  1. Charlie You really need to be running the 135s. They feed so much better in a 1911. Also we no longer Moly coat bullets. We use the J/M Specialized Coating from Australia. It is much cleaner with less smoke the our moly formulation. Let me know if this is something you want to try and I will bring you some to Dickson.
  2. Black Bullets International uses the same coating material as Bayou & SNS now. The coating is made by J&M Speciality Products from Australia. It is a catalyzed polymer with lubricant that is baked onto the bullet. Our internal testing has yielded some good results but then again I am probably biased. The manufacturers above are all good people making quality products for the shooting industry and you can't go wrong choosing any of them.<br /><br />Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk<br /><br />
  3. Loading a Molly bullet vs a jacketed bullet is quite different. I am certain we can work it out to your satisfaction after a quick discussion and a question/answer session. <br /><br />Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2<br /><br />
  4. Give us a call on Monday and we can discuss the issue. I am puzzled by your results. 731-343-4001<br /><br />Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2<br /><br />
  5. Most indoor ranges are accepting of "coated" lead bullets - both moly and polymer. Most jacketed bullets (with the exception of JHPs) have more exposed lead than both coated or plated.
  6. Send me an email with your address at bbibullets@gmail.com and we will supply some additional at our cost and help get this issue resolved. Would it be possible to try some at the 0.451 and 0.452 to see if that makes a difference. We can also have a conversation regarding crimp setup.
  7. MCB I hate that you are so disappointed in our products as that is certainly not our intention is displease our customer. If you prefer you may return what you have not used for a refund. My phone number is also posted on the website and we would have been more than willing to assist in developing a solution. I feel the need to address a couple comments - "The lead bullet underneath the coating seams awful soft" - The lead we use is certified 92/6/2 lead with a BHN of 15-16 and if need be I can provide you with the Certificate of Analysis (COA) from the lab. I have had 2 customer that were seeing some leading when using the 45-230. For the 1st one the customer slugged the barrel and found out his barrel was actually undersized - so we sized him down to 0.451 instead of 0.452 and the problem went away. For the other it was a loading practice issue with not enough bell and excessive crimp removing the coating - this was discovered after a phone call and a few pictures of loaded rounds and pulled bullets. I wish you the best of luck in determining the root cause of issue and will offer any assistance I can even if you choose another product. My number is 7313434001.
  8. Send pictures of your loaded rounds to bbibullets@gmail.com and we will try to help you figure it out.<br /><br />Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2<br /><br />
  9. That is exactly what I used. It is amazing how it cures many feeding concerns. I have actually shipped it to customers as a loaner tool in the past.
  10. Give me a call and send me some pictures and I am certain we can figure it out. With a crimp at 0.418 on a moly bullet you are likely causing the concern. A crimp that tight will actually swell the lead oversize right above it and cause the issue. With a moly bullet your crimp should be about 0.001 under standard case size(0.422) which would make the crimp 0.421. We have also seen where factory barrels have a very sharp edge and the use of a Manson Throating reamer greatly assisted the feeding process. I run both the 180 and 200gr (BBI ovbiously as it would be silly for me not too) in my limited gun and it runs flawlessly. You can get my direct line information from: https://www.blackbulletsinternational.com/Contact_Information.html
  11. My pet load for the 147BBI is 3.3gr of N320 at 1.135. Makes 133PF all day long.
  12. Moly adds 0.0005 to the surface. When measuring the diameter it would be adding to 2 surfaces - so an OD increase of 0.001. We size a 40 bullet to 0.399 and then apply the coating and sealer. It produces a bullet at .400. We size to .400 overall instead of the standard 0.401 because most of our customers prefer it for better feeding reliability since often times tight chambered barrels are utilized.
  13. We size our bullets to 0.400. If you overcrimp the lead has to go somewhere - it is not being compressed, it is being moved.
  14. Oh yeah, sorry! I didn't catch the molly bullet mention. I've been using the Lee FCD with BBI 180's with zero issues - for a Glock and a 2011, but I barely use any crimp. Maybe 1/8-1/4 turn past touching the case. The FCD commonly gets used as a crutch to solve loading concerns. When crimp is set properly for moly bullets (very light crimp)the FCD does not cause a concern. However more often than not it is the 1st area that someone will crank down on and create more concerns than you originally had. We have heard of similar success stories with the use of the FCD, per Lee "A firm crimp is essential for dependable and accurate ammunition. It eliminates the problems of poor ignition of slow burning magnum powders." Moly bullets do not require the firm crimp that the FCD is capable of delivering - a light taper crimp is all that is necessary. The overcrimp most often occurs when converting from Jacketed bullets to Lead/Coated bullets.
  15. The Lee Factory Crimp Die (FCD) is not recommended for use with Moly coated bullets.
  16. Agney, You have so much crimp that you are creating a bulge in the brass near the top of the brass. Crimp on moly bullets should be be at about 0.001 under the standard case diameter. The procedure for setting the crimp - https://www.blackbulletsinternational.com/Loading_Basics.html Give us a call and we will try to help get this going for you. I run an XDM40-5.25 myself as my production gun, I also use the GR-x for all my 40 brass.
  17. I am pretty certain I will be there. Hopefully with some BBI sponsorship and products as well.
  18. A couple of things: 1) Polish the powder die - Polish the powder die - Polish the powder 2) Auto indexing presses tend to snap into position at times and can expel a little powder out of the case - enough to make a difference - search the forums as there are plenty of topics on it. 3) When at the chrono to get the most consistent results - tap the powder down so that it is closest to the primer. Do this by elevating the muzzle and slightly tapping the side of the weapon - must be done on each case. 4) A range of 935-942 is phenomenal - expect an ES number of about 20 FPS or a little bit greater. Try to keep a Standard Deviation less than 10. 5) Please remember that variation comes in various forms - range brass, press cycle smoothness, temperature & humidity, etc and each has an impact at the chrono
  19. Are you using Unique?? What bullet, powder, oal, speed? We have not had any comments regarding flaked coating and it concerns me. Sorry for the interrogation but I would like to figure this out.
  20. System mags with a hybrid follower is a "corey" mag which should be a 9 rd capacity mag - not a 10.<br /><br />
  21. Chuck, BBI stands for Black Bullets International. It is a sealed moly coated bullet similar to bear creek and precision. Website is located at www.blackbulletsinternational.com
  22. I am not certain of what dimension you are referring to except maybe the length of the bullet which is inconsequential as it relates to OAL to the cartridge. The only finely sized dimension of a bullet is the diameter. Give me a call and we can talk further.
  23. Give me a call at 731-343-4001 this evening. Are you saying the bullets are different sizes?? I may be able to assist
  24. I use an XDM 40 5.25 for production as well. My load is 3.7gr of WST with a Black Bullet International 165gr 40 projectile.
  25. Robb315, What powder are you using? We here rumblings of "smoke too much" at times but it is few and far between - usually when TiteGroup is being used. I have only ever shot BBI (from the previous owner) and Bayou so I don't know any different and the smoke from either has never been an issue. Well maybe once when I gave some of my loads to a friend during a night match - but that was just for fun.
