  1. We had a great time at the match. It was my 16 year old granddaughter first major and she loved it. RO's were awesome with her. Stages were fun, just enough difficulty. Wind was tough. We really liked to be able to coach each other. Night drive was a blast. Looking forward to next year. The check to the juniors to advance their shooting was a wonderful surprise. I see a new Benelli in her future. Thanks Jeremy & all the staff. Gerrit, Nick, & Juliann
  2. If you have a torx bit that will fit, tap it in and try turning it out. Works almost all of the time. gerritm
  3. UML rules based matches allow 9mm PCC and the MD will adjust the targets so you will be able to compete in a separate division as PCC only. There will be no long range, usually just to 100 yards or less, but you will not use your pistol or shotgun. In the 2x4 division you can use the PCC in place of shotgun or pistol on steel or paper. but will still need to shoot long range with rifle. We have several matches in the Houston area that are UML based or do not have long range, just bay stages and can substitute 9mm for AR. Bottom line if it is UML or the MD allows it is a good way to get started, and the stages will be adjusted for you to shoot PCC, but it will depend on the how the MD runs the match. My granddaughter got started this way and now shoots tac ops. gerritm
  4. Yes it was, my Dad, when he retired to Florida, about 1980. Scary. Had to ask him if he dressed in the dark. Red & green checked Bermuda shorts with a pink striped golf shirt. Never dressed that way till he moved there. gerritm
  5. You have to stop @ Buc ees on the way to the match. We are lucky with so many great matches close to Houston. We drive between 1/2 hour(Galveston) to 2.5 hours to CCC in Navasota. With a stop at Buc ees. gerritm
  6. Don't forget the plaid bermuda shorts & striped golf shirt.
  7. Getting close, but not quite ready for Florida. Few more years.
  8. This. My granddaughter when she first started shooting would occasionally get doubles/bump fires. We would all shoot the gun and could never duplicate it. Figured out she was not holding stock tight against shoulder. Once we worked with her on this it eliminated the doubles. If you eliminate this variable then go to trigger/buffer combo. gerritm
  9. Really don't need a lecture. My plated round I had shot well over 1K before this and her plated round at least 500. They had been tested, glad you were the first. I test every load. Just never been tested in cold weather, this is Texas, doesn't happen very often this time of the year. That was the variable. Shot both old loads from both guns yesterday in 80 degree weather and they shot fine, no failures and ejection was good. Bumped up the load for both and tested yesterday, all good. Thanks for the help, gerritm
  10. One thing it seems like all the MD's around here are doing is screwing with the PCC shooters by putting ridiculous left & right hard leans around corners & barrels. Nice thing with the ULW PCC is throw a laser on it and 1 hand it. Love mine, well actually my granddaughter confiscated it. If you are concerned about accuracy with the short barrel, I have shot full & half poppers @ 80 yards with it and she has shot a 6 plate 6" plate rack at 100 yards with no trouble in a UML match. gerritm
  11. This, puts my dot perfect for birdshot at all common distances. Slug hits pretty much point of aim out to 100 yards. gerritm
  12. Guns are lubed and cleaned especially hers. Her PCC/pistol is cleaned and lubed before every match and many times wiped down/lubed halfway thru matches cause TG is so dirty. I would never hear the end of it if guns MF cause of lack of maintenance between her dad & I. Using a little BE Slide Glide light on the G34's rails and Mobil 1 0w-20. Pretty sure not a lube problem. Ar's are lubed wet with Mobil 1. We have shot many matches before in the 40's and high 30's before. Not that unusual here in what little winter we have. Pretty sure it is powder temp and cutting it a little too close. Learned a lesson. Bump it up a bit. Will be wishing for the cool weather in a month or so. gerritm
  13. Thanks for the response, kind of what I was thinking. Had an issue at the same match with my TG load in both my G34 open gun & Tanfo open gun. These are set up for falling steel & 3-gun. I know TG is a fast powder and not a lot of gas for the comp, but is what the guns both like. 3.4-3.5grs TG with a 124gr plated Everglades bullet, I have run this load for 1K or so rounds with no problems & Saturday had a couple of FTE stovepipes in my G34 so I switched to my Tanfo for Sunday falling steel match. Coldest day was Saturday @ low 40's with 20 plus MPH North wind. Sunday it was a little warmer in the morning mid-upper 40's with no wind. Had the FTE stovepipes early, switched to some factory ammo & they worked. Warmed up to mid 50's switched back to the TG, 124's and they worked fine. So pretty sure it was temp. First time I have had issues like this. Usually pretty warm/hot here. Going to bump both loads up a bit for the future, just thought this was interesting. gerritm
  14. Funny thing is the G34 operated just fine with the coated SNS and would FTE with the plated bullets under the same circumstances, weather, & variables. I know it is a light load and can go to a heavier bullet. My question more revolved around the bullet diameter making that big a difference and possibly temperature, being colder than normal. Mid to low 40's is cold here in TX. Just kind of surprised me. Figured they would work. She was not happy. Bullets plunked fine. I have run 124's &147's in this gun and her PCC. This is just what she likes. Want to be able to run same loads in both so no confusion. I will go up a few 10ths for the 115grs or bump up to the 124's I run. Thanks for the help. gerritm
  15. For my granddaughter"s PCC & Glock 34 I changed from 115gr SNS casting poly coated to 115gr Everglades plated bullets due to leading in our PCC rifles & comps. It is a light load for 3-gun & steel matches. Same recipe, 3.1gr Titegroup @ 1.12 OAL. Double checked weights when I switched. Been super accurate and ran both guns with no problems. Sunday in a falling steel match, kinda cool for Texas, mid to upper 40's, shooting the Glock 34 she finishes up the SNS rounds. Been running perfect. Loads up the first of the plated 115's. Will not run. Stove pipes almost every other round, finally drops the mag and has 1-mag of the SNS as back up finishes the stage. Looks at me like what just happened? Had some other rounds for another gun with us and shot those the balance of the match. 124gr plated Everglades @ 3.4grs Titegroup. It warmed up a little and end of the match tried them again and they did the same thing. Shot 1 or 2 and then stove pipes. So same powder, same amount, same weight of bullet, only difference is plated-no go, poly coated-works. Bullet diameters are coated .356, plated .355. Could this be the difference in pressure created? gerritm
  16. Yesterday I went to the range to check zero on my PCC and do some load testing. 14.5" JP pinned barrel with their tac comp, Taccom BCG & 3 stage buffer. Bottom line is I had some light HS6 loads for my open 3-gun pistol. Thought I would try them Similar burn rate as Autocomp. 124gr Everglades JRN with 6.0gr HS6. Could actually feel the comp work, but really dirty and harsh. Shot fairly soft, but will stick to Titegroup. gerritm
  17. It's all fun & games till it's your mag hitting the table. Great thing about our group is we can laugh at each other. gerritm
  18. The stage was start seated with gun on table in front of you loaded. I watched my master class shooting buddy lay his open gun on the table with the mag release down with no slide racker to prop it up. Stay seated or stand & shoot 4 targets. Sounds simple. Buzzer goes off he grabs his gun stands, mag falls out as he is standing and gets one shot off as he picks mag off table. We all kind of snickered as he laughed. I am up next with my PCC and do exactly the same thing. You would think I would have learned a lesson. Lots of laughing behind me. gerritm
  19. On a side note to this. I have removed the bearing under the bolt and the roller type cam pin and only have the upgraded ball and spring under the shell plate. It is running very smooth with no powder loss or snapping. Back basically to the factory parts. gerritm
  20. Can you take a picture of what you did? Never thought about the wire moving up on the bolt, just made sure it was not contacting the case feeder when it comes forward. Maybe cut a notch in the center of the bolt to hold the spring in place? Mean while it has been (fingers crossed) running almost perfect right now with this set up and head. Not sure what is different or right. gerritm
  21. Carts were fine at last one with chamber flags. gerritm
  22. Need some opinions. Called Dillon and they insisted that it had to be aligned so they sent me an alignment tool and a new case block, station 1 locator, and complete failsafe rod ass. I bought a new clamp style tool head to make sure all was good. Followed the directions to align the platform and re-assembled using the new clamp style tool head, old dies, and new replacement parts. Same problem with the new tool head as with the old one, cases tipping going into the first station. Doesn't matter if it is the only case in the shell plate or it is full. Might even be worse now. Tried changing out the Lee de-capper/sizer die with a new Dillon, and another Lee that I have. Same thing. Made sure all of the adjustments are correct. Decided to try the other old tool head that worked before that I use for my open loads. Changed out the powder from HS6 to Titegroup. Removed the powder check and put the mini Mr Bullet feeder so the set up is the same as the new & old tool heads that are not working. It is working fine. Ran off 300 rounds of my PCC load without a problem. So why is this one working and the others not? If you watch as you bring the case up it tilts and then seems to straiten out just a bit before going into the die unlike the other one where it stays tilted. Really confused. Will call Dillon again when I am in front of the machine. gerritm
  23. Used one Sunday, great for awkward leans or quick shots. Green is the only way to go. Visible in bright daylight out to about 10-15 yards depending on target & background. Have a Crimson Trace CMR-206 mounted on rail in front of my red dot. Co witnessed with red dot. gerritm
