  1. As Flatland Shooter mentioned I have the PSA upper marked as "PCC" and it will chamber out to 1.150+", but I found 1.135" to be perfect for me due to my bullet profile (MG 124g FMJ). I added the Taccom ramp and ran it in a match yesterday with 220+ rounds without a single issue. I added the ramp because I had a FTF issue in the prior match and could see impact marks on the tips of loaded (but unfired) rounds. This weekend I put all of the rounds cleared after a stage in my pocket - later inspection showed no impact marks leading me to believe that the ramp is helping in my setup. I have not tested accuracy for longer distances (greater than 25 yards) as I only plan to shoot this in USPSA PCC division.
  2. I'm running the Hyperfire EDT trigger (4.5lbs) in my Spartan lower and PSA upper. I'm pleased with it for the money and it feels way better than a stock mil spec...
  3. Talked to Tim who helped me get this done. I ended up mounting the ramp down far enough so the upper and lower could close. I then had to grind off a tiny bit of the bottom of the bolt where it was just touching the ramp. Won't get to test for a few weeks as I'm off on a business trip then a 2 week vacation, but I feel like it will be an improvement... Cheers, Allen
  4. I tried to install the ramp this weekend and ran into some problems specific to my setup. I'm not sure how to proceed and looking for suggestions from others who have installed the ramp. I was able to file away material for ramp with a file that was the same width as the ramp. I kept monitoring the depth to avoid having the top of the ramp block the bolt, but when it got close to the depth where it would contact the bolt I could not get my lower and upper to close because the ramp wasn't deep enough. I was able to get it a little deeper (about .048" deep) and it started just contacting the bolt at that depth, but I still couldn't close the receiver as there isn't much of a gap between them when closed. Fortunately, I am able to just remove the ramp and other than 2 tiny notches there isn't going to be any negative performance. Should I continue to deepen the notches until the upper and lower can close and file off the top of the ramp to clear the bolt? If so, how should I shape the top of the ramp? Or Should I try to create a notch in the lower so that it closes (not easy)?
  5. I received my ramp earlier this week and am going to attempt installation over the weekend. Fingers crossed...
  6. Thanks! LOL... That would explain it. I've been there are well...
  7. Hopefully someone can point me to a thread that I just can't seem to find again... I'm 99% certain it was on these forums. Apparently, search is not my friend today. The post included pictures of a glock mag that had epoxy in a cross configuration on the back to make sure the mag was tilted and firmly held in place once inserted into the receiver. The idea was that the mag would not move front to rear and therefore the angle of the loaded rounds was consistent when the bolt moved forward. I just wanted to reread it to see if it might improve reliability, etc...
  8. I'm currently using 124G CMJ RN from Montana Gold, but considering their 115g CMJ RN. What are the advantages of lighter (or heavier) projectiles for PCC?
  9. Thanks for this clarification. I ordered the feed ramp and splice kit earlier this week from Taccom and was worried that I didn't order an extra power spring. I also have brand new Glock OEM 31 and 17 round mags headed my way to be used with the splice kit. Sounds like I will be fine...
  10. An update on the "new" PSA V2 upper and OAL for this thread. I tested my setup this weekend with over 350 rounds and it ran great with loads from 1.100" to 1.150" (Montana Gold 124g FMJ which are RN) with the following notes: I was able to run OALs out to 1.150" with reliable feeding and extraction. On loads that were 1.150+" I was not able to manually eject a round at all. I had to fire the round to clear the chamber. On loads up to 1.140" I was able to manually eject easily even though anything longer than 1.100" wouldn't pass a plunk test. I have reset my press to an OAL of 1.135" to start and will see how it runs in a match.
  11. Yeah. Very pleased with the upper. Have reset my press to 1.135" and plan to try it out in match conditions next Tuesday night. I'm not fast, but speed will come later...
  12. I'm not sure I'm the right guy for this. Limited time and distance to range means I don't really go the the rifle side of the range (I hate waiting around LOL) since I have access to the USPSA action bays. If the stars line up and it's slow when I'm there I will see what I can do, but maybe others have tested this barrel at 3gun distances. I just don't want to get your hopes up for a quick 100 yard test.
  13. I tested my setup this weekend and it ran great. Notes on OAL: I was able to run OALs out to 1.150" with reliable feeding and extraction. On loads up to 1.140" I was able to manually eject easily even though anything longer than 1.100" wouldn't pass a plunk test. On loads that were 1.150" I was not able to manually eject a round at all. I had to fire the round to clear the chamber. I will probably go with an OAL of 1.135" to start and see how it runs in a match. General notes: Handguard fits my hand really well. Balance is good. Stock has a rubber material on it that stuck to my shirt a couple of times when practicing start position with buttstock on belt. May need to swap that out. I may want to get a different charging handle as this one feels really small and hard to grab easily. I'm also getting a lot of recoil bounce so I need to work on smoothing things out somehow. I really need to Chrono and see where I am on PF, I could be running hot. Teardown and cleaning was super easy. My TF +10's on my glock 31 round mags worked great when loaded to 40 rounds.
  14. Montana Gold 124g CMJ I will be testing this weekend and will post back once done.
  15. Thanks Chad for the update and info. Looking forward to fully testing it this weekend and will report back. Cheers, Allen
  16. @wyliearmsI received my V2 upper yesterday (w/ 9MM 1:10 PSA PCC CHAMBER" etched on it) and couldn't get anything longer than 1.100" to drop free during a plunk test. 1.140" to 1.150" rounds looked like they were not making it fully into the chamber on plunk. I understand they may be forced in all the way by mass of the bolt, but that would make it tougher to unload manually. I'm running Montana Gold 124gr round nose FMJs. Could I have gotten an older shorter chambered barrel?
  17. My Spartan lower fits and is feeding dummy rounds fine. Plan to sight in and over the weekend so I'll find out how it performs IRL.
  18. So I was able to do some plunk testing last night and only the 1.100" rounds would drop free every time. I tried 1.110" through 1.150" in 0.010" increments and they would not drop free even with moderate shaking... My barrel does have 9MM 1:10 PSA PCC CHAMBER" etched on it. Loading short isn't a problem for me as I don't run anything else 9mm right now. Will probably purchase the TACCOM ramp when it becomes available. I will also probably get the chamber reamed at some point.
  19. Just saw this post in another thread (http://bit.ly/2g650Fc) from someone I think works at PSA regarding the V2 upper and OAL length requirements... "The new barrel design works best at around 1.155 - 1.160 and it was lengthened to accommodate longer loads. It has been tested from 90 grain 1.050 out to 147 grain 1.165 (out of spec for Glock mags) and they fed fine. Make sure your barrel, near the brake, has: "9MM 1:10 PSA PCC CHAMBER" etched on it. What folks did prior to 8/1/17 (which is when the V2 barrel was released) will be different." My upper is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I plan to test it this weekend, time permitting.
  20. I ordered one of these and it shipped today. Interesting description about the barrel from their website: Barrel: 16" chrome moly steel barrel. Chambered in 9mm, (9x19), with a 1/10 twist. The A2 profile barrel is nitride treated for durability and finished off with a Palmetto State Armory 13.5" M-Lok free-float rail and an A2 bird cage style flash hider. Barrel is laser engraved with "9MM 1:10 PSA PCC CHAMBER" because it has be optimized for use in Pistol Caliber Carbine competitions. I guess I will find out what that means once I get it...
  21. I was able to order this lower today http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Spartan_Complete_9mm_Billet_Lower_Receiver_V2_p/jb-spartan9-v2.htm but the upper you listed was out of stock. Any other suggestions for a complete upper for between $500 and $700? Cheers
  22. Thx. I read your articles and found them helpful. They pointed me towards those parts. Cheers
  23. Having owned a JP rifle in the past I concur that they are ultra reliable... Equipment problems drive me crazy, so a new JP is still an option if I can be patient. LOL
