  1. A great match from start to finish. Thx Doug and Scott for a super smooth fun match with lots of variety and challenges. The ROs were also a great bunch with great attitudes and just the right amount of push. Hoping to be able to shoot it again next year. I also want to thank all of the sponsors for making the prize table one of the best I have seen. Cheers
  2. I wanted to try open and found a used setup here in 38 super that just runs for 1650 delivered. It included belt, pouches, 4 mags, holster, dies, brass, everything. I put 14k rounds through it with only a handful of problems. It was sorta ugly, but I made B with it and took in to Nats last fall. Right before Nats I paid just under 2k for a backup gun that shoots and looks better and has now been promoted to my primary. I still don't know what I want in a custom build yet, but once I do I will dump one of these and take the plunge. My point is that if you wait and watch something will come up eventually at a "give it a try price". Cheers, Allen
  3. What are your impressions? I ordered one this week from predator and got a call the next morning from Starlight to confirm color, etc. I am hoping this will simplify my flying experience...
  4. This is a good read. I think I will direct folks here for a good overview. I struggle to explain what my first Ironman experience was like. The best way I have found to describe it is to say Ironman is like a theme park for shooters, with each stage being a different ride...
  5. Bear in mind that this was only my second real 3-gun match, but here is a video showing how the stage was setup and how I ran through it. I could hear circus music in my head for most of the stage and at one point took off for the next array without any gun at all. LOL. But I gave it my best shot. I made it through and have a lot to work on before next year
  6. The only person I saw go down the slide was "actionshooter" on our squad. I think he tried to brace his feet against the rope, but if so it didn't slow hime much. With only a 60 second penalty for not going up (and then down) it didn't seem worth it with the risk factor. Plus, for me shooting my first Ironman I was pretty fatigued and took the other route... Wimpy, yes. But others who have shot Ironman many times decided to also pass...
  7. Just got back from my first Ironman and the transitions from gun to gun is where I lost the most time. On 11 stages with at least 2 transitions per stage I probably lost 120-200 seconds overall and I know I lost 90+ seconds getting my first shot off on the long range bonus targets (borrowed gun, 20x scope, forgot to take safety off, etc.). Definitely something to work on even though I realize that Ironman is going to be the extreme. However, with a shorter stage 10 seconds wasted will be a higher percentage of time lost to the field. Definitely going to take Overwatcher's advise and add transition drills before the NW Multigun match next month.
  8. I thought you made it through OK? You certainly didn't whine about it, but you were hauling @$$ by the end of the slide and managed to keep your feet!
  9. Stage 8 was fun using a pistol caliber carbine! Unfortunately my shooting buddy was DQ'd on that stage leaving me to be the only trooper in our squad (and since he rode with me he had to stay for rest of the match). He fumbled his rifle reloading on the barricade and broke the 180. Our squad started the match with 13 and ended with 9, all DQ's Our last stage was 5, the the exit of the tunnel was challenging in the mud, I slipped and fell after ditching the stage pistol and then fell again trying to get back up, good thing no one was back there to see it, not my most graceful moments in the match. I would imagine that stage 5 would have been the worst in the rain. We finished on the slide in the wind and rain. After an injury delay on the squad before us (not exactly sure of the details) the first shooter on our attempted it and barely escaped getting hurt due to excess speed. The rest of us took the time penalty. I was too worn out to trust myself at that point. Hopefully next year I can get a shot at the slide.
  10. Rifle sling too? Its been used before on both rifle and shotgun, so might be a good idea to bring for both. Single point sling ok or not the best for the match? Thx
  11. I bent mine myself and it made a world of difference. The toughest part was getting it off after each attempt at getting it right. It took me 4-5 times to find the right balance between easy to load and making sure all 12 shells remained in the tube (+8 Nordic and XXL cap). Check out the link in the 3rd post in this thread http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=142534 for more details.
  12. When I was shooting limited I had to use my production gun for 2 NW Section Points Series matches when my Limited gun didn't make it back from repairs in time. Even shooting limited minor allowed me to get needed points from those two matches. Now that I have been shooting open and shoot Area Matches and Nationals I have a backup open gun. Shooting some Multigun matches this year including NW Multigun and Ironman and have heard that borrowing guns is what generally happens during matches if you have a failure. Was shooting a 3gun Match last month and my buddy's shotgun failed hard on the first stage so we shared mine for the remainder of the match as we were both shooting open.
  13. I have a +8 on my M2... so I have 11 + 1 and can get another +1 with a ghost load. At my skill level that should be more than enough
  14. Thanks for the tip on the trigger pressure. Got everything in pretty quickly... it was a lot easier than I expected. Now I just need to find a way to reduce the shell catch friction. I don't want to mess with the spring, but would really like to be able to load a little easier...
  15. Looks like it shipped Wednesday, but I didn't get it in today's mail... No biggie I will have it for the April match
  16. I picked up a Center of Mass holster (http://www.comholsters.com/) for multi-gun match use after hearing about all of the DQs resulting from dropped guns and CR Speed holsters. Still use the CR Speed for most USPSA matches, but I really like the COM product and have been using it lately to get used to the slightly different draw
  17. I got in touch with him and he had one is stock so I ordered it... Hopefully I will get it before my match on the 10th
  18. Good ideas here. As I move more into multigun I have moved from the muff mount to the brim, but now need to angle it up a bit. Like others I use POV + third-person video in PIP window. May try rifle mount this weekend and see how it comes out.
  19. OK. I see that now, but I never went back to the page after I got the confirmation webpage (and confirmation email). I probably should have done that. I show a charge on my card so I am probably good to go. Thanks!
  20. This is not a knock because these forums rock, but just an FYI - I tried all of this and am still not getting notifications. Hopefully, it will resolve soon as I like that feature. Keep up the good work! Allen
  21. I got my application for an Open slot submitted within the first 60 seconds. It did not indicate I was on a wait list so I am hoping that was good enough. Just curious, how did you know it was full? Thanks, Allen
  22. Thanks JJ! I will give him a call today and hope he has one. Cheers
