  1. Never dealt with them before but http://www.rogueoutdoors.com/servlet/the-143398/Shell-Plate-%238/Detail has listed in stock Amazon has 9 in stock http://www.amazon.com/Hornady-Improve-Shell-Plate-Makarov/dp/B000PD6R8G
  2. Tripp's get my vote. +10K rounds through 5 Tripp's I got last year and still counting, zero malfunctions (even with all the scratches from stompin them in the gravel)
  3. I had some high primers especially loading cci small rifle in 223. I've got the dimple in the press base as described by others and while troubleshooting I found that placing a penny under the seater (trying to isolate the dimple as the prob) helped but didn't eliminate the high primers entirely. It seems that the seater is just long enough to work 95% of the time, maybe Hornady didn't want to risk the liability of making them longer and have someone slam seat a primer and have a detonation. I was going to call and ask if they had a longer length seater when I thought I'd try a free fix. Removed the anvil from a spent small primer and attached the cup to the bottom of the seater with a drop of super glue. Works perfect now, No more high primer's. Was a temporary trial/fix but it has worked perfect through several thousand loads and is still going strong.
  4. Maximum point blank range using A-zone height(approx 8") with your load appears to be 293 yards, would be a 252 yard zero. (sight in at 100yds is 3.1 inches High). Using your info plugged into JBM calculator Did another quick calc and if you wanted to adjust your scope to hit dead on at 500 yards, it looks like you would have to sight in 14" high at 100 yards
  5. I'd agree, too little movement to be concerned with there would actually probably be more movement caused by your trigger finger between the time it trips the sear the hammer falls and the bullet leaves the muzzle. Don't sweat the little stuff, consistent form would be more important to worry about, then you sight in for point of impact. Here is a pretty cool video I found on youtube, shows muzzle just barely starting to move as bullet exits barrel Real good view about 38 seconds in
  6. AMerc's the worst as others have stated...although I'm not above sneaking it into a buddy's brass bag Had a lot of problems with a batch G.F.L brass in 223 I ran across having shallow primer pockets
  7. Most of my favorites have been listed already. I also liked 3:10 to Yuma (2007)
  8. Having AMERC brass sneak its way into the press
  9. Voted SRV. But flip a coin and it could just as easily be one of the others
  10. I had quite a few of the PPU headstamps. It appears they are crimped and lacquered in with some type of sealant or glue. Had to adjust the de-capper down much farther than normal and then most would pop out but some would just pierce the primer. I finally gave up and tossed them in the scrap bucket.
  11. I pick up all the brass I can find so I full length size on my single stage then set and lock my calipers at maximum case length. Drop them all through(usually while watching the TV) and trim any that won't fit through the jaws, gives me an opportunity to look for split case necks as well as crimped primer pockets. Trim & decrimp the ones the need it, deburr/chamfer. Give them a quick tumble to remove sizing lube, then use the progressive press for prime/powder/seat/crimp
  12. I started shooting USPSA last year shooting a 45 Auto Single stack. Bought a CZ SP-01 off a friend to shoot production as a second gun (and save a little $$ on reloading). Resprung, trigger polished and smoothed up a bit, Dawson fiber front, shadow rear sights pretty much stock other than that. Load my own ammo on a Hornady L&L 3.2gr n320 147gr Precision Moly @ 1.100 for 130pf
  13. Wow! Never thought to leave my thumb off the gun. My support hand thumb rides the dust cover just in front of the slide lock on my 1911 and my CZ Always tried putting pressure there to help control recoil. Even consciously worked to increase the pressure as much as possible. Never thought to ease up a bit. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks!
  14. Are you chamfering the inside of the case mouth? I've never needed to bell any rifle rounds, just de-burr the outside of the neck and chamfer the inside
  15. I use a Techwell SP with a set of pre-inletted Mil-Tac G10 Diagonal pattern grips Nice, aggressive grip. I love mine http://www.mil-tac.com/
  16. I do this, same color in the extractor groove. They really stand out
  17. 1 single stage RCBS Ammomaster 1 progressive Hornady L&L
  18. I sat in a little cubbyhole reloading for years. When I built my new bench in an actual room I set it up for standing or sitting on a bar stool. I haven't bought the barstool yet. Standing is too comfortable. Legs and a$$ don't fall asleep and can use whole body to work the press. Much less fatiguing IMO
  19. My support hand thumb comes up to the slide stop/release when seating the fresh mag anyway, so I just pull down on the release and then roll my support hand forward to complete my grip. USPSA Single Stack, I end up at slide lock a lot more than I should
