  1. I have a few pieces of brass that had a crimped pocket that I managed to get a primer barely in, (stuck in the case snugly but barely inserted). How do I neutralize the live primer? I also have 8 grains of mystery powder in a bag from a 9 major round I picked up at a match thinking it was my live round after unload and show clear. I pulled the bullet, what do I do with this powder? (luckily I noticed the filled in hollow point and didn't shoot it in my production gun!, I chamber checked it out of curiousity, and it would of made it in my Glock 34 even though it was loaded a little long) Legality and safety first! Thanks for any input
  2. Its entirely dependent on personal preference, but I will note you can get started in limited for less money with the Glock 35. Mags are cheaper, Dawson extensions come with springs, and any desired aftermarket parts are easier to install for the most part.
  3. I traded my G35 for a G34 when I decided I wanted to shoot production. The biggest driving force there was that I wasn't reloading at the time. A couple of months later(I'm a new noob, i was at a range trying to figure out how a semi auto handgun worked exactly a year ago) I bought a Dillon 550 and am now kicking myself a little because I could of just popped off the magwell and loaded to minor when I wanted to shoot production, and loaded to major and used the Dawson Basepads and magwell when I wanted to shoot limited. So now I'm just going to shoot production till I get good
  4. Brian provided great service to me as well on my 550, he even noticed what I was going for by what I was buying and provided me advice to complete my objective. Great guy!
  5. Before I started reloading, I would use 124 gr. Federal American Eagle. You can buy it online for about 220 a thousand. It came out at an average of 138 PF out of my stock Glock 34.
  6. There are videos online that show all the information on the dvd. It's pretty vague, it mostly just shows you how to set up the press. No trouble shooting help. When you set your priming system up make sure you refer to the spec in the manual(the spec for how far the primer punch should be seated into the cup) and your life will be much easier. And keep all things involved in the primer point of operation clean.
  7. I give you a pat on the back for stopping on your own volition. That's great sportsmanship.
  8. I have a Beagle with dangerous eating habits, it's been scary a couple times. Glad to hear your little girl is doing okay!!
  9. The Black Ice is exactly 1/2" from the ejection port on my glock 34, so its legal (barely). I was warned at the Ohio Sectional because I wear my pants a little low so with a DOH the gun was a little too low as well. I've got to hike up the pants so I don't get put into open!
  10. Go Chris Go! Sign my boobs!
  11. I flipped the insert and they are chambering now, problem free. I'm going to go load up some ammo now! Three cheers for Bob Dubois! I also had to back off the flare a little bit too, i still had a few that were a little tight.

  13. All of the resized cases drop into the chamber. The bulge appears after the bullet is seated, I can feel the base of the bullet bulging out of the case wall.
  14. I did notice a slight bulge on one side after going back over my loads. What causes this?
  15. I set the specs compared to factory ammo I have. Everything is matching up. At certain points of the cartridge my reloads are a thousandth wider than factory, but I don't think that will make a difference. I'm going to try some regular fmj and see what happens.
  16. Reporting sir: I removed my barrel, the resized cases drop right in. I don't have a case gauge. This morning I resized some cases and loaded them into a mag. The empty cases fed and ejected no problem. Do you think it is the hollow point? The resized cases go into the chamber and i'm at factory oal. When I drop the reloads into the barrel by hand they make it about 75% of the way in.
  17. Made my first batch of reloads in 40 sw today for my Para P1640 (no pxt, 2001 build). I have ran thousands of factory rounds through it, even the cheapest of the cheap(ultramax, blazer) with zero issues. I loaded a 180 gr. Zero jhp to 1.13 with a crimp of .420. Powder charge doesn't matter because I haven't even had a round chamber yet. I shortened to 1.12 and still no luck. The round almost makes it,the slide is barely open. There's a little added tension when I try to eject it, but the round ejects like normal. I have never ran any hollow points through this gun, decided to try those first after doing research regarding accuracy prior to starting to reload. Is it the profile of the jhp causing the problem? Have any other P1640 owners had this same issue?

    Glock 24 trigger

I'm thinking of putting together a six inch limited gun since my girlfriend has staked her claim on my Para P1640, I've really thought about picking up a 24 and putting a Vanek or a Glocktriggers.com Limited in it. Glad to hear positive results. Or I may try a 2011 for the first time. Wish someone besides TJ could get a six inch Para in 40... Anyhow rambling, a G24 in your setup sounds appealing to me.
  19. Is the Clays mentioned above just plain Clays or is it Universal Clays?
  20. I've tried a lot and they have all been accurate. Me pulling a shot off with a wacky trigger jerk, not accurate. I have one glock with a Challenger trigger and one Glock that's stock. I'm more accurate with the Challenger trigger, but I feel that the trigger job just helps compensate for my lack of skill, it's not really the gun itself that's inaccurate. In short, I'm with Flex, Pick one and practice. If I made time for serious practice, I'm sure I'd get better results.
  21. My 550b wouldn't feed primers consistently out of the box(new owner had one less than a month). After referring to the troubleshooting portion of the manual I discovered the primer punch wasn't seated deep enough in my small primer cup. I loosened the set screw, compressed it on my bench, tightened set screw and I got the desired spec(It was 80 thousandths off to begin with). It has fed primers 100% since then (given I've only loaded around 6 or 7 hundred rounds).
  22. PPU Brass. 50/50 that the primer will go in and seat. New to reloading, don't think the pocket is crimped, just extremely tight.
  23. I will pick up your gun and chrono and let you know how it works out
  24. Postal Bob hit the nail on the head. When the press is at rest the primer cup is contacting the shell plate(sometimes). I can lift up slightly when I index, I loaded up 100 rounds that way tonight. Any suggestions on an adjustment for this? It is running ok otherwise.
