  1. Any idea where I can pick up a spare lifter to send off to CRUMS? I have heard his turnaround is quick, but would rather not have the gun down right now... Thanks, Allen
  2. Similar here - I am shooting 38 Super for under 14cents/round (not counting brass). The real problem is the gear, but deals are out there. I got a great deal on a used open gun setup (gun, mags, belt, holster, dies, 2k+ brass) for under $1600 delivered. I put 14k rounds through it last year...
  3. Yeah, it's on my list... I always start out thinking I can do something partially, but always end up spending the money Will also be lightening the bolt at some point too, just don't want to be without the gun for long right now
  4. No. Just eyeballed the sight position and decided closer would be better. And yeah, I have been practicing with the sticks on my 1187 open SG for a while now... It will take a lot a practice to get any good though.
  5. I thought about the speed bead and may have to take another look at it. I installed a rail on the receiver of my 1187 and have the fastfire all the way to the back so it is pretty close to my eye. If the rib mount puts it too far out then I will order the speed bead. Cheers FYI/Update - ordered a speedbead. The rib mount wasn't suiting me very well... LOL live and learn The good news is that it looks like Burris will start selling only the mount at the end of March. But for now you need to order it with the sight.
  6. OK. That makes sense. I will take a look at that area and see how I can improve it. What type of dremel bit would you recommend for smoothing that out? Or would you do it by hand? Thanks again, Allen

  8. I started out shooting production at weekly practice sessions, but as soon as I shot a friend's limited gun I had to have one. Shot limited for a year, then decided to give open a try because I am a gadget nut and it look like a space gun to non-shooters. I tried a friends revolver on a couple of stages and that will probably be my next buy as I found I did more "thinking" (and swearing) with the revolver than I would have ever guessed. What fun to have so many choices!
  9. I am red/green colorblind (not severe) and find the green or yellow provides a better contrast. The red just disappears into the background at times, especially in lower light like we have here in the PNW at times.
  10. Do you mean to blend where the extension attaches or where the shells first enter the tube? Thanks, Allen
  11. I read a lot of M2 mod threads here and probably missed the one that discusses what to do to get my new M2 setup for Open division. I have read Jesse's thread on setting up an M2 for 3gun... Seems like most discussions are not about Open setups. I currently have a Remmy 1187 setup for open and decided to move to Benelli... Just not ready to go with a Saiga type SG yet, but love shooting open. Last week I picked up an M2 field 26" for a little over $1,000 locally and ordered the following: -Nordic +8 tube -Nordic tube clamp -Nordic bolt handle -Arrendondo loading chute -Benelli tecloaders (for plastic adapter as I have 6 tecloaders for remington) -Arrendondo jpoint/doctor rib mount (will move my fastfire II to this gun) -DMW Speedbar (carrier release) What mods must be done to get this thing ready to run without spending a ton more money? Do I need to open the loading port? Do I need a CRums lifter? Should I modify the shell catch? Thanks for helping a 3gun and Benelli newb out
  12. Does anyone have before and after pics? I am new to shotguns and don't want to make a mistake... Thanks, Allen
  13. Definitely good advice, but patience is not one of my virtues. I will be ordering a spare to keep in the bag though, and that way maybe I can go further on the one in the gun. I used a small round hand file, and was pretty conservative, it made noticeable difference though. I just picked up an M2 yesterday and was shocked at how difficult it was to load... Looks like I know what I need to do now to fix that problem.
  14. I'm sorry you are still having problems. I don't want to jinx myself, but I have loaded over 3k rounds so far and have not experienced this problem. My experience seems to be the polar opposite of yours... I can't imagine loading on anything else. Someone mentioned mounting the press solidly (which I already assume you have done). I can add that I do have mine lag bolted to the wall on a stand I purpose-built for the press... I wish I had more to offer, but felt like I should at least share my experience.
  15. Nice Shooting Loke! Here is my video from the same match
  16. I can't believe I am posting a second time to this forum in just 2 weeks, but this one is worth mentioning. Shot a Pistol match followed by a Tac-Shotgun match this past Saturday. #1 - In the pistol match I screwed up by locking my speed holster after the first string of the classifier (quicky II). When I tried to draw I had to pause and then I rushed through and threw a mike... I came in second with 97.04% and while this may or may not have been enough to take my first match win it still hurts a little because I have done this before. #2 - In the shotgun match I started using 2 brand new TecLoaders and didn't realize that they had a significant amount of "flashing" on the plastic from the manufacturing process. I had a helluva time getting them to load properly. After trimming them they worked much better. Lesson here: Don't run new gear for the first time during a match #3 - Again in the shotgun match, I mixed in a box of "low recoil" loads when I loaded out for the match. I had purchased these 900 fps subsonic loads by accident and I knew they wouldn't cycle properly. In the middle of a stage, the gun wouldn't eject, but I didn't realize I had made the mixup until I got home and started unpacking everything. Lesson: Pack the right stuff. Geez, what an idiot I am... LOL Anyway, sharing helps me get it off my mind and hopefully will help someone else down the road. Here are vid links if anyone is interested. They are all from the same video, but last three links start at roughly the areas of the mistakes:
  17. Hi Scott, There is a difference in the angle. I show it to you at Kitsap next Saturday. Take care, Allen
  18. I just went the standard way with tecloaders and am happy. I am loving open..
  19. Brief update - So I ordered a monte carlo style stock to replace my pistol grip stock and now the tecloaders line up perfectly with the arrendondo chute. This dramatically improves reloading. The montecarlo stock allows me to get a better cheek weld while using the optic.
  20. I also have the Burkett mount on my backup gun that has 4 popple holes and it moves the glass far enough back. I have the Cameron one on my non-hybrid gun and could tell it wouldn't work with the hybrid barrel. Both in 38Super.
  21. It often is up here in the NW. This weekend was too cold to rain... Thanks Paul. Other than that stage I shoot pretty well in the match
