  1. Looks interesting! Can't wait to try one.
  2. The new Gen 5 G17 MOS just came out. Get the TTI 3.25 kit if you don't like the stock trigger and then the scope of your choice.
  3. I think this depends more on your background, perspective, and maybe your self image than anything else. Having been in the military and law enforcement, I don't seem to be bothered by the use of military terms or that we play games with weapons. Having said that, I don't think I have ever heard of the "shooting area" being described as a "free fire zone".

    Gen 5 Trigger work?

I just installed the TTI kit and like it a lot.
  5. This is pretty much right on with what to expect at different level matches. It is very important however, that you aren't letting shooters get used to doing something at a local match that will get them DQed at a Sectional or Regional match...like running around with your finger on the trigger.
  6. Well depending on your experience with running around safely with a gun in your hand, you may want to start with IDPA only because the stages tend to be shorter with less movement. If that's not a concern for you, then it really doesn't matter. Pick one, read the rulebook, and good have fun!
  7. Depends on the weather for me. I can shoot a match of some sort on any given weekend here in the Ozarks, but after 20+ years of law enforcement and military training in lots of terrible weather, I refuse to play a game unless its nice out! ?
  8. Pretty sure this thread in the 1911 forum may help. https://forums.brianenos.com/topic/262058-2011-heavy-magwell/
  9. Agreed...but I did say "easily". There is nothing easy about making GM...especially now a days.
  10. I would never count on the good graces of someone else to make things fair. You are just setting yourself up for disappointment. If you are shooting anything higher than a club match, then you should have gotten there early enough to look at the stages beforehand and at least have a rough idea of how your going to shoot it.
  11. This would be my advice as well. You can easily make it to B class with a G17.
  12. Here is a link to the current list. https://uspsa.org/productionlist
  13. I will say that the Les Baer Premier II .45 I shot NRA Bullseye with years ago was the most accurate 1911 I ever owned. My best group ever from a ransom rest was 1.1 inches at 50 yards using the Marines load with a Nosler 185 grain bullet.
  14. That's good to hear. Would you mind sharing the load you use?
  15. Lots of shooters blow the classifier stages because they" try" to shoot better or faster then they are currently capable. Shoot within your ability and as time goes on and your abilities improve with training and experience so will your classification. As a side benefit, you will do better at matches because your not zeroing the classifier like so many other competitors are.
  16. If a shooter doesn't want to waste his time educating himself and learning the rules maybe they should take a break from being a competitive shooter.
  17. We have a local match that lets you shoot thru twice and I actually tested this by shooting a G17 and then the G34. My results for the two matches were pretty much identical. Shoot what makes you happy.
  18. How reliable are those? Can you adjust the sensitivity?
  19. Clean is always better and while your at it check it over for any worn or broken parts. Just because you can get away with not cleaning most of the time doesn't mean you shouldn't.
  20. If you have a smartphone, download the Tapatalk app and post them though that. Very easy to do.
  21. It's OK. I'll probably get one too.
  22. Yes. That is what I always do now. I just wish everyone did that. I do think that this is a bigger problem than folks realize.
