  1. 650 has 10 left at the buzzer. I think Uniquetek has some gadget to empty powder: drain-n-change
  2. Dan, you handled yourself fine and Randy did shoot well. Why CZ does not provide for at least a decocker is beyond me. My cz-75 P-07 has one. I've watched dozens of shooters do the dance with their CZ's, waiting for that accident. I'm sorry it was you and I was the one with the timer.
  3. What everyone else, especially Steve, said. What division do you shoot? If you are a production shooter shooting with Limited and Open shooters, you can get lost in their detail. Talk to whoever else you shoot with who may shoot the same division as you for advice and commentary. Walk through the stages with them or follow them, trying to learn more about positions, reload points, and the like. I had the good fortune to shoot some larger Ohio matches with Steve back in the day when he was shooting production and learned a great deal just by watching his approach to stages.
  4. I have to tell you that the same thing happened to me over the weekend. I usually shoot my own 147 reloads, but I was given a goodly supply of eagle 147's so I thought I would run them. Stout shots, felt much firmer than my 140 PF reloads. First couple ejected hard, then one just plain jammed in the chamber. This was a full blown, case peeled back from the bullet in spots jam. Cleared it out, stopped shooting and unloaded every single one of them back into the box. Played the rest of the day with my own reloads. I may use them in another gun for plinking, but they won't go through my 34's again.
  5. I am so excited about this sentence. We can channel that excitement if you want to help out! Already talked to Jenn. Knew there was a reason I liked you!
  6. OK that's a good point. I guess I was a little concerned about a kid being verbally abused by a grown-up. But a kid in a constructive environment surrounded by healthy adults would learn strong internal boundaries and good techniques for dealing with a verbally abusive person. If any group of shooters allowed that to happen (a competitor becoming belligerent towards the RO) - to a kid or a woman or any RO, then shame on them. No place for that type of behavior by a competitor, or allowing it to be enabled by a squad.

  8. Old info, from what I see. ordered, confirmation email, trugrips a few days later. Of course that was about 6-8 months ago. Gorilla Grips at CPWSA is very similar.
  9. Get it from the source, from Eric
  10. On September 2nd, Pardoe will run a multigun match in their pistol and rifle pits. 6-7 stages, round count is Rifle 150, handgun 150, shotgun birdshot 100 and 10 slugs (minimum always bring extra). Please be at the range at 8:30am for sign up. Shooters meeting at 9:00am, then squad up and start shooting shortly thereafter. No walk on's due to the time involved in running a multigun match, cost will be $25. Maximum rifle distance 300 yards. For those who plan on attending the match, please email Sam at sam.brown@roadrunner.com. Pistol shooters are welcome bring A LOT of ammo, cost will be the same.
  11. Balance. As said before, it is a matter of choices from the guns we use, to the sights we use, to the bullets we use, to the powder we use, to the way we break down stages, and on and on. It is these challenges that make us choose this shooting game over other shooting games. If the game was just about points, we would all shoot bullseye. While you have concentrated on accuracy, have you evaluated your game, piece by piece to see where you are losing time? We've shot together quite a bit. You are more accurate than I am, but I am faster on certain other aspects of the game. Remember - DVC, the three legged stool.
  12. You are not alone, I have nothing to do with twitter. Whatever gets decided on, it should be linkable for us to have it show on our section webpage as well.
  13. It ends up being a matter of personal preference for the way you shoot. Some people like flippy guns, others the softer recoil of a heavier bullet. Try them all under match conditions and see which one you like best. I started production with 115, and over the years moved to 124, then 135 and finally 147. There are a number of GM's who run 147. IIRC, when Dave S. was kicking butt in production, he ran Atlanta Arms 147's. That's kind of when the attention to them came about 5-6 years ago. Like you, I run a G34 and have found that my Glock likes it hot and heavy. 147 grain at 140 pf using titegroup.
  14. I have TalonGrips on my G17. I just tested out TruGrips on my G34 and they provide much more coverage. This is good. I think I might change my G17 to Trugrips now. I still use the TalonGrip Rubberized texture on my carry guns though. The sandpaper style grips are just too rough on my skin. Exactly what I found with them - the coverage area is much less than I have grown used to with TruGrips, so I will be sticking with my old standby TruGrips.
  15. Was it done for all shooters or just a few?
  16. How much money is too much? Never enough. As a Production shooter, I take 12 with me to matches, with six I put on the belt and the other 6 stowed and loaded in the range bag. I own 20 10-rounders and 25-Standard (high) capacity, and am always looking for deals to add more. That's just for the competition 9mm's. Won't go into the number for the G19 carry and the G22 in the safe or the super big sticks for the 9mm glock carbine... Zombies best watch out.
  17. IIRC from the latest set of TruGrips I bought, that is the tape he uses. I've patterned some from the backing of older TruGrips and it works ok, just not as precise with the cuts and the like. Put my home-made ones on my SIRT pistol when I got it last year. Works fine.
  18. I've been using TruGrip for years, just ordered some Talon's to try out as they looked interesting.
  19. When does a new shooter stop being a new shooter? After "X" number of matches, after "X" number of rounds fired, after they achieve a certain class ranking, when? And if you have a defined point, is it the same for everyone? We were shooting a match today and a long-time shooter foot-faulted - 6 shots out of the fault line. Got huffy when I (as the clipboard RO) called him for all six, and said it was only a local match. Somewhere out there the occasional reference in the rulebook to level one matches has gotten expanded to be a catch all thrown out for everything. Such thinking weakens and dilutes our sport and allows people to pick up - and repeat - bad habits. If we don't teach them right before they start shooting, then shame on us. Another thread on the board talks about how do we grow USPSA. While USPSA has a responsibility to grow itself, the shooters (new and established) have just as much a responsibility to learn the rules and abide by them. Great, you own a gun and know how to shoot it. Now at the very least familiarize yourself with, and learn, the rules of the game you want to play before you go shooting it.
