  1. Thanks Jack. I will start at 1.130" and work my way back down to 1.100" while using a chrono... Being absolutely new to this I think I am over-analysing it a bit... I guess I just don't understand the relationship between OAL, powder, and pressure. I will research and learn... Cheers and thanks again, Allen FWIW - I have fed about 1200 Blazer rounds at through the gun (xD9) at 1.158" - 1.160" without a single FTL, FTE or FTF, but these were 115gr rounds which may make a difference.
  2. OK. So as I was getting back to make adjustments for OAL I pulled out a retail box of "Blazer Brass 115gr RN" and did some measuring. I found that the OAL was between 1.158" and 1.160". Since I was thinking of going with an OAL of 1.100" I got a little worried about pressures (with Accurate #2 and Rainier 124gr RN). I searched the board and saw that a lot of folks are loading to 1.150" I want to be able to make power, but do I need to worry about the difference in OAL? Thanks for bearing with my newb questions... Allen
  3. Thanks Pat. The forums seem very welcoming and helpful. Hopefully one day I will be able to "give back" as well. Cheers, Allen
  4. This sounds like a good plan. Thanks for the advice. Although I may do 50 at 3.7 to test out pre-chrono unless there is a reason I should absolutely not do this. I haven't shot in an official match yet and probably won't do so for a while, so this is just for practice right now... I will check with the USPSA guys that I shoot with on Thursday nights as I am sure one of them has a chrono. The next get together is the week after turkey day... Thanks again, Allen
  5. Thanks for the quick response. I will start with 3.7@1.1 Cheers, Allen
  6. Hi Folks, First post, but I have become a frequent reader... I just finished setting up my Brian Enos purchased 550b except for the powder drop and want to make sure I am on the right track. I apoligise for the lengthy post, but there is a question at the end... For my first loads I have Federal small pistol primers, 124gr roundnose Rainier bullets, and Accurate No. 2 powder. I am looking to start my loading with 3.7gr of #2 with an OAL of 1.100" based on load info from Accurate circa 2004 which specifically calls out Rainier 124gr round nose. However, the latest Accurate load data from their website does not include Rainier bullets. The Rainier site says to use the load data for lead bullets due to the composition of their bullets. Using the 124gr. lead bullet loading info it would indicate a charge of 4.0gr of #2 with an OAL of 1.095" Question: Should I start with 3.7gr and an OAL of 1.100" or should I start with 4.0gr and an OAL of 1.095"? Thanks in advance for any advice. Allen
