
  7. Rob, Got any pics of that bad boy? I would ditch the recoil master. The simple fact of the matter is that 9mm guns (.45 as well obviously) can be made to run just fine on single stage springs. MY Springfield Loaded 9mm runs like a raped ape with 11 lb recoil springs.
  8. I want to pick one of these up as a cheaper trainer and a cheap loaner gun. However, the inability to find a definitive answer as to whether or not it can be production legal is a bit annoying. As others have said, it is basically a witness so...i guess maybe we should email John Amidon and bug him about it?
  9. Does it really matter? There is how a gun "feels" and then how it shoots. Between a box stock SP01 and a super gooshed up Shadow, i cannot feel a difference (trigger aside) when actually shooting them. Even an Akai gun while nice in the hands shoots like a Shadow. Maybe im just a simpleton, i dunno but subjective "feel" of a gun when you're not shooting it never mattered to me.
  10. I havent had a chance to update this. I also didnt want to throw CGW out there as being the culprit until we were absolutely sure. Im still on the fence about this as i dont believe it is CGW's "issue". David is sending me a new pin to throw into the gun and we will go from there. I will report my findings but again, i do not think this is CGW's issue.
  11. As the other posters have said...what exactly is the problem with your Springfield? Mine has been nothing short of spectacular in 3k rounds with only some minor tweaks.
  12. The pin is brand new. Installed today. Dry fired maybe 100 times? If so...ewww...snap caps..blech.
  13. Here is a video to accompany the issue. I believe the firing pin was improperly heat treated which caused it to peen. When i remove pressure from the hammer on the firing pin the firing pin block drops.
  14. Hey guys, I have a bit of a weird issue. I picked up an SP01 (non shadow) with the firing pin block used. I believe the gun was in stock configuration. This is what i have in it now: 11.5 Mainspring CGW Extended firing pin CGW Reduced power firing pin spring CGW Solid firing pin retaining pin I had a reduced power firing pin spring installed but i just swapped it out and the problem persists. In double action mode there is a slight HITCH as i visually SEE the firing pin block DROP down onto the lifter arm. If i pull the trigger all the way the gun operates normally. When i reset the gun the firing pin block is now raised off of the lifter about an 1/16th of an inch. Slight pressure, say 1/8th of an inch of trigger movement on the DA stroke causes the firing pin block to drop down onto the lifter arm. This issue is ONLY present in DA and is awfully annoying as i can feel the hitch in the trigger. I believe there may be something going on with the firing pin and the firing pin block but im not sure what exactly. EDIT: The firing pin block moves normally when i push it with a punch. There is no friction and it has full range of movement. Anyone have any advice? Also, when i pulled the firing pin there was some WEIRD peening on the u-shaped cutout where it interfaces with the retaining pin in the slide. Thanks in advance guys.
  15. It is one of the more popular competitive guns which means there are options but nothing like the Glock. I would even say the M&P surpasses the CZ as far as trigger options but not accessories. Parts are NOT as available however as the Glock or the M&P. In regard to the topic, i am a firm believer that it is the Indian and not the arrow although some shooters may find particular arrows more to their liking based upon individual characteristics. The CZ is not a better gun than the Glock. The 43 ounce weight certainly helps mute recoil but if the shooter has moderate hand and forearm strength, the G34 is not exactly a hand canon. Predictable recoil is more important than lack of recoil.

    Polishing Feed Ramp

Does the pistol run? Are you having feedway stoppages?
  17. Bobby, If its a target pistol and only a target pistol then trigger and sight radius should be the most important aspects of your buying criteria. Any pistol with no firing pin block would be a good idea.
  18. I would lean towards David only because of how personable he is. He still loves his job and you can tell that he has a vested interest in helping his customers. The only problem there is that i do not believe David can mill your slide for the adjustable LPA sight but it never hurts to ask. I felt a little bad calling CZ custom a while ago. The guy i spoke to sounded bored but the questions that i asked were probably cookie cutter and questions that he receives ad nauseum on a daily basis so i took his lack of enthusiasm with a grain of salt. He was informative and answered the questions accordingly.
  19. Really?!? are you using the factory hammer? Which hammer spring. I polished the crap out of everything, run the race hammer with a 20# hammer spring and have a icicle break sub 2# trigger with just over 2mm or travel from stop to stop. With a 15# hammer spring it's like butter with a 1#, 7oz pull. Ive had a number of 2011 guys get major broners dry firing my TS Trigger pull on my 9mm Tactical Sports with comp hammer and stock springs came in at 570 grams, guess that equals about 1#, 4oz... That makes me cringe bud... This is indeed a DA/SA gun and the SA is very light, too light for my personal tastes. I compared the engagement surface area between the stock CZ75 hammer and the comp hammer and i can see where the difference comes from. The CZ comp hammer barely sits on the sear lol. Are you serious about that offer to send me a factory cz75 hammer Kneeling? I would take you up on that. I was going to order some parts from CZ custom last night but 15 dollars to ship a 20 dollar hammer is absurd. PM inbound.
  20. Really?!? are you using the factory hammer? Which hammer spring. I polished the crap out of everything, run the race hammer with a 20# hammer spring and have a icicle break sub 2# trigger with just over 2mm or travel from stop to stop. With a 15# hammer spring it's like butter with a 1#, 7oz pull. Ive had a number of 2011 guys get major broners dry firing my TS CZ competition hammer as configured on a stock Shadow TS. The only change is an 11.5 lb mainspring versus the "factory" 13. I have documented my issues with my gun elsewhere on the board so in this case, different strokes for different folks. I like heavier triggers.
  21. What exactly is the "advantage"? I was comparing a standard 75B hammer/sear combo to my Shadow Target and there is WAY more sear engagement on the 75b with the hammer hooks. This results in a heavier and crisper trigger than the slap happy light weight mush factory that is on my TS.
  22. Everyone here speaks absolute sense and i appreciate the feedback. Like i said i have a sample of one so i dont KNOW what it SHOULD feel like. The only other CZ i have ever handled is a regular CZ75B that i worked over that has a firing pin block and a VERY different feel from my shadow. My gun DID come with a stripped screw in the adjustable rear sight and i was planning on sending my slide in to have the sight replaced so maybe i will send in the whole gun and have it looked at. I am however very tempted to simply try the sear and see how it pans out. Part of the fun of owning guns is working on them, at least for me.
  23. The trigger...sucks. I dont think this is CZ customs fault. Id rather minimize cost if i can, a 300 dollar trigger job is not something i really want to pursue at this time.
  24. If i may ask. Which LPA sight is that on the Tactical Sport? The Sight Notch seems deep and wide...i like.
  25. It depends... On wide open close targets i can run .15/.16 splits with a 3.5 pound trigger. We are talking five yards and in keeping everything in the A zone. You have to refine your question a little more. What distance are we talking about here and what target type? The gun is NOT holding you back...
