    Cancer

Sorry to hear this Bro. My condolences. Lost my sister in law to breast cancer 7 month's ago. My wife, her little sister is still mourning. Sometimes I don't know what to do or say. very hard to deal with loss of a family member.
  2. Lost a recent auction. Aimpoint M4 with Aimpoint 3X magnifier, excellent deal, made my bid & went home. Next day, you've been notified you are outbid & lost auction by $5. AAAAUUUUGGGGHHH
  3. I have 16 pounds of N340 to burn up,(got a great deal on it). I loaded 5.2 grains N340 with 180gr rainer jacketed bullets, my pf is still in the 150's. I'm still loading and chronoing to find a major load. I load cartridge OAL 1.195. I'm alittle surprised, N340 is slower burning and pretty soft, but it looks like I'll need nearly 15% more powder than N320 to make major.
  4. FYI, When setting up your special classifier match, remember to select (level 1 Special) on the match type drop down menu on the match information page on USPSA's ezwinscore system. Might help save a ph. call to USPSA.
  5. Footwork, Angus Hobnell, Max Michel and Saul Kirsch have a training dvd named 3GM. Footwork/shooting on the move is covered extremely well. The DVD series is worth every penny.
  6. Went to a local machine shop, asked the guys about steel. They had 8 inch roll stock. Cut me 6 each 3/4 inch thick plates, welded to 3" X 5" bases, out the door $90. Now I have my own steel. Great investment. Steel is shot with 9mm open & .40 major. No problems after 10k hits.
  7. I drive past my range going to & from work. 2 minutes from the highway, I'm setting up a stage & itching to shoot.
  8. I strive to be a limited division grand master. I shoot a 5 inch SVI 2011 sighttracker .40 cal. Fantastic gun. 60K + rounds 5 years ultra reliable. I've been shooting 6 years, watched dozens and dozens of limited grand masters shoot and non have ever shoot a 6 inch limited gun. My vote is 5 inch bull barrel and lots and lots of practice.
  9. Have to be able to shoot on the move and shoot accurately. A GM once told me he always finished 4th to 6th at state/sectional match's and figured out the competitors he finished behind were accurate shooters while moving. He needed to improve his shooting on the move. Moving left, right, fwd, backing up, pactice, practice, practice and I don't mean standing in a box. May feel uncomfortable but improvement will appear if you push yourself.
  10. I know mentally when one of the two shoots wasn't right and I'll take the 3rd shot. If I ignore the mental signal, I usually have a d hit or a miss. Listen to what your mind is telling you as you shoot. You may not see it but you know it as your mind processes the sight picture, trigger pull and muscle movement associated with the shot. Don't get into a habit of taking 3rd shots, make sure the first 2 shots are good mentally and move on. You'll soon figure out when the 3rd shot is required. Have fun shoot safe.
  11. Lower class shooters still have great minds and ideas. Fundamentals may be lacking but they surprise me with course of fire gameplans. I like to shoot with A, M and GM shooters. I always learn a trick. However when I shoot with new shooters I am bombarded with questions and realize these competitors are at a stage in match maturity as I once was when I wanted to improve and better my game. I strive to better my game and I enjoy helping others improve their game.
  12. Wish my wife would shoot. She has a horse, $$$ more than shooting. At least she tells me to shoot well when I'm out the door headed to a match. She would squad with a squad other than mine if she did shoot. She doesn't want to hear my coaching. For the couple's with both names on the sign in sheet, have fun, shoot safe.
  13. Love great props. I want some for our local club. We are happy to have swingers, steel and stars to shoot. Many manhours go into building great props. Unfortunately they aren't easily stored after a match and a few club members use them for target practice. I can dream.
  14. Leave production as it is. There are plenty of divisions to compete in if you want more than 10 rounds in your mag.
  15. Shoot yeat round. CED has a great insulated shooting vest. Double Alpha has a super shooting jacket. Marry's up great with fleece lined blue jeans. Off to the range, no excuse to sit on your rump while those southern boys practice during the winter.
  16. Great stage and stage design. I would like to use this for a local match, credit going to larry(L3001)Where did you get the stage design software? Please post more great stage designs.
  17. Major match's usually post stage diagrams online or are available in print prior to the match. Download the stages, read and decide upon several plans for your course of fire for each stage. Many various start positions will be used. A simple empty gun on top of desk with a loaded magazine close by is easy practice but can produce terrible start/1st. shot times. Most competitors are more than willing to help new shooters. Seek out friendly experienced competitors on your squad, ask questions and observe. Some won't want to share their course engagement knowledge, some will. Shoot safe have fun.
