  1. Thanks. Interesting bit of information. Wonder why this did not come up years ago when the issue of weighing triggers was first proposed. If such procedures are available, they certainly were not brought out during the discussions then and USPSA must not be aware of them either. How do they measure a Glock or CZ trigger, for example?
  2. Rob, if we do go down the path of trigger pull weight, any format created should be automatic and without human intervention. Not trying to be argumentative here, just asking questions. How far from the table do I have to have the gun lifted? How long do I have to have the weight on - is it like a bull rider getting 8 seconds? IF you go down this path it needs to be a procedure that anyone can do anytime/anywhere with repeatable results, and should include an appeal process - just like the chrono process has. Specific setups and calibrations, insurance that the device is within tolerance -again, just like the chronograph requires certain things. Remember that the chrono mfgs also stipulate how the chrono should be setup for optimal results, how far apart certain parts should be, etc.
  3. It will probably be a format similar to what IPSC uses to measure trigger pull. Have to see that format for USPSA in action first before commenting further. We can't seem to get production shooters to know where their hip-bones are, how to find that center of the trigger for the test to be conducted from ought to be fun, unless there is going to be a different measuring point for the variety of production guns. Not a big fan of the idea. FWIW, I shoot production 99 and 44/100 percent of the time.
  4. 8 clubs, able to shoot every weekend...life can be very good for you here!
  5. LOL! Rob, boredom and/or dremels have done more damage than you can shake a stick at! You could spend the winter polishing your bullets....
  6. Have had no need to remove mine and that gun has been running since 2002....
  7. Check out westernpasection.com. Three clubs in Western PA come to mind within easy reach. Castlewood, Pardoe and Gem City. A little further south and you get into the Pittsburgh area clubs. Then you also have any trips west into Ohio, so you have some nice choices. You will get snow up in that area. Good luck in your search and if you do come this way, let me know and we will get you fixed up with the local clubs.
  8. I have a SIRT and this is why I think a target like this would be ideal for it.
  9. Chris, our pleasure. I have not even included our friends in Ohio who are also close to you but not in our Area. Dan/Flex/Bud any of you guys want to pass on the Ohio clubs for Chris? He did pm me and is close enough that some eastern Ohio clubs would be in his range as well.
  10. Thanks, Jack. Get that pistol out and come back and see us. Miss shooting with you! Chris, drop me a pm with your location and I'll hook you up with the closest local club. Or visit us at westernpasection.com and look around. 8 clubs to choose from, can shoot every weekend during the season if you want. Chirpy, Eagles Nest is no longer affiliated, not sure if they even have matches anymore. Gem City up in Erie is gearing up for their indoor season - January through March, 2nd and 4th Sundays.
  11. Section By-Laws outline how slots are distributed amongst clubs. In addition to winning a spot, you can sometimes get one from your local club or section by applying for their waiting list. Not all Sections award their slots via matches. We distribute the earned slots by clubs for them to distribute. Leftovers come back to me and the waiting list kicks in.

    trigger bar mod

Mods depend on what Division you plan to shoot in. Moving the pivot point is not permitted in Production as it is considered an external modification.
  13. What's your goal? Don't remember you stating it, just making comment on improving.
  14. So tell me again the reason USPSA NEEDS to become mainstream? Many of you WANT us to be mainstream, but do we NEED to be?

    Glock 17 trigger

So there you have it, Rob. A variety of choices/options. You just have to find what works best for you. Pick one and practice!

    Glock 17 trigger

There is no 100% answer due to the tolerances built into the glock pistol. I can take some set-ups from one frame and drop them in another and all is good. I can drop it into a 3rd frame and it is not the same at all. That being said, remember that the trigger pull is not solely dependent on the trigger assembly alone. Polishing/stoning the striker, using a lightened or modified striker, changing the springs have an affect on the overall feel of the trigger. The connector you use - and if it has been polished/cleaned up also makes a difference. Stock, Ghost Rocket, Lone Wolf, Scherer, et. al. will each have a different feel relative to what else you do. A Vanek with a stock connector is not the same as a Vanek with a polished Lone Wolf. Your firing pin safety also will affect the pull. Stock versus a polished and modified or titanium, one. Note it also has a spring (that you can replace with lighter or heavier ones), so add that into the equation. I'd recommend you play with it - as it is a great way to learn how your gun operates and how YOU want it to work for you, as opposed to dropping $125 plus for kits. There is no "one size fits all" solution to get where you want to go. But if you want to drop some dollars, there are a number of companies in the dealer forums that have kits - at least 3 that I know of.

    Spring cups

sets, make it sets.... I am making a list for my emergency G17 repair kit. Besides spring cups, can you recommend any other "must have" spare items? While I have a few items in my kit, the only two I have ever needed were a new trigger spring and fiber optic rods for my front sight. Other than those, I have not had anything else break on my glocks. In my kit I just have extra striker springs - in fact, I have two striker sets ready to drop in should the need arise. Extra connectors - just because I have collected them over the years, recoil springs, assorted pins and trigger springs. They are in my range bag because that is the best place (for me) to store spare parts. I have lost cups when cleaning my gun, but I don't clean it at the range, just pass a bore snake through it on rare occasions.

  19. LOL, kind of like that thread on how to mentally get back on track after you tank a stage. Could'a, would'a should'a!
  20. Would be nice - as long as there is a corresponding increase in helpers to set up, run and tear down! We have seen increases in our local clubs but it has not translated into additional help yet.
  21. Note that you cannot build up layers of grip tape in certain areas as that changes the profile.
  22. They may have been thinking they were having a bad mental day. Their mind can't hurt you, it's how they handle their mental game that will!
