  1. In SS Major i always made sure to go at 170 using BE and never saw more than a small deviation at any match, at any temperature, at any elevation on any chrono except for one certain chronograph a few years ago. I'll know next month how switching to N320 does at higher elevation. I'm not worried though. Al
  2. 204gr LSWC. 200gr is what i started with before i began casting my own. I see no need to change either. Al
  3. 99 shooters this past sunday at Richmond Kalif and 85 three weeks ago at Sac Valley. Seeing a lot of newer shooters too. Maybe the new ones have just become tired of the static ranges around here? Al
  4. I don't remember anything being posted the last couple years. If i remember correctly, you see the squad list and who you're squadded with the day (fri) you sign in. Same with the stages. I am getting to be forgetful though so maybe i'm wrong Al
  5. If you can afford it, yes. I always bring a backup gun. Most local matches and definitely to any out of town match. Al
  6. Roughly 30 or so local matches a year. Usually 3 a month but that number has been going up as of late. Al
  7. Thanks much for the vids. I very much appreciate it. Regarding the playback, all i can say is that i'm on a MacBook Pro and i'm able to see and hear everything just fine. Occasionally a vid will load in the same window w/o your site framed in the bkgd but that is rare. No computer guru am i. Al
  8. 6 on the belt and 1 in the gun with the barny mag in back pocket as last chance, emergency, shtf, why did i even show up today backup mag. That's for SS though Al
  9. I have quite a ways to go before shooting in the "senior" catagory. I only shoot SS and just barely inched into the bottom of B class earlier this year. I have no illusions that i am going to win any class in SS but i spend the money to go to bigger matches with my friends where i get my ass kicked more times than not. Why go? Because i have an absolute blast doing it. I love it. More fun than i can really describe. If the prize table is big enough, i might chance into something nice but that's not why i go. The top awards always go to younger shooters who are better shooters than i am. They also go to older shooters who are better shooters than i am Maybe we can have a match for 49yr old guys who never practice and have bad knees too? Al

    Sns castings?

If i didn't cast my own, i'd still be buying from Ryan and Jim. Top notch people, top notch cast boolits and top notch company. Al
  11. LOL. Those were probably gone in 3 months Al
  12. I'd shoot every saturday AND sunday if i could. Most local ones here are on sunday unless i make a two hr drive each way. Al
  13. It's not the mags. You live in SoCal, so get out to NorCo and meet up with some great shooters. Describe the situation face to face and see what some veteran shooters have to say. Al
  14. I started with 1911s because i shot those better than any other guns i had at the time. Also started reloading .45 around the same time. Gear was simple and cheap. Still shooting SS cuz that's what i love. I'd recommend going with SS and see how you like it. You can always change up and shoot Production with a different holster and mag pouches. Al
  15. I rarely see them but i really enjoy the stages which have a large shooting area with no start box or Xs to touch. Simply start anywhere inside the shooting area. That really makes you (me) think about how to shoot the stage instead of likely being guided from one side with a start box or Xs. Al
  16. Lead, lead and more lead. All i shoot and likely all i'll ever shoot. The cost savings is tremendous over the short and long haul. Smoke? I only notice it when i watch a video or when watching someone else shoot. Never even notice it when i'm shooting. Al
  17. A "must do" match if ya love those 1911s. Some of the best shooters in the country shoot this match. With good reason too. It is just a downright fun match to go to. Great stages and even greater people Al
  18. I bring a extra gun for every match. Big or small. Shooting SS kinda affords that. Actually lend out my seconday 1911 to others at matches more than i've had to use it as a backup gun for myself. Al
  19. 5. Occasionally 6 but not very often. Pretty rare in fact. Al
