  1. They are fine... even if they look a little furry.
  2. +1 I just got a shipment in from Jim. They look good. I can't wait to load a few and get them down range.
  3. I load 6.6gr of Hodgdon Longshot under a 165gr bullet loaded to 1.125". It's a 171PF on my chrono, and it's been 174-75PF at all the majors I've been to. I decided to opt for the slower powder because I was concerned about pressure issues using faster burning powders. It seems to cycle the action just as fast as my old load and there is very little flip in my TS.
  4. Mine wears in the same spot also.
  5. I met Matt the other day at the Gator Classic. He's a real nice guy. He had no problem with answering the questions I had about my TS. I bought my gun from Angus, and his guys have done my repair work for me. They do great work. You can definitely do the work on the CZ yourself. Detail stripping is a little more involved on the CZ than the 1911/2011 guns, but it's definitely doable.
  6. I've got a local match coming up tomorrow. I'm gonna knock the dust off the 'ol Kimber double stack since I plan to sell it. I shot at Mobile a couple of weeks ago and had a good time for a change. Tomorrow should be fun too. I can't wait to get the rest of my single stack equipment together. I got my CZ back from Angus a couple of weeks ago. It's good as new. I haven't had time to check the zero on it, but I was 16/18 at 60 yards on my A/C zone steel sillouttes with most of the shots clustering in about a three to four inch group. I figured that wasn't too bad considering I usually break out the rifle for anything over 30 yards.
  7. Is anyone using a motion activated shutter with their DSLR equipment? I'm looking for a way to safely get photos from down range.
  8. If the Bladetech has a tension adjustment like the Uncle Mike's mag pouches, the STI mags should fit. I've used an Uncle Mike's Glock mag pouch for years. The only mags that I have that I can't get to fit are my Glock 21 Mags.
  9. It's definitely a good idea to have a back up. My TS sheared the barrel lug at the Gator Classic this year. I shot three different guns before lunch on the first day. My back up, in this case, was my XDM .40. While the XDM is fine for production, the long trigger reset, coupled with standard capacity mags and ammo that was not regulated for the sights on the gun made for the most unpleasant match ever.
  10. The majority of the stages looked ok. Stage four looked more a test of endurance than shooting skill. We often have longer stages like the ones in the video here in the Southeast U.S.
  11. I asked Bevin about that, the other day, when I ordered some fresh springs. He said they weren't designed to lock the slide back reliably. He said they were designed to add capacity only. Now, that said, most of my mags lock back on my TS. I shoot limited, though, so if I shoot to slide lock something has gone terribly wrong.
  12. Your holster will wear on the finish any where it contacts your gun. Don't sweat it. It'll shoot just as good even if there are a few "white" spots on it. I've had my TS for two years and had only a little bit of wear on the trigger guard area where it locks into my CR Speed holster. Even on stainless or polymer frame guns there is some burnishing resulting from contact with the holster.
  13. It's time for a break. I've had absolutely no fun at the past few matches I've shot. I find myself volunteering to go first on every stage just to get it over with. I've been having to shoot my back up equipment since my primary gun broke at the Gator Classic. On the plus side, I talked to the guys at Angus' shop and they almost have my gun ready and deer season looks promising even though I couldn't find the one I shot this evening.
  14. The stock recoil spring on the TS is a 14lb spring. I've stuck with one so far. I've got a couple of 13lb springs, but haven't tried them yet. I've heard some folks talking about using 11's or 12's, but I don't have any experience with those.
  15. Precision Delta, in Ruleville, MS, sells remanufactured ammo.
  16. Hey Will, I've been using 165 Precision Deltas over 6.6 grains of Longshot at 1.125" The give me about a 171PF, although; they were a 181PF at the Gator this past weekend.
  17. I concur with Burning Squirrels. I was having the same problem with my TS earlier this year. A new extractor spring courtesy of Burning Squirrels fixed the problem.
  18. I was looking a 1911 the with an extended safety the other day. I didn't care for the way it felt in my hand.
  19. I totatlly agree. At the last local match I shot, I stepped to the line on 3 of the 5 stages with little or no mental prep. The result was rookie mistakes that cost me the match. It seemed like I didn't have any time to turn around and get my head together before I shot. After the third stage I was just ready to finish up and go home.
  20. I use both guns for USPSA. I shoot the TS in limited and the XDM 4.5 in production. I don't have any reservation about shooting the XDM in limited. It's my back-up gun in fact.
  21. The TS has standard rifling. You will need to slug your barrel though to make sure you don't get leading. My barrel measured out to .401. As a result, I have to shoot cast bullets that are .402-.403, or I get severe leading. If your barrel is .400 you should be good with the Bayou bullets.
  22. Well, the results are in. I finished 2nd limited behind one our local GM's. Congrat's, Bryant. If I had been on my game, like I should have been, I would have won the whole match. From what I saw on the video, I was very fast from position to position and my set-ups were as near to flawless as I can get. I've got to bear down on being patient enough to let the sights settle enough to get a good follow up shot on the target. I must keep my mental focus. I was able spot the instant I lost focus on each stage that I got recorded. Up to that point, I was rocking each stage. It's time to get ready for the Gator Classic. It's a little less than two weeks from now. I've got the new springs on the way from Grams. I should be up and running again by the weekend.
  23. I shot a local match today with the Mobile Club. Not much good to report. I had far too many mental lapses. By the third stage I was just ready to get done. I attempted to video the match, but I was so distracted today that I forgot to run the camera on several stages. I did manage to get a couple of stages on tape. From watching the video, I could tell I was moving much better. I was explosive from position to position and smooth on the set ups. My goal today was to find my threshold for speed with accuracy. I need to be just a hair more patient and let my sights settle. I bounced several shot over the tops of the targets. Equipment wise, I can tell my mag springs are getting weak. I need to contact Grams this week and get some replacements on the way.
  24. I got an ego boost Sunday. I shot a local outlaw match and finished high overall. I was far enough ahead by the last stage I was able to let it all hang out and shoot for LOHF on the last stage. I had a couple of misses on a bobber, but I was still fast enough to get the HHF on the stage. 15 shots in 8.3 seconds targets 10-20 yards. On the rest of the stages, I focused on shooting A's consistently. I maintained a two second advantage on the other shooters.
  25. I've used cast bullets in my TS. I took a lot of trial an error to get them to run without severe leading. You'll need to slug your bore. Mine spec'd out at .401 so I have to size my bullets to .402 and water drop them from the moulds to prevent leading.
