  1. LOL! We are still trying to get "hipbone" defined for some production and sstk shooters....
  2. No, I rooted them. LOL, about two minutes after getting them they were rooted. Then again, I've done that to all my smartphones and my Galazy Tab as well. Off topic: LOL! Is that one of the purchase criteria: Can be rooted or jailbroken? Yes? SOLD! Back on topic: In my opinion, the issue with the Nook Color for scoring was screen glare and price point -- in particular price should replacements be needed. I think the screen glare can be fixed by finding the appropriate screen protector. (If somebody does find the right one, please post here.) As for the price, wait for a price drop as this model ages? Or only buy a one or two at time? I just realized that the NST doesn't change screen orientation. KISS. Does the Nook Color change screen orientations? Yes, a criteria is can I do that. I don't want the drek and crap that Verizon puts on there. As to your second question, I'm running cyanogenmod on my Nooks and they rotate with practiscore. So does my phone and galaxy tablet.
  3. Just download the Amazon Kindle app, buy the book, it will dl straight to your phone/tablet.
  4. No, I rooted them. LOL, about two minutes after getting them they were rooted. Then again, I've done that to all my smartphones and my Galazy Tab as well.
  5. What kind of nook? We're talking specifically about the Simple Touch because of its low cost, but I think all the nooks have to be rooted before you can run regular android apps. Some stray memory also tells me there's a fundamental problem with trying to run ps on the color nooks, but I could be wrong. I have it on two nook colors (have not been used in matches yet) and it looks and runs fine. But have to see what happens outdoors. As a side note, I have used them outdoors as readers and tablets, and aside from some glare issues, have not seen any overheating issues.
  6. Two NROI Instructors say it isn't a DQ'able offense. That's good enough for me. And me as well, although I wonder about the whole finger/dq. Mactiger has a statement that should probably apply to all of the finger in the trigger guard discussions. "If the gun goes off, it's a DQ for AD". Should not matter about movement, reloading, etc. If the gun goes off, you have the answer. If it does not, then it should not be an issue. Too many new RO's (some of them fledgling Range Nazi's)seem to live for the opportunity to call this one. On reloading or movement, they are positive it is happening. Had a shooter report it to me at a recent local match (and he's not the first over the last several years). I've run him for years. He has short stubby fingers and it can look like he does not have his finger out when in fact he does. Saw this at an Area match with a newer RO who thought a shooter did not have his finger out as well. I've seen/run this guy as well, he is missing part of his index finger. Would not be a big issue to me to see the rule disappear altogether, especially on 10.5.10. If the gun goes boom, you go bye-bye. Keep it simple.
  7. It's called "Calling your shots". It is knowing and trusting that when the sights are aligned and the trigger breaks, that shot is where you aimed it. Practice, pure and simple, until you trust enough. if in doubt, feel free to crank off another round. Eventually, you will begin to trust, to know you hit or missed and where.
  8. Good to hear, Dan. I dl'd this app and put it on a nook that I rooted with android and I like what I see.
  9. Why would you approach the Area match any differently than you would a local match? Same issues apply, safety, good planning, etc. If you bring spare parts to a local, bring spare parts to an Area. If you have a routine, stick with it. You add more pressure to yourself by thinking of it differently.
  10. I've posted this before and it never gets old to me (chokes me up every time). Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...
  11. My heart goes out to you having lost my Aussie 4 years ago. Do what I did, get two more....
  12. I wear 9, ordered 9, fits perfect. Seems to be a case of YMMV. If you have a local place where you can try them on, do that.
  13. really? i guess i'm not using my 147s correctly because i use them for plinking. LOL, count me as a bad boy! I run my 147's through Glocks, SIG's, CZ, Mech-Tech conversion and my Lone Wolf 9mm AR. When I shoot, I shoot 147's.
  14. Shoot what you (and your gun) like, like what you shoot. So you save a few bucks but don't enjoy the plinking. Was that worth it?

    One Handed?

I like it. Have to see it set up, though to see how tight I would need to bring the targets in to force one handed shooting. Mind if we borrow it and give it a try?
  16. Have you shot any matches with the stock setup yet? Seems to make sense to run with the original for a bit before jumping in to lighten a trigger. You may find you like it.
  17. We had a shooter last season who's pistol did not go into battery completely. Finger outside the trigger guard, he rapped the back of the slide with his other hand to put it fully into battery and gun discharged. DQ.

  19. Does not take that much room. You can go as much or as little into it as you want. All my gear, with the exception of the gas burner and 40 qt pot, can fit in a small closet. If you just do extract, a stockpot, a couple of buckets, a better bottle PET carboy and the various little gadgets you need can make EXCELLENT beer on your stove top. Just means you take over the kitchen for a few hours, that's all.
  20. You are on Nik's side of the world! Drop him a line for info on clubs in your area.
  21. Also on HBT. Great forum, much like this one - sometimes TOO much information! We're close enough we should exchange beers if we run into each other at bigger matches!
